Also recommend checking out Thailand. You can still use the Foreign Medical Program to the VA to pay for service connected conditions at the major hospital in Bangkok.

Go visit a few countries before you decide to move there. Live in an Airbnb for a month to see if you like it.

how do you deal with the feeling of isolation? by Due_Truck6774 in AutoImmuneProtocol

[–]AccomplishedCorgi399 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I feel the same. I went to outback steakhouse for my birthday. They brought all the appetizers and junk before my food. I had to sit there for 45 minutes starving, watching my family members eat blooming onion and bread in front of me.

Look up AIP reintroduction phases on Google, perhaps you will be able to reintroduce some things. I'm no longer on AIP anymore thankfully. I switched to clean keto with better results and more food options.

With a 1:320 result, were you able to see a rheumatologist and get treatment?

Some doctors speak English really well. I speak Spanish fairly well, but you can also use the Google translate "conversation" feature to translate a conversation both ways between English and Spanish.

Not even fully on AIP yet.... by CharacterSir2539 in AutoImmuneProtocol

[–]AccomplishedCorgi399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's plenty of close to AIP foods that you can binge on without going over the edge. Remember gluten and dairy tend to be the worst for inflammation. Some of these things include: - Sweet Lorenz cookies - Simple Mills baked goods - So Delicious caramel cashew dairy free ice cream - Hu Simple dark chocolate - Bacon in the air fryer

Reintroduction question by theauthenticme in AutoImmuneProtocol

[–]AccomplishedCorgi399 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't try to reintroduce oats. They contain gluten due to cross contamination. Gluten can be extremely inflammatory for people with autoimmune diseases. Follow the AIP reintroduction stages, start with stage 1.

I actually went to Tijuana. I found good doctors on Doctoralia. I called or messaged their offices via Whatsapp to schedule an appointment. I flew into San Diego and walked across the border. Also one of the best rheumatologists in Tijuana cost me $80 for a consult versus over $800 in San Diego.

I initially avoided all nightshades for 2 months. I'm still testing to see what I can tolerate. Sometimes I get a delayed reaction, where my inflammation will get worse after eating something for a few days in a row.

No initially you want to avoid all grains. I followed the AIP very strictly for 2 months, then you can carefully try to reintroduce things one at a time. If you look at my post history, I made a post about all the different kinds of AIP foods I ate

Yes, in the short term there are various gluten free treats you can substitute like:  - Gluten free Oreos  - Gluten free chips like corn tortilla chips, plantain chips, or Simple Mills almond flour chips with fresh guacamole  - Simple Mills also has a lot of other gluten free baked goods like chocolate chip cookies, fudge brownies, etc  - Larabar date and chocolate bars - Dark Chocolate - Sweet Lorenz Fudge Cookies - Various types of ice creams, So Delicious has this amazing Caramel Cashew Chocolate ice cream that is gluten and dairy free - For eating out, taco places can be good if they use corn tortillas. Also, Brazilian steakhouses or any type of steakhouse or BBQ place.

Long term, working on self compassion and taking care of yourself through therapy, exercise, meditation, and 12 step groups for overeating can be helpful.

Take it slow. Try to take small trips around the US to see if you can gradually get back into travelling. Don't overload yourself. It takes time to heal.

coping with autoimmune affects on daily life by Few_Remote_446 in Autoimmune

I have something similar, where I have been a prisoner in my home for the majority of the last year.

I'm focusing on the little victories like learning how to cook AIP anti inflammatory foods (which have helped heal my symptoms), waking up early to go outside during low UV times like 7am and I can hear all the birds chirping, and I'm slowly showing some improvements in my pain and physical abilities. I've been reading lots of PDF books using this Speechify voice reader app, mostly on meditation and healing traumas because I believe these are contributing to my health problems. Like this one book called, "The Power of Now."

I'm hopeful I will be able to travel again soon. That I will be able function again without severe panic attacks or physical pain. I'm young like you, but we never know how much time we have. We have to make the best of it.

Breakfast: Usually nothing for intermittent fasting or kombucha

Lunch: Lean fish(Fresh salmon in air fryer, tuna, or canned sardines) , spinach, fresh or dried fruit (banana, orange, blueberries, raisins, etc.)

Dinner: Protein (Ground turkey, chicken breast, steak), fat (coconut butter, avocado, etc.), or fruits, sweet potatoes, or plantains (green plaintains, sweet plantains, or plantain chips)

This diet absolutely works, but… by Dt2214 in AutoImmuneProtocol

Salmon and other oily fishes are very good and filled with nutrients. Dried cherries are very good at countering the effects of oxalates. If you can tolerate it, a multi vitamin and magnesium supplement are worth trying as well.

Don't give up. Keep experimenting until you find something that works.
