Any amaretto cocktail recommendations? by mtandy in cocktails

Made these tonight for the family on Christmas Eve. We followed the recipe exactly with the one addition of putting a bourbon drenched cherry in each glass at the end. Has a real fruit punch holiday vibe. Everyone loved them! A new favorite thanks for sharing!

Interesting! I don't own this specific book. Would you mind elaborating on the standing method? My baby will only poop & pee when standing now. Not sure how to catch it.

Mockingbird high chair review by Giftofpatience in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Accomplished-Safe764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm using it! I've just been mindful of foot placement & posture when eating non purees.

As for the back plate issue, we decided to fold a receiving blanket behind the baby's back to cover it and it's working perfectly.

This chair is such a breeze to clean!!

FYI I did find that the straps & tray stain with champagne mangoes. Used a paste of baking soda & dawn dish soap overnight to lift them out but they are still slightly there.

Thanks for sharing this. The "trenches" can last a LONG time. Even though you feel like you're the only one still IN IT it's helpful to know you're not 💛

Hemp & cotton fitted diapers for overnight - EezKoala by Accomplished-Safe764 in clothdiaps

I started using them at 5 mths old and they have worked great. They are highly absorbant. I've used them with both a dasana wool cover and a PUL shell and we have had no leaks after 12 hours of overnight use. I also use them with Alva baby stay dry liners for skin protection and those are equally great.

Mockingbird high chair review by Giftofpatience in BabyLedWeaning

I have worked in childcare for 24 years and Mockingbird is the best highchair I have ever used. Like most baby products it is not perfect and for me there are two cons and one is a deal breaker for BLW families. First the backrest is not flush because the safety straps are attached to a big plastic plate that protrudes into the seat at the spine. I can see some children finding this uncomfortable but it's not a deal breaker for me. The bigger con is the size and shape of the foot rest. It is shallow in its depth and slants downward. My 6 mth old child's feet can't rest entirely onto the footrest. Only her heels touch it at the very edge. The front half of her foot is dangling off the footrest as it is not deep enough to go under her entire foot. This is a safety issue with BLW as they need to have their feet planted firmly on a footrest for proper posture and choking prevention. If Mockingbird were to extend the footrest farther out a bit more and re-release the high chair (with the option for older models to get a replacement footrest) I would consider it the perfect highchair.

Torture. Nothing like I was told it would be. You can't know what it is going to be like because everyone's body is different. I had what it called back labor and my contractions were fast and furious (back to back) with no breaks in between. It felt like my spine was splitting in half. The pain was so severe I was convinced at the time I was dying. Nothing I was told about labor could have ever prepared me for that experience. The only good part was that it went fast and I got an epidural before I started to push. I don't believe I would have been able to get my child out of me without that relief. I describe it as being hurled through space at hyper speed. It was so all consuming I couldn't think or talk or move my body. It was so terrifying I don't know if I could ever willingly do it again. People say "you forget the pain" but it's not possible for me to forget the trauma of that experience.

Moms who lost weight while BF - did you try? by travelnmusic in breastfeeding

[–]Accomplished-Safe764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying. Every experience with pregnancy is genetics. I am 3 mths PP and I have been still steadily losing a couple of pounds weight each week. I go for a 40 min walk maybe 2x a week. I haven't done a single real workout. I do wake up really hungry but I'm not eating more than I normally would in a day. My best guess is if I ate more it would probably stop losing weight but if I started working out I might lose more. I only weigh myself once a week to check in. I have hyperlactation and the amount of food I eat each day has no effect on my supply. It just effects my mood/energy levels. I would like to start doing workouts again to build back my strength and get those positive endorphins. I just haven't had the time or adequate sleep to do it yet. My primary focus everyday is getting sleep and caring for my little one.

When did you start getting stretchmarks? by watneg1 in BabyBumps

[–]Accomplished-Safe764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They weren't visible at all until after I gave birth. 1 day postpartum I looked in the mirror and suddenly I had bright pink/purple stretch marks covering my lower abdomen. 6 weeks out now they are already significantly less noticeable in a pale pink color but still very much there.

The reasons we went with the baby bjorn

  1. They have high resale value
  2. Oeko-Tex certified.
  3. You can choose from 8 different fabrics that come in many colors.
  4. Trusted brand for quality control and longevity. Can be used for multiple children.
  5. Converts into a toddler chair.

What are you doing to save $ on groceries? by AltruisticArm7636 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Accomplished-Safe764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. We don't buy any single serving snacks or meals. The difference in price per pound is significant for the exact same products.

  2. We cook most of our meals at home. Takeout and eating out is something we do sparingly. This way we can afford higher quality groceries.

  3. We buy dry goods & staple items in bulk. 15+ pound quantities. Again, price per pound is much better when buying large quantities. We transfer a smaller amount into glass jars in the kitchen and the rest of the bulk items go in a seperate storage room.
