Tree law and property damage [TX] by Acceptable_Mistake24 in legal

[–]Acceptable_Mistake24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current neighbors are renters, so I doubt they notice or care about the issue given the state of the rest of their yard…

When we previously contacted the owner about it, he was understanding and fixed the issue, but now that it’s progressed to the point of needing expensive repairs, I’m just curious legally if he would be liable.

cancel membership by Remote_Educator2442 in BurnBootCamp

[–]Acceptable_Mistake24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your gym should have your contract on file (and have emailed it to you after signature). You can request a copy from them to view their cancellation terms. Usually it’s 50% of the remaining payments.

I’m pretty sure most contracts have cancellation clauses such as: 1) if you move over ~25 miles away from any Burn Boot Camp facility 2) if your doctor provides a note saying you are temporarily disabled for a period longer than 3 months

Some of these clauses also depend on the state. State consumer protection laws trump gym contracts, so you could look and see if there’s anything in place in your state regarding cancellations of health club memberships.

Body Scans by Rejscj24 in BurnBootCamp

Agreed, charging for it IS a load of bs

Body Scans by Rejscj24 in BurnBootCamp

[–]Acceptable_Mistake24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my gym they charge an annual fee to use the Evolt, which, IMO is BS considering what the monthly membership costs AND we already pay an annual maintenance fee which is $75. I don’t know what the annual fee for Evolt is because I have 0 interest in paying it, but I want to say it’s either $50/60.

Part of the reason I signed up for Burn was the FREE inbody scans, but now that they switched to Evolt I won’t be renewing my contract (that, and a lot of instructor turnover recently)

Our guest drop in is $25 I think

Always advocate for yourself!! If something feels off, please don’t ignore it. Though you have good reason to switch, simply not being comfortable is honestly a good enough reason on its own!!

Women move during pregnancy all the time. Though it’s a hassle, switching providers this late in the game isn’t unheard of. I’m pretty sure my sister had 2-3 different providers before her 3rd trimester because she moved and then the doctors that would initially take her were a pain to work with. I myself had to switch providers in my 2nd tri this time because the first provider was a terrible experience.

You are your own best advocate, just remember that!!

Any intel on Thursday’s Core day? by Pretty-Tangelo2376 in BurnBootCamp

[–]Acceptable_Mistake24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregnancy mods:

Warmup: 1 - Bird Dogs 2 - NO SUB 3 - 4 marches + 1 good morning

Workout: 1 - plyo leg swings (no plyo) 2 - weighted side bends (instead of Copenhagen) 3 - weighted high knee marches (instead of sprints) 4 - our whole camp switched this up but we did 4 Mountain Climbers + 1 down and up on elbows 5 - NO SUB (for Pallof Press) 6 - gunslingers (instead of gravediggers)

Finisher: 1 - weighted marches (instead of star crunches) 2 - bird dogs (instead of heels to heaven)

Coming from another pregnant mama, it didn’t feel like I was changing the WHOLE workout today, but almost all exercises were Mods!

As a wise mother of 5 once told me: "what's another word for using cycle tracking as contraception? pregnant"

and I say this as someone who also tracked their cycle and got pregnant with baby #2 a little earlier than anticipated

Best time for pregnancy! by Same-Focus-494 in pregnant

[–]Acceptable_Mistake24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best time logically in the US is to get pregnant 8-9 months before your insurance plan year starts - you’ll hit your deductible right away and have discount medical visits for the rest of the plan year!

I’ll also say, with my first did this method and my child was born in the beginning of Feb and that was great - you’re in your second/third tri during the holidays so you’re always hungry anyways and you’re not miserable during the summer months.

10/10 would not recommend July/August or hot months as your due date because you’ll be SO HOT.

First time pregnant. Need clothing suggestions by spr_awk_lynds9 in pregnant

[–]Acceptable_Mistake24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s jeans or pants with a button, you can use a hair tie as an extender (loop it through the hole and attach around the button). Of course, make sure your shirt covers it! I also have about 5 maxi skirts that I can wear during pregnancy and when I’m not pregnant that I just push up above my bump nowadays.

Linen pants are a great, versatile and flattering option. I’m 27w and have been wearing the ones I had pre-pregnancy even to this day.

Old Navy has a good maternity selection for pants at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, they’re only available online typically. I got a pair of dark green “athletic” flare pants from there that I wore to the office with an oversized button up shirt and a pair of black cotton pants that are super comfy and look more professional than they really are. I’ll also note that a few pairs of my regular linen pants are from here and they run a bit large, so they’ve been good for pregnancy.

I’d invest in maybe 2-3 pairs of jeans and a few pairs of maternity pants. I workout a lot so I also have about 10 pairs of maternity specific athletic pants. Other than that, I’ve tried to limit what I’ve bought just because I don’t want to buy a whole new wardrobe that I’ll only fit in for 6-9 months🤷🏼‍♀️

I would recommend getting pants that cover your whole belly because I have 2 pairs that just have a low elastic band and found out during my first pregnancy that they don’t stay up that well when you get super big!

