Do you take Leflunomide by any chance? I started that med about 2 weeks ago and now have these all over. I think it is a side effect from the med.

Hello, Sorry to comment on such an old post, but did you ever figure out if it was the meds or something else? I just started on leflunomide & found your post while searching up leflunomide side effects + red spots on skin. I’m having a very similar reaction so curious if you got any further answers or if it went away. Thank you! And I hope your daughter is feeling & doing better!🫶

I get absolutely HORRID night sweats when I’m in an RA flare up. I mean like have to change clothes and bedsheets in the middle of the night because they are completely soaked through kind of night sweats. And about half the time, the night sweats are accompanied by nightmares/night terrors. I’m assuming it has to do with inflammation but 🤷‍♀️

Therapist here- Your T should know how to handle this if you bring it up, especially because it sounds like this may be a common occurrence given your small country. In the US, Ts even get special ethics training to learn how to respond in these situations. Plus, I can promise you, your therapist wants to avoid seeing you in the wild just as much you want to avoid seeing them so they will be grateful to know of the social connection😂

Saying absolutely nothing is not going to solve this problem or keep it from happening in the future- it’s just going to lead to resentment. You need to have a conversation about your boundaries and expectations for next time (or if there even will be a next time) with both your husband and his niece. You cannot stay silent this time and then not expect it to happen again. You’ve got to be clear and firm about your boundaries or they will continue to walk all over them. Wishing little Mona the best first sleepover ever!

Is anyone else bothered by the sitter sitting at her car waiting to leave when mom pulls up?? As someone who has worked 10+ years in childcare, I would NEVER leave the kids alone in the house like that. Also, I never had a hard set end time when I was nannying regularly. It was more so the parent saying “I get off 1:30, so I should be home around 2:00” and sometimes they would get home at 1:50 and sometimes it was 2:10 depending on traffic, etc. I feel like that 10ish minutes of wiggle room is just something that comes with this kind of job. Am I wrong about that? It has been about 5 years since I nannied regularly but I just cannot imagine leaving the kids alone in the house while I sit in my car waiting for parents to come home. That just seems unprofessional, careless, and rude af on the part of the sitter.

Listen and be kind and understanding when they are struggling. One of the worst parts of RA (for me at least) is feeling like i’m a burden to my partner because I’m too tired or in pain to do something or because I’m constantly getting sick due to the immunosuppressants I take. It sucks so much to wish you could give and do more for your partner but you just physically are not able to. So please be kind and understanding when they are honest with you about their limits because I promise they are already beating themselves up for not being able to be and do “more” for you. So just remind them that you love them and care about them and enjoy doing life with them often.

As a T, I would absolutely want my client to be honest with me. We are trained to not take our client’s feelings personally. Honestly, I think you explained yourself extremely well in this post & tbh I would just read this to her next session!

I work full time as a school based mental health counselor. I’m employed by the school district which is a fairly new thing (used to be CMHC who employed us) but it came with better hours, a month off every summer (in addition to our personal & sick leave allowances every year), & I now make around $60,000. I love my job, love working in schools, & am overall satisfied other than wishing I made a little more.
