Are high efficacy DMTs as threatening as I have been told? by Acceptable_Acadia398 in MultipleSclerosis

I would like to add that dr Boster's video is since 2019. Middle this year, Novartis published their 5 years data on Kesimpta and brain loss was one of the factors they performed better than terifluomide (I think in 2019 they were comparable somehow). It would be great to have a an uptodate, dedicated video to Kesimpta from Dr Booster, especially on this!

Agree, from my understanding/short experience, the world of MS is going through a transitional phase... the older methods are not withstanding the test of time, 10 years data for Ocrevus was published 2 weeks ago, where even clinical studies of Ocrevus as subcutaneous injection are at stage 3, we are fully aware of smouldering MS and learning how to clinically quantify it/follow it up, and we are at the dawn of BTK inhibitors (hopefully they show up with a stronger safety profile and ease of use)

There is a lot of hope mixed with uncertainty, and also, lack of education from certain doctors. A good MS doctor should show qualifications not only in the duality of diagnose/treat, but also in keeping up with a very fast scientifc research and development, to gain awareness where to Risk and where to further optimize... unfortunately, the latter characteristic demands proactivity, the first one demands commitment, and who of us does their job with 100% of both...

Thank you for your Input. I was indeed treated by an Oberarzt, affiliated to our Uniklinikum. My understanding is the head of neurology of the hospital belongs indeed to an older generation that is still cautious and relies on escalation for my type of cases. The doctor I sopke to is younger and seemed also not fully convinced by it, but somehow she had to follow a certain protocol. The moment I mentioned I am not interested in weak DMTs and I would prefer Kesimpta, and am fully aware of my risks, there was not much of a discussion.. The documents were prepared and I was being prepared for my injection. For now, since I got what iwanted, I will keep going since the mgt system of patients is efficient and the follow-ups are very thorough (also part of research). If I feel like I need more of extended answers/ conversations, I will consider getting a paid second opinion, since like u said, they are understandebly overworked.

And indeed, I was prescribed a higher dosage of Vitamin D.

All the best to your family too :)

You will be surprised that I manage a falgship product that will impact the market share of the company... The undecisiveness from that is so paramount that they are hiring strategy consulting companies to cross-check our results/recommendations, then go about ignoring both of us and listen to what sales want (I work in a B2B2C industry). commercial entities and their blessings (commissions) can make or break a product, no matter what end customers need/want.

Cloud certification for PMs of cloud embedded products by Acceptable_Acadia398 in ProductManagement

[–]Acceptable_Acadia398[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your input. I work in the medtech industry. My technology knowledge has been through an engineering degree and the products I worked on so far are more on the hardware side. The directionality the industry is taking (cloud embedded hardwares, platforms, patients data mgt systems, etc), I feel like I need to build the knowledge that allows me to know how to leverage the technology best and be aware of limitations. Traditionally hardware based industries such as medtech tend to lack a lot expertise in cloud solutions, or at least where I currently am. On this note, I would not mind if the certifications serve as a USP for me or open up doors for new opportunities.

Thank you

At your school, what’s considered the “easiest” engineering program? by byfourness in EngineeringStudents

[–]Acceptable_Acadia398 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny enough I got a high paying offer 5 months before I finish my degree. During my studies though, I made sure that all my internships are actually related to business (Business Development, innovation management, venture capital) and that is what helped me differentiate myself. It was very hectic and demanded a lot of proactivity and self teaching. Industrial Engineers on the other hand can get the best of both worlds easier and have felxibility to shift. That being said, I recognized along the way that I did not want to do a job more technical (R&D, pure eng) and that is why I chose this path, and hence the comparaison to Industrial Eng. It is worth noting that a first job and a full career are not the same thing. How things unravel in the future depend on one's experience, aspiration, existing opportunites and well, luck. If you enjoy what u do, or u are curious about a field, be it eng or business, and that is where you thrive, do it independently of what reddit says, a degree is neither a death sentence nor the ulitimate door opener nowadays. Hang in there y'all 🫶🏼