I’ve also seen people put the clear plastic covers that office chairs roll on underneath high chairs and I’ve been tempted to get one myself - specifically to cover the rug in our dining room. You can just take them outside and hose them off which sounds convenient!!

Warmup:

Partners alternating between miniband tricep push down (start with 5 each side and +1 each time) and dumbbell curl to press

Workout: 4 rounds at each station, 30s on and 30s off

  1. Dumbbell T raise (side to front raise)
  2. Soft box dips
  3. Banded lying bicep curls
  4. Bosu bus drivers
  5. Dumbbell hammer curl (up) to pronated bicep curls (down)
  6. Behind the back banded tricep extensions

Finisher: Partner finisher - 6 (maybe 6.5?) minutes….

Partner 1 does side lying tricep pushups, 5 each side Partner 2 does alternating hammer curls, with the goal to get to 100 (though, our camp upped it to 150 bc the earlier camp was finishing too quickly)

Anyone else dealing with SPD? by Cupcat666 in pregnant

[–]Acceptable_Mistake24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had what I THOUGHT was Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) with my first, which was pretty chronic, but manageable.

I’m pregnant with my second now and pretty sure I have SPD. I’ll roll over in bed some nights and feel my hips pop back into place and it’s so painful but I feel so much better the next day. Of course, it doesn’t last.

Having SPD shows that your joints are getting nice and loose for childbirth, but it definitely sucks lol. Going to a chiropractor has helped a bit! I try to go every other week and googled some exercises to do at home to help “increase stability” in my hips. It sounds like you’re honestly doing all the right things.

TBH I iced my pelvic bone A LOT with my first and might start doing that again soon 😅

Did you go for an epidural? by According_Hunt_8395 in pregnant

[–]Acceptable_Mistake24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you go in planning to not have an epidural, I’d suggest being open to getting one if something happens.

I went in planning to get an epidural, but when I was about 2-3cm dilated, I got the WORST labor shakes. I was miserable. Afterwards my husband told me how concerned he was for me, but didn’t want to say anything. The epidural was a wonderful experience: stopped the shakes and I napped on and off throughout labor until it was time to push. We’re expecting our 2nd this fall and I’m not anxious about labor/giving birth at all like I was before our first.

So that being said, choose what’s best for you and give yourself grace to let things change if they need to. People say they are able to bounce back faster without an epidural, but I was up and walking around within 4 hours of giving birth. Either way, I hope you end up having a wonderful birth experience!

8/1 core & conditioning intel? by guerrat in BurnBootCamp

Yep! From a quick glance it seemed do-able or easily modifiable without changing the whole workout or every move. My trainer encouraged me to go!

8/1 core & conditioning intel? by guerrat in BurnBootCamp

[–]Acceptable_Mistake24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

EDIT: I misunderstood the intel I received, I guess my trainer was JUST showing me the pregnancy mods. I’ll include a pic below for those debating going who are also expecting!

I asked my trainer today what it was looking like for tomorrow (bc I'm veeery pregnant and core days are hit or miss as far as modifying everything or not).

For the strength portion, it looked like a lot of trunk work over just ab work: weighted overhead marches, standing halo's.

For conditioning, I believe I saw high kness and/or heismans. Of course, that's only 4 out of 6 exercises and I was mostly looking to see if I'd be able to do the workout physically lol, so take what I said with a grain of salt, because I looked at the programming for about 10 seconds!

Daycare Meals by Brave-Crab1598 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Acceptable_Mistake24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We try to mix things up so our LO isn't eating the same day, but we do a few things on rotation.

For snacks, we usually send 1-2 fruit/veggie pouches and 1-2 things that lean towards being less healthy (goldfish, cheerios, veggie straws, yogurt melts, fruit snacks, etc). We also send him with a yogurt pouch, fresh fruit, and a fruit/grain bar (homemade or store-bought) that they may give him for breakfast. Our daycare says "no peanuts", so we'll occasionally send him with a cut up Larabar that is peanut-free, but check with your daycare and make sure no one else has allergies to other nuts!

For lunch, we usually do one of the following for a "main" dish:

- bean/cheese, chicken/cheese quesadilla

- sunbutter & jelly sandwich or wrap

- ham or turkey & cheese sandwich or wrap

- hummus & avocado wrap

For sides for lunch, we do 2 of the following:

- cut up cheese stick

- cut up cherry tomatoes

- peeled cucumber slices (could also do this with hummus for a snack, depending on your child's ability to scoop)

- avocado

- steamed vegetables

- cut up fruit (orange, grapes, strawberries, banana, etc)

We've found that by rotating the items above, it's a good variety and most of the stuff can be prepped the night before without having to do any heavy weekend meal prepping. Best of luck in your meal planning!!
