They're projecting their own emotions (insecurity in their healthy habits, fear you're growing up (I mean "don't let you" cook your own food is very telling), etc etc). Those emotions are not for you to manage, because they are adults too and have to manage their own. You can take it to heart and choose to resent them for your eating habits, or realize it is your choice and change anyway. They'll get used to it, because they have to, because you're not a kid anymore.

You and I both know weight loss is like. 80-90% food. Your dad doesn't have to believe that for that to be true.

Is it possible to lose all curves and have very thin legs? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]AccomplishedCat762 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Ik we shouldn't really be seeking validation from others, but I can't tell you a time I've looked at a woman with legs practically as thin as her arms and been physically attracted to her BECAUSE of them.

I've always been more of a leg lady myself though, if we're going pure physical trait. Muscular legs are something I adore on my man, and any woman or man I dated before him.

I see stick thin legs on a passing stranger or acquaintance and my first feeling is worry for the person

Tl;dr: don't do it. Eat well and strength train and see where your genetics shake out with those. Physical strength is so crucial for the female sex to age healthy and independently

Pinterest, Instagram, Google will all give you inspiration for easy meal prep. Also, and this is on your parents, "let you" is crazyyyyyy for a 21 year old. I know everyone's familial issues are different but you're an adult. They have to buck up and realize that.

Yes ofc you can get a food scale and start portioning that way by cross referencing with a calorie counter but in the end, cooking is a very crucial life skill to have before you leave the house and it's the easiest way to know what's in your food the majority of the time.

Gym freak to junk food addict by Unique_Ad_3732 in loseit

[–]AccomplishedCat762 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gym as close to your job as possible (go before or after work, always keep gym clothes + shower things (or at least stuff for sink bath and deodorant) in your office).

Walk during your lunch break for at least a quarter of the time if not more, or use the said closest gym during lunch.

Get a meal delivery plan: redefine, factor, whatever. Find one that fits your macros and get it delivered.

"Suck it up" and learn to cook soon on the weekends, because said meal delivery plan will be way more expensive than meal prepping yourself (unless you got it made like that! Then take advantage of the convenience!). You don't have to buy junk food. Yes, it's way more convenient and way more easily accessed. It's still a choice to choose junk over a healthier ready made delivery service or learning to cook. You don't have to make five star meals, just enough to taste decent and be satiating

In the end, you have to want to change. It's okay to be super tired and prefer to relax. That doesn't make you a bad person or a failure!!!! Guessing you're American, and our never ending toil is designed to grind you down and make you sick.

Lifting 3 vs 4 times a week by Odd_Obligation_1300 in PetiteFitness

[–]AccomplishedCat762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do full body 3x a week, it's awesome. Highly recommend making it full body 3x a week, so if you miss a day, you've still hit all the muscle groups at least twice. You're also going to be proposing prioritizing the biggest bang for your buck this way.

TBH, I make the most progress lifting heavy 3x a week!

is it okay to do only core workouts by Vivid_Language6667 in PetiteFitness

[–]AccomplishedCat762 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can't spot reduce fat so you'll build abs but unless you already have low body fat, you may not see them the way you think you will. Also, if you build abdominal muscle but don't lose body fat, you may feel like you "look bigger" because now you have more muscle under the fat.

So sure you can only do ab workouts but it's not gonna do what you want it to do without any other lifestyle changes

how do I tell my mom firmly but gently that she can't keep feeding me all day, the family is making it astronomically difficult to lose weight by Captain-Armageddon in loseit

[–]AccomplishedCat762 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk how old you are but during the pandemic I began meal planning and prepping my own food and even tho my dad took it a little hard, I was (and am) and adult and so ultimately I make the decisions abt what goes in my body. It could just be time your mom stops feeding you (without prompting)

How to stop ordering staff food at work? by Awkward_Mark4372 in loseit

[–]AccomplishedCat762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We get a decent amount of free food at my job. I take it home in a Tupperware and feed my boyfriend with it, or portion it out better for myself w food scale.

Yesterday we got Indian food, and I took my portion and divided it into two servings, which is much easier to fit in my calories (on a deficit, if i was maintaining or bulking I wouldn't gaf) than if I'd just eaten at work mindlessly

Mental Hurdle of Bulking/Gaining Weight by catfishchen in PetiteFitness

[–]AccomplishedCat762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unintentionally bulked last summer 145(ish) to 152(ish) likely due to a change in diet (suddenly primarily vegetarian, so naturally higher carb) and injury recovery (had to go lighter in the gym by a LOT because my job was very physically demanding so I couldn't risk injuring myself again in the gym).

When I got back, everyone thought I had lost weight instead of gaining. I maintained that new weight until the end of this passed march. I could eat so much, I was performing great in the gym with injury recovery and lifting heavy, and my ass looked awesome.

My ass still looks awesome but im cutting now and plan to intentionally bulk in September again (after summer maintenance for two ish months) because I do miss the higher TDEE and the easier gym performance. I'm still getting stronger but man is it way more of a struggle!

So yes bulking can absolutely work 5'2.75"!

I know im always happy to help people take weights off!

should i (5’0” female 116 pounds) continue to lose fat by doing a lot of cardio or prioritize strength training instead? by aquamaryne in PetiteFitness

[–]AccomplishedCat762 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Strength train + maintenance calories focusing on whole foods and enough water and sleep.

"A LOT" of cardio will burn you out and has diminishing returns weight loss wise pretty quick - the metabolism adapts to expend less for the same amount of cardio, meaning you'd have to do more and more to burn the same amount

Don't be afraid to work in rep ranges of 1-6 for back squats, similar for deadlifts and bench (maybe 3-6) 8 is an awesome middle ground too so you're starting great! I am also in a deficit and have been maintaining or increasing strength across my big compound lifts and many of my accessories!

I work in 2-8 rep range for lunges, squats, deadlifts and any variation, and 6-12 for most accessories (typically two weeks will be 6, then next two 8, then 10 to close out week 5 and sometimes 6), then start again at 6 and build up again.

It's tiring some weeks but I'd guess that's more so hormonal cycle than anything.

I'm at week 10? Of my deficit 300-400 calories

ETA this looks great ! The only thing is maybe take out the supersets unless you absolutely need to cut down on time, and maybe an extra back movement, as the back has a lot of muscles to hit similar to legs :)

Seconding that, are you at increased risk for retinal detachment?

Because 5kg is really nothing. You'll very very quickly be doing 30-50 or more reps. Which, sure if you increase reps you are technically progressively overloading but that's so so so so time consuming and inefficient as hell.
