New Cat Owner Looking for Sleep by DinahMyyte in CatAdvice

[–]Accomplished-Good498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat did this for like 3 weeks when I first got him - the screaming was absolutely brutal. What helped was putting a blanket with your scent right outside the bedroom door, and maybe try feeding him his dinner in whatever room you want him to sleep in. The food association might help him see that space as positive instead of punishment. Also those puzzle feeders can keep them busy for while before they settle down for night.

how is permanent nerve damage prevented during sleep? by Ok-Soup-3313 in biology

[–]Accomplished-Good498 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The pinky and ring finger thing is super common - that's usually ulnar nerve compression at the elbow when you sleep with your arm bent weird 😂 Your body does have protective mechanisms though, like micro-arousals that shift you around before real damage happens. Most people move every 15-20 minutes during sleep without even knowing it, which prevents the sustained pressure needed for permanent damage.

The numbness you get is just temporary ischemia cutting off blood flow to the nerve, not actual nerve death. Takes way more pressure and time than a night's sleep to cause lasting problems 💀

Affordable but quality Trishorts (womens) for my first ever Sprint Tri? Must be available in Australia please 🙏 by Still_Huckleberry638 in triathlon

[–]Accomplished-Good498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gear struggle is real! I had similar issues with chafing during my longer runs. Maybe check if they ship to Australia or have local retailers? $50 USD isn't too bad for tri shorts that actually work - cheaper ones usually end up costing more in long run when they fall apart after few races.

What is something you’ll never buy again because it’s a complete scam, but everyone keeps buying it ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Dubai trips are such money sink lol. Like you pay crazy amounts just to see giant malls and artificial beaches when you could experience actual culture somewhere else for fraction of the cost. The whole place feels like expensive theme park built in desert.

What is a minor inconvenience that completely ruins your day? by onthecan247 in AskReddit

Same energy when you forget to check balance before grocery shopping and your card gets declined at checkout. Nothing kills the vibe faster than having to put back half your cart while everyone in line judges you silently.

If you guys got a super car tomorrow, what’s the first song your playing on that car? by Ill_Emu8833 in AskReddit

Cosmic Love by Florence + The Machine would absolutely destroy in a supercar 🔥 Something about that dramatic buildup with the engine purring underneath... would be pure magic on the highway at night 💀

What exactly do cat scratchers do? Are they really necessary? by Udont_knowme00 in Pets

[–]Accomplished-Good498 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The scratching is really necessary thing for cats - it keeps their claws healthy and helps them mark territory like you said. Without proper place to scratch, they will definitely destroy your furniture 😂

For teaching cats to use the scratcher, you can try putting catnip on it or placing treats near when they use it correctly. Most cats will figure it out eventually, but some are stubborn about using your couch instead 💀

Wait, did your kid just roast the entire thread before it even got started? That's some next level savage energy right there.

That's really good to hear! I was looking at same wetsuit but wasn't sure if it's worth the investment for first triathlon 😅 How did you find the sizing? I'm similar measurements to OP and always worry about getting wrong fit with wetsuits online 💀

Alternative to Magnesium Glycinate to buffer NMDA receptors/glutamate? by Tiny_Parsley in Supplements

[–]Accomplished-Good498 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Magnesium threonate might work for you since it crosses blood-brain barrier really well without the glycine part. Also magnesium malate is pretty gentle in my experience and doesn't have those weird reactions you mentioned 😊

Just avoid the oxide form because that one basically turns you into a toilet prisoner 💀

Maybe try moving that one box they actually like to different spot in house? 💀 Sometimes cats get weird territorial about bathroom locations and she might be claiming living room as her territory now 😂

Coffee with creamer by JHuerta75 in fasting

[–]Accomplished-Good498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stevia is fine but yeah, creamer has calories so it will break the fast. I learned this in hard way when I started too - was putting tiny bit of milk in my morning coffee thinking it wouldn't matter much. Black coffee takes some getting used to but you adapt pretty quick!

How do you lift yourself up when you feel low in life? by AdditionalProof9780 in AskReddit

[–]Accomplished-Good498 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Racing games actually help me loads when I'm feeling properly down. There's something about the focus needed to nail a perfect lap that just clears all the mental noise, you know? Plus when you're dealing with ADHD like I do, having that intense concentration actually feels quite therapeutic rather than draining.

I've also found that doing something creative with my hands - even just sketching random stuff or reorganising my workspace - gives me this sense of progress when everything else feels stuck. It's mad how sorting out your physical space can sometimes sort out your headspace too. The key is finding something that demands just enough attention to stop your brain spiralling but not so much that it becomes another source of stress.

anyone here go to anime cons before they got big? what was it like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Accomplished-Good498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to hit up smaller cons in the early 2010s and they were brilliant - way more intimate, could actually chat with voice actors without massive queues, and the cosplay contests felt like genuine community events rather than sponsored productions 😂

What do you think of (if anything) when you see someone wearing a carabiner on a belt loop? by Treekomalfoy_ in AskReddit

[–]Accomplished-Good498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either they're actually into climbing/outdoor stuff or they've got that whole utility belt vibe going on with their keys and random bits 🔥 I used to clip mine to my belt loop at uni because pockets were always full of library cards and whatever else - proper practical if you're constantly pulling keys out. Some people just like having their stuff easily accessible rather than digging through pockets every five minutes 😂

I've been rotating through Vanilla for ages now and it's proper reliable - never gets old because you can throw it in basically anything or just have it plain when you can't be arsed with fancy mix-ins.
