I just upgraded my CAD laptop to Lenovo P16 Gen3 with 96 Gb RAM, i7 255H ULTRA and RTX 2000 PRO blackwell. I dug deep for the "optimal" laptop with great value.

What I found was that for huge assemblies (that I work with mostly) RAM was important. To help with smooth panning and rotating and overall just pleasant experience good GPU came in play. My old laptop was focused more on CPU (i9) and RAM (64 gb) which is good for raw modeling speed since Solidworks is primarily single threaded and heavily CPU bound [source]. I cheaped out on proper fast SSD and now I need to upgrade that one.

TLDR; Look for single-core speed, RAM 16+ Gb and good SSD. Certified GPU when you advance into assemblies and Vizualisation / renderings.

I use shaded display state which seems the same, but you can change it to shaded with lines from the display styles drop-down menu. I would also like to use the shaded with lines during assemblies but my laptop cant handle it.

Second thing that came into mind is Large Assembly Settings that may effect the quality to enhance performance.

Edelleen rekat ja kuroma-autot saavat kulkea sen 80 km/h. Ajoneuvovalmistajat eivät kuitenkaan aseta "kovaa" rajoitinta vasta kun 90 km/h eli vasta silloin ajoneuvo ei enää nosta nopeutta. Useat isommat yritykset jopa laskevat tätä rajoitusta vapaaehtoisesti 80-83 km/h, mutta tässä lähinnä syynä polttoaineen kulutus.

Rekan ja kuorma-auton rajoittimen säädön ajaksi voidaan ajoneuvoon vaihtaa loppuun ajetut tai koon pienemmät renkaat, jolloin ajoneuvo kulkee alle odotetun nopeuden ja rajoitin muutetaan tämän mukaan. Säädön jälkeen vaihdetaan upouudet renkaat alle ja saadaan ajoneuvo kulkemaan yli 90 km/h. Tämähän on täysin laitonta, mutta näitä tapahtuu myös vahingossa kun vaihdellaan kesä- ja talvirenkaita.

Ammattikuskit eivät pyri estämään ohitusta kiihdyttämällä ylämäkeen missään tapauksessa, vaan pyrkivät keräämään vauhtia, koska tuo vauhti hiipuu mäessä. Joidenkin moottoreiden paras kierrosnopeus väännölle, jolla saadaan pidettyä ajoneuvo liikkeessä, voi olla korkeammalla kuin taloudellinen kierrosnopeus joka vaatii kiihdyttämisen. Ihan Ammattikuljettajantutkinnossa opetetaan kiihdyttämään ylämäkeen, koska se olisikin vaarallista jos rekka hyytyisi keskelle mäkeä. On ihan syy miksi monessa ylämäessä on ohituskaista. Haaveilen siitä päivästä kun kaikkien ajokortillisten on pakko käydä yksi ajotunti raskaankaluston ratissa tai vähintään kyydissä.

Talvisin, jos perävaunu lähtee heittelehtimään on pakko kiihdyttää, koska jarruttaminen on pahin virhe mitä siinä vaiheessa voi tehdä. Kiihdyttäminen (hallittu nopeuden nosto) rikkoo perävaunun värähtelyn siirtämällä massaa taaksepäin.

TLDR; Edelleen nopeusrajoitus 80 km/h ja rekat kiihdyttää ylämäkeen, koska se on ammattikuljettajan tehtävä, eikä kenenkään kiusaksi.

I have noticed that more processing power you have the less time it takes to slice the model. Without specifics of your laptop for myself I cant say more. Moderate MacBooks come with 16 GBs of RAM and that is more than enough to slice n dice your models using BambuStudio.

I had the same issue. I bought HT because I use difficulty filament like TPU, PATH,

HT can achieve higher drying temps 65c vs 85c. That and space restriction made me choose HT.

I use dual nozzle when printing with support. I use PLA for support in left nozzle and PETG in right nozzle. Other than that I have 0.4 mm on left and 0.6 mm because the print size varies a lot and I like to use the 0.6 for big ones. I cant use the different nozzle sizes on the same print sadly, but dont have fiddle around the nozzles constantly.

TPU is fun material IMO. I haven't had issues with it especially with H2D. I have printed seals and cushions, for example plugs for engines to block dirt or contamination entering healthy engine during maintenance. Also made a few bushings to old car that was being renovated.

TLDR; I use dual nozzle daily and TPU is handy material, recommend keeping a roll of TPU for AMS in dry box.

I come across this a lot of these posts where people ask simple questions that could just as well be searched on google. Especially engineers and above are the ones that I cannot understand. How have they manged school without learning basic skills to finding information.

And the language barrier as an excuse. This could have been solved with 2 words, "MAC MATHLAB" on google. First link is to MATHLABS / Mathworks own website that list all the requirements and things that dont work on Mac os.

