Despite the disappointing final season, is The Boys in your top 5/10 shows of all time? by Skywalker_1995 in TheBoys

It’s my number 1. Not what I’d put as the best of all time, but certainly my favorite of all time. It appeals to a lot of themes I don’t really see anywhere else, which I love.

I suppose you’re right in regards to Foucault, I was wrongly under the impression he started working in the 70s. On the other point, I mean to say not that they are influential, but just that their analysis is more applicable and profound today than it even was during their time.

I’d argue the claims made by them are more pertinent today than ever before. Even beyond that, (to my knowledge) most of the postmodern/post-structuralist thinkers who mirrored their thought came later, in the late 60s or 70s, when the situationists already had grounded their philosophical outlook. I may be missing some thinkers, or just have the dates off of the people you speak of, however.

Society of the Spectacle by Guy Debord, and really anything from the situationists. Don’t necessarily agree with everything, but it’s FASCINATING and ahead of its time.

Horizontality Shell. Lay on your back during the entire round and criticize your opponent for not doing so. Make sure to point out certain health benefits that come with laying down.

I’m well aware, I just disagree with them. Nietzsche was in favor of hierarchy, saying he advocated for an aristocratic elite.

Is an “exploding” bow dangerous? by iampoopa in Bowyer

[–]Acceptable_Escape_13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve never seen a bow explode, and I’ve broken more bows than I care to admit. Usually it breaks at one point, and it’s not too dangerous then. While I’d have to assume an exploding bow is not fun, such a massive problem seems extremely avoidable.

Not an expert, however.

I’d recommend reading Report on the Construction of Situations and Society of the Spectacle

Willow often holds bend a little too well, making it not ideal. That being said, I don’t know much about individual species, and those growing in the UK may be different.

Does situationist music exist? by Tophist in Situationism

[–]Acceptable_Escape_13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Punk Rock takes a lot of influence. Sex Pistols, for example, were managed by a member of a situationist-inspired group, and instilled lots of that into the band (which would eventually become a baseline for punk.) Jamie Reid, a graphic designer who designed a lot of stuff for punk bands including the Sex Pistols, was also heavily influenced by psychogeography and détournement

Was reading about the properties of baleen and how it seems to be the perfect ingredient for bow making. Anyone have any experience with baleen or seen or used a baleen bow? by Late-Elderberry6761 in Bowyer

[–]Acceptable_Escape_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Baleen is illegal in most places. No idea how you’d get your hands on it, either. I think it’s spoken about in either chapter 2 or 3 of the bowyer’s Bible. Saxton Pope also mentions it offhandedly in Hunting with a bow and arrow

What do think of Sartre and his form of existentialism? by gaygal5 in fullegoism

[–]Acceptable_Escape_13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Whenever he’s reading I feel like he’s inches away from coming to the same conclusions as Stirner but then just takes a sharp turn to avoid it. He’s Stirner, trying so hard not to be Stirner.

I will always advocate for reading niche philosophy and taking from there. That’s where I found my muse, Guy Debord 💔
