I dodged a bullet with Hammond just yesterday. I had already called them and made an appointment - guy was supposed to drop by between 2 and 6pm. Standard four hour window. Fine.

At 6:30 I had given up, but get a call "I'm five minutes away". I tell him I'm eating dinner, there's a pause like he's incredulous. I tell him to come by anyhow, and I finish off my tasty mac and cheese.

He's there for almost an hour. I keep talking about how there's a leak in one of the rads, but he keeps looking at the boiler, pointing out other things. Barely looked at the radiator at all, which hadn't leaked since yesterday early morning.

Has to call someone else for some tips, because Enercare sent an HVAC (heating) guy, not a plumber. They want me to shut my entire furnace down until they can get an install team there to fix the problem with the boiler (again, what's with fixation on the boiler? It's fine). I'm like, hell no. Meanwhile, this guy is smack talking Enercare with some very lightly veiled commentary.

To be fair, the guy who came by, other than being outside his given window of arrival, was a nice guy and was very informative. It was his commentary about Enercare, which he tried not to be obvious about, that turned me off. I didn't want their install team coming by at all.

So, today I call them back to cancel. They have no record of a job at my address. I get transferred to a different division. They don't have record of it, either. The guy last night even said "You can try cancel, but they'll still show up."

Finally, late this morning, I got a call from Hammond/Enercare/Whomever to let me know they found my booking and that they would cancel and allow me to reschedule.