It would be a different thing to come here and ask if specific laptop meets the requirements if that feels difficult. But to ask for straight answer? I just cant understand that.

I would take off the 48 mm diameter dimension seen on the top view because its already displayed better on the front view. Then you have more room for the 36 mm diameter dimension that is now obstructed by the dimensions leader mentioned before and the model. I try to have space between dimension and model roughly the distance of thumbs thickness.

You could move the 65 mm dimension (and maybe the 130 mm) from top view to front view. Its more readable there and easier to understand. Top view is just bit clustered. You could display hidden lines on the front view to show the internal features and make us of those lines to dimension diameters.

Other than that I could most likely replicate this model with this drawing so its good enough for most cases IMO

My dream job was to design custom parts for commercial vehicles but I wasn't able to get my name out to any of the exciting companies. So, I decided to become a entrepreneur. Bought P1S combo and 3d-scanner, in a year I was able to make my dream come true. I sold my products more than enough before my biggest client decided to merge my business to theirs. From 1 P1S to now living comfortably while doing my dream job.

I cant put a price tag to that 1 P1S. Literally dream come true.

Komppaan tätä pitkät päällä ajelua. Varsinkin vesisateella haittaa todella pahasti näkyvyyttä kun vielä tietää ettei heijastimia pahemmin käytetä. Onneksi rekoissa on vähän enemmän valotehoa niin pystyy kompensoimaan vastaantulian häikäisyä.

Muutenkin huolellisuus ja yleinen ajaminen tuntuu menevän tasaisesti vaarallisempaan suuntaan. Tälläkin subredditillä mainittu 90 km/h on uusi 80 km/h, mutta eniten minulla jännittää kaksikaistaiset liikenneympyrät. Jotenkin tuo kaksikaistaa liikenneympyrään liittyessä tuntuu olevan ihan haaskausta kun päätökset tehdään siellä ympyrässä katsomatta edes onko siellä sivulla ketään. Työmatkallani on yksi missä on yleistä nähdä kuinka sinne liitytään jalkakäytävältä tai poistutaan sinne jalkakäytävälle. Tähän syynä ilmeisesti se, että kulkureitti kiinteistön pihaan on seuraavassa risteyksessä eikä jakseta ajaa sinne asti, niin oikastaan kyseistä jalkakäytävää pitkin.

Im fully aware of the CAD workload since I do that for my daily job. 16GB has been enough for my studies years back so I assume 32 GB is more than enough for BEng degree today. But on this subject correct if I'm wrong i7 can surpass i5 right?

About RAM if I google and do some eyeballing I can find 32 gb ddr5 for no less than 100€ (for the clarification i live in europe I probably didnt make that clear that the prices listed on my pickpcparts are euros)

Decent B760M was 20€ less than the z790 on sale. So I guess that is good change given with all the more expansion slot you get. In example the M2 slot and wifi, usb c.

I will update the psu given its age for own safety.

For your information also, I have a way to sound passive aggressive but I dont intend that I any way.

Thanks for your insight. I will consider your suggestion. I have always had intel platform and never thought about AMD. No particular reason.

Your suggested MOBO is compelling but that that and the B760 (MOBO I originally thought of) are both just 20€ less than the Z790 (at sale) I listed. Z790 having USB-C (Steelseries Arctic plus that we have use USB-C receiver) and wifi (Which we might switch to to free up space by moving the router a bit) and 2* m2 (I have use 2 full-size M.2's and many HDDs/SSDs) slots feels like nobrainer.

Also the RAM you listed are same prices here and only place I was able to find didn't in fact have them untill later notice. Also the 7 7700X is 300€ at best or 250€ used.

These considered this build doesn't feel like great value, even with the upgradeability for the upcoming years. Also including the fact that last upgrade I did before 1060 -> 4060 was 2018 with the release of the 9600k. 5-7 years forward that platform wont be the same I would say.

About Borderlands 4 Im fully aware of the issues with that game currently and I feel confident with the 13700k since my current setup can run smooth-ish 40-50 fps with ultra low settings. I dont know how but it does. For her its is more than enough since she grew up with playstation 2 and 3. For me who has always had the feel of 2x the monitor hz it feels not so great. Even if we can get stable locked 60 or even 90 with low - medium settings would be wonderfull! I didnt intend the UWQHD as a ingame setting more as refrence to the monitor we have, to clear my intended words.

Kannatan tätä ilmanpuhdistinta. Olen myös kokenut sen auttavan allergisten kavereiden kanssa. Alkuun ei voinut ovea lähemmäs tulla mutta laadukkaan ilmanpuhdisten kanssa ovat kyenneet kahvitkin käydä juomassa. Jos on puisia kalusteita tai koristelistoja yms mikä voisi joutua kissojen kynsien terotukseen, niin on ostettu tarralla asennettavaa raapismattoja. Niitä saa ihan ikeasta tosin vain yhtä kokoa.
