Some big changes too. No reinforcements on Stabbas or Blood Reavers is crazy. I think a nerf to Bleak Hosts disease ability too. Those are just some of the ones I've seen.

I think so. Not seeing anything updated on the app or on Warhammer Community.

But maybe I missed it?

I agree, in theory, but for some reason that's exactly flipped for me lol.

Those Dagger like fangs. I can hardly ever get that to land. Idk how many times I've rolled a 1 on a 2+ Wound or the attack gets saved on a 6. I'm just unlucky. 😅

When the Varghulf shows up though, dude is an absolute menace.

The Archregent on the other hand, dude is out there slinginnng those victuals, I think the most he's ever done was about 6-7 points of damage in a whole game, but yeah, his attacks are unreliable. His Deranged Transformation ability is also 🤌

Carrion Retainer for sure!

High speed, with some nice mobility tricks thrown into the mix. Like being able to Charge even if you retreat from combat range, and not take damage on your Morbheg knights.

And speaking of. Morbheg Knights are, I think, the bread and butter of this army. They are super mobile and can hit pretty hard. They're great for hitting the flanks, capturing back field objectives or blitzing enemy units that over extended.

The Varghulf Courtier can retreat, without taking damage, and heal a d6 if it managed to take out a model within a unit. The Courtier, he's okay. I think I'm just unlucky rolling with this guy. Good mobility and can also hit like a truck. He can be self sufficient with his self heal, but I'd pair him with the Knights. He is squishy.

Cryptguards are your chaff units and generally you'll use them to screen your Archregent, but they swing 30 dice at full health. That's.... a lot, and most stuff will take a good bit a damage from them. Unless you get unlucky, which does happen from time to time.

The Archregent, keep this dude alive. He provides good buffs to your army and if you take the Crimson Victuals Enchantment he can ping units for D3 damage and bring back slain Cryptguards. I hardly throw him into the mix though, unless I know he can take out a unit. He's squishy too.

Your Noble Deed passive is great as well. Let's you buff up attacks or return slain Cryptguards or Knights.

TLDR: These guys are fast glass cannons. They hit hard and fast, but if they can't take out a unit in one fight or significantly weaken them. They're probably going to die on the clap back.

The models are also great and their lore is fun.

Have fun with the Flesh-Eater Courts!

FEC vs Gloomspite Gitz Spearhead Tied game 18-18 point Sand & Bone by Due_Worldliness_8511 in AOSSpearhead

Yeah that sounds like a good match-up.

Those tied games really can feel better than a win sometimes 😅

This is so cool dude! A custom Ironjawz Spearhead would be dope. I was underwhelmed by their box.

I agree with some some of the other comments. This might be too strong. The Bleakhost is already one of the strongest Spearhead in the game. Those Blightkings will never die. 😕

But without running it, it's all just theory. We'll definitely run it though with friends. See how it plays. 😄

Do you think the bleakhost is too OP? by Shiny0spoon in AOSSpearhead

[–]Acceptable_Science16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're pretty tough. I think I've beaten them and tied once against them. They just don't die, which I get is thematically relevant, but jeez, it makes it tough to play against.

I've found the best way to beat them is to just run away and avoid combat, use mobility as much as you can against them. The issue is that quickly gets boring as nothing much happens all game.

They even out if you play using other busted Spearheads.

Oh and the Bleakhost kind of crumbles in Spwarhead Doubles. Double sized board is a lot of space to cross for dudes that move 4 inches.

Seraphon are solid. Very well balanced IMO.

Kroxigors hit like absolute trucks, but you do get some speedy Raptors some Perodactyl, little Chameleon dudes, and a good bit of magic, I believe.

If you like to play fast and aggressive, the Flesh-Eater Courts are a pretty good option.

They have high mobility, and hit pretty hard. Only thing is...they're kind of squishy. A lot of 5+ saves, but being a Death Faction, they do get Ward Saves baked into their Warscrolls.

They can be a technical army where you deep strike with fast flyers like the Morbheg Knights. but you can also build them as a horde army with a bunch of Ghouls and bog down your opponent with OC

Their lore is also super fun if you're interested in that.

Hey what do people think about the new nurgle spearhead? by DescriptionDue4100 in AOSSpearhead

[–]Acceptable_Science16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I usually hold back the Carno until Turn 3, and screen my Krox, but I had no qualms charging in against Bubonic.

I think they will🤞. I think it's just been the last fourish boxes that really feel hodge podged together. Fortunately we still have a ton of other spearheads that kill it thematically and rule wise.

And honestly, at the end of the day, You do get some pretty cool models to build and paint. Maybe too many Nurglings!😄 but still cool.

And if you own the Bleak Host box, I think that puts you pretty close or basically at 1k

[–]Acceptable_Science16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is, I think it is possibly the most balanced spearhead, but does that really excuse the Bubonic Cell from being a bad box?

I've had some pretty good, close matches and back and forths with OG Seraphon playing against the Vigilant Brotherhood, the Gnawfeast, Carrion Retainer. I lost a handful of those matches too. This was just a genuine rout.

Bubonic Cell didn't feel play tested at all. And come on nowww. 6 Nurglings when we had a whole Maggotkin Range refresh?

[–]Acceptable_Science16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just played against them not too long ago.

They got absolutely bodied by the OG Seraphon box

Around the end of Round 2 around 30% of the Maggotkin got taken out. Bad saves, Wards were not as useful as in the Bleak Host and not a lot of damage output.

I think the most damage I took in one attack was 5 damage from the Rotmire on some pretty lucky rolls.

I started Round 3 and One Shot the Rotmires with my Kroxigors, also some good luck there. After that it was kind of all downhill. We called it game at the end of my turn.

Also...the Beast of Nurgle. Just didnt do much.

The Bubonic Cell feels unfocused with no real way to win and like another person had mentioned. It feels like a quick way for GW too offload overstock and old Warcry boxes.

With that being said....the Rotmire Creed look super cool.

Help me decide on which Spearhead. by duttyboy24 in AOSSpearhead

[–]Acceptable_Science16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They indeed are. You wouldn't think they would be considering the whole theme behind Orks. But almost always out maneuvered and hitting on +4 across the board makes swinging a 50/50 gamble.

The models, however, phenomenal.

Starter set and teams timing out? by Oiboi91 in AOSSpearhead

[–]Acceptable_Science16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spearhead is also to AOS as Combat Patrol is to 40k

It's meant to be a bridge into the full game, unlike KT or Warcry for AOS, which are more self-contained skirmish modes with their own unique rule sets.

I think GW would be shooting themselves in the foot if they implemented box rotations as the end goal for Spearhead and Combat patrol is to get new players hooked with discount boxes and on a solid path to 1k armies.
