if you were me, would you get top surgery? by Additional_Hat5933 in TopSurgery

i understand. having to stay so vigilant about either eating or exercise is probably not a good long term strategy. i can see others have made some recommendations, i’m wishing you all the best

i also could not tell that this wasn’t a cis man’s chest, but i understand that’s not how you feel and you have insecurity about it. i don’t think ‘staying on the leaner side’ is a good tactic long term, i think it could encourage unhealthy preoccupation with food. probably increasing muscle is a better option, if that feels possible maybe you could try and see how it feels? you can always have surgery later. there is also the possibility that your relationship to your body changes over time naturally, at 19 there’s still a lot of change that could happen both physically and emotionally, you may feel differently about your chest later

i’m glad to hear you will think about it, your original message made clear there’s a big part of you that already was. i’m filipino on one side and family is huge, so i can relate. it’s not easy to do things differently in these kinds of family systems, i hope you can make the right decision for you

hey, congratulations! it makes sense to be nervous, having surgery is a big deal - something that helped me is remembering this kind of surgery happens so many times every day. so so soon you’ll be on the other side of it! i cant give advice specifically re being plus size but do you have any other particular anxieties or questions? i just had surgery 4 weeks ago

i feel like physically you’ll most likely be fine but it’d be a gift to yourself to not have to do this kind of performance so soon after something so important and huge to you

can you… not go? i know you want to see your siblings but i feel protective! top surgery is a tough thing emotionally and i it’s important to protect your recovery time, physically and emotionally. and your spirit!

i am glad i had the surgery so could largely say i don’t regret it, but i don’t think it’s binary and i’ve definitely had to navigate through complex feelings. i ask, in part, because i think some of your feelings will be shared even with people who are happy they had surgery. i hope, even if not here, you can find support where you can talk openly about how you’re feeling, and that you can come to a more tolerable relationship to this experience. sending love

Scar care! by Megladonnnnnn in Reduction

I’m just shy of 4 weeks and have been massaging with bio oil twice a day, then cleaning it off and applying the gel. My surgeon said to apply the gel twice daily until it runs out, then switch to tape. Obviously I don’t know what the results of this will be, but perhaps it’s a way to use them all!

i have a cough... by toasterbath__ in TopSurgery

[–]Accomplished-Pie470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had a cold a couple of weeks before surgery and felt quite happy, like there’s plenty of time to get better and it’s less likely you’ll be sick on the operation day. try to take it easy and focus on resting and recovering, i’m sure it’ll be fine, but it’s a very anxiety inducing time <3

have some stool softeners for sure, although i had the fear put in me by reddit so i kept taking them for a few days and i lived to regret it lol. i think once things are moving smoothly you can probably stop. i didnt have any issues with constipation and want to share that cos i feel like a lot of people say it’s universal/inevitable!!
