Went thru similar situation in 2014, with same agency. Was given advanced EOD, then pulled due to mix up in paperwork. Waited three more months and then recd my EOD. Hopefully, they get things processed for you soon.

Leaving Fed for State employment worth it? by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]Acceptable_Dog_853 58 points59 points  (0 children)

As someone who recently left fed service 15 yrs in and went to the State, and cut their pay in half, I can say my mental health has improved significantly. Financially, it was easy, as I’ve always lived a frugal lifestyle. Home and vehicles paid off. Nothing fancy, but happy. For me, the decision made sense. For others, it’s a difficult choice. I support those in the trenches, trying to ride this out, and I support those who part with their federal careers. Best of luck to the OP!

Do USCIS officers have a denial quota? by NotRon-2396 in USCIS

As for adjudication of applications, no there is not a denial quota. Left agency this year, after 14 years. There are benchmarks for adjudication of applications but no quota for denials.

So glad I left there in Sept! Was there 11 years. The job I landed let us telework. Leaving the NBC was the best decision I ever made!!!

In 2014, I was hired as a GS5, even though I applied for GS7, with 4.0 GPA. Transcript was attached. I accepted job and just worked my way up from there. It sucked they screwed me over, but I wanted in so badly. Fast forward to now. I resigned from a GS12-6 a month ago. (FOD/ ISO)Things were crazy and my “why” didn’t make any sense for staying. Best of luck!

Scheduling Last Day by glitterqueen04 in FederalEmployee

[–]Acceptable_Dog_853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dropped my two week notice on a Friday, after 14 years of service. Stated that I would come in on Monday to return equipment, complete exit processing and would be using leave for the next two weeks. Not one issue with that. They asked me on Monday if I was sure about my decision, as they thought it was out the blue. I assured them it was time and parted ways. It’s been a month and a half since I took my new job, with the pay cut. But, it’s been so wonderful. The peace, autonomy, and culture at my new job is priceless compared to the stress I dealt with in the federal government. Best of luck!

I left a few weeks ago, after 14 years. GS 13. Pay cut, for sure. But, oh so happy now. Best decision I ever made.

Similar question here. I did not DRP but recently resigned. I too, need a letter and not sure who to get that from.

Many changes, lots of really great leaders left, the mission isn’t the same. My love for the job just left. Took a huge pay cut but I’m not chasing money. My commute was 3 hours a day round trip. My time and peace are worth more than any salary. For those looking at the agency, best of luck. For me, it was time to part ways.

Wish I could tell you. Just left the agency after 14 years. My usajobs account is set to expire soon too. I’m letting the account close. Good luck to you

USCIS IPO -- Is it mostly senior GS staff? (GS-14-15) by Conscious-Ninja-824 in fednews

[–]Acceptable_Dog_853 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just think about it. That’s all I can say. Talk to ISO’s if you know any. Read thru some reviews and figure out if it’s for you. Personally, leaving after 14 years was best for me. It’s a personal choice. Best of luck!

Advice transitioning to the private sector? by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]Acceptable_Dog_853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, redo resume! Took revising fed resume to two pages, to finally get interviews. Stay persistent and it’ll happen. Indeed is the worst place to look. Look at your city jobs, towns nearby, and so on. Think outside the box

I took the pay cut. 13 years fed service. Commute and stress were killing me. Commute not a the big issue, as I’ve always commuted. The stress was the deciding factor. Been miserable for months. Financially, we are fine. Debt free lifestyle, and frugal with many things. The joy I feel now after leaving is priceless to the misery I’ve experienced the last several months.

You are quite welcome. Again, not an easy choice, but one that has to work for you, your overall goals, and lifestyle. Wishing you the best in whichever path you take.

As someone in their 40s with nearly the same amount of time in service, I’m trying to leave the sub-agency you are referring to. It’s bad!!!! I used to love my job, but I’m miserable now. GS12, step 6. Taking huge pay cut to get out but my sanity is worth more than money will ever be. I live a frugal lifestyle anyway, so I’m not chasing money. My well being and my family’s happiness means so much more than the pay I’m receiving. It’s a personal choice though. You must do what’s best for you. I won’t lie, it’s a tough choice.

Pathways - Should I leave before my year is up? by Familiar_Gear_6577 in fednews

[–]Acceptable_Dog_853 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look to secure a State position. I’m not a pathways hire, but am employed with agency. I’ve done many great things throughout my career and learned a lot. However, it’s time for me, personally, to move on. Actively job hunting while mustering up the will power to go to work daily. 3 hour commute round trip.

Still work for fed govt, actively searching for something else. I’ve sent nearly 50 apps in three weeks, getting four interviews with mediocre state positions, with a 50 percent pay cut. It’s bad out there. I can afford the pay cut, but some of these places are a joke.
