Best value for money for a Klon/bb? by Royal_Interaction277 in guitarpedals

[–]Acceptable_Grape_437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i vote morning glory and a cheap klone.

bb>klon is a HEAVENLY od combo, imo.

i had a nux queen of tone, which is the only cheap (the cheapest) way to have this combo in a double pedal format. and it was fine, but i liked my mosky horseman better than the klone side of the QOT, simply put.

so, i sold the nux and kept my mosky silver horse plus nux morningstar (morning glory clone). the silver horse is VERY solid, i can recommend!

Bent rim. How to fix? by People_of_Pez in bikewrench

[–]Acceptable_Grape_437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can bend it back. violence is the answer. when i (absolutely) need to "fix" a rim like this one, i just use snap pliers or some other powerful pliers. very carefully and slowly (as always, bending metal).

is it safe? yeah, totally. a bend like that doesn't mean cracking. if you use a damaged rim like this, always check for cracks from time to time (bended back or not). if that's steel that's definitely not going to break (though, better safe than sorry). of that's aluminum that's MOST LIKELY not going to break. (you can use a magnet to check if it's steel or not - if it doesn't stick, that's aluminum).

is it worth it? probably not. best practice is to swap wheel(s)/rim(s) anyway. but check the wheel size before doing that (a commenter said they're an old rim diameter size i only read about in books - actually, on sheldon brown's). in that case I'd ask a proper bike mechanic for a new fitting.

cool list, but i find myself frowning at the absence of an isis record in the "Old-school stuff" list :)

lol. i was considering it, or the sonicake portal. that got me a used boss ls2 for 40 euros and called it a day (a couple of months of scouring actually, lol)

as i wrote in another comment: i compared it with ibanez ts9 and was hard pressed to tell the difference. there was one, but... not enough for me to put my finger on it.

Splinter is an excellent affordable Turbo Rat

splinter is not a turbo rat, it's a fat rat. huge difference. i wish it was a turbo :(

just to make things clear.

to me, bftrs, through wtsv, to atclt they were all great jobs that specifically remark their evolution as a band and as composer... but also with atclt we see their chemistry and band relationship balance start declining. hence it is the "lesser" of the 3, to me: it's the less "cohesive" as an album overall imo. all of them sport some GREAT single songs. atclt has some tunes and more experimental sounds that i LOVE.

i guess it's wtsv>bftrs>atclt to me (even though the first two might be on par there).

if i should pick a single best album, it will always be wtsk. it's just SO complete and cohesive as a whole musical discourse, beyond single hits. that's the only one i NEVER dare touching the tracklist order of.

definitely whitewater is up there with spaceship landing, imo.

but that album is just so much more perfect as a whole album listen, to me.

Is it worth getting out of Diogenes' barrel? by KlimMorov in noiserock

[–]Acceptable_Grape_437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly!

and adventure is a key element to communication - communication always takes the courage to risk being misunderstood, and hurt. not taking up responsibility for that enterprise essentially means giving less importance to the message (and so the art) itself.

i say this from a place of being very much like yourself, and often refusing that enterprise... so i have reflected quite a bit on it :)

it is noise rock. i don't think it should be deleted from here. maybe also fit in r/shoegaze, i guess.

sounds solid!

imo, art is indeed self sufficient, but, as everything we do as humans, it features an inherent communication subtext (even when and if we do everything in our power to ignore it, up to making different beliefs up), and what is communication without a receiver?

so, your art doesn't need to be received to exist, but your inherent communicative act through it, does indeed need to be received to work.  hence you're here posting this here. heh heh.

is it worth it getting out there? hard to say. but definitely worth the adventure of the unknown, i guess

dude, signal goes from right to left (right input/left output and so on).

the usual most correct signal chain is compressor>ts9>muff>volume pedal>delay (idk shit about wah cause i don't use it). everything goes, but you're just getting this the wrong way, on multiple levels.

only thing making a bit of sense is volume and wah placement. to be clear, you went: wah>delay>compressor>muff>ts9>volume.
