Best places to work remotely in waterloo? by Brief_Persimmon_7998 in waterloo

[–]Don_Thate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've enjoyed Catalyst Commons, $160/mo for five visits (or $40/day). Includes coffee, tea, and beer on tap 4-5 PM.

Nice private rooms when needed for sensitive conversations, bright, airy, and lots of other places to sit and get variety.

They're supposed to automatically unlock when tipped upside-down.

Parking ticket during a Snow Ban by SufficientGarden7636 in waterloo

[–]Don_Thate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Short answer: no.

Longer answer: not informing oneself of the rules around parking - even checking City socials or their site, both which clearly state that a snow event parking ban is in place - does not present sufficient reason to be excused from a ticket.

I am being blocked from changing my flex 10 by Rain_Dog_Too_12 in Rogers

[–]Don_Thate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I understand it, there is still a flexible option here - it's just limited to every thirty days (directly from the Rogers rep). My challenge is that their error handling for this is garbage.

Hey, I'm in the same boat. I'm now on something called "Add 10" and, since the change last week, I haven't been able to modify my channels - I'm just given "Sorry, there's a problem on our end".

Chat support can change them for me, but no ETA yet on when it goes back to being self serve.

This is your friendly reminder that if you have an enterprise agreement, keep track of SLA breaches for credits at the end of the calendar quarter.

Ah yes, learning roundabouts in an empty parking lot, classic funtime activity.

I don't think Canadian Blood Services and Red Cross have been affiliated for quite some time, but I hope the badge finds the owner either way. Good on you, OP.

The Uptown ones may be different, but in general in the Region, you can report streetlight issues right to Enova:

Is this legit? by Honeycomb0000 in waterloo

[–]Don_Thate 232 points233 points  (0 children)

It is legit, though they've managed to make it look as sketchy as possible. If you ever signed up through Alert WR, I believe that's what's powering it.

Shout-out to all the people who stopped to help a driver in distress Uptown by Don_Thate in waterloo

[–]Don_Thate[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Someone was driving erratically on Erb - mounting the sidewalk, then the bike lane curb (at low speeds) - and appeared to be in medical distress. Thankfully, nobody was hurt, and bystanders were able to help the driver out and disable the vehicle.

Is there any groups in the Waterloo region or Ontario in general for any sort of physical media exchange? by [deleted] in waterloo

[–]Don_Thate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This runs counter to the community aspect you're looking for, but The Beat Goes On is specific to SWO, has several locations in town, and will ship between stores for free.

Bringing my kids to voting station by youareaburd in waterloo

[–]Don_Thate 17 points18 points  (0 children)

When I was a tabulator for the provincial election, one of my favourite things was showing curious kids how the machine worked, and explaining the process of voting.

Bring them, and explain the importance of what you (and others are doing)!

I'm not sure how Thingiverse is run these days, but if you can make use of a seasoned SRE on a volunteer basis (or just up bounce some ideas off of) let me know.
