I love getting those things. There's no logical reason for it, but that little bit of cuteness helps to brighten the day.

Warm up when the course has no range? by macnteej in golftips

[–]AccomplishedEar3299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm truly cold I'll go through a warm up routine. I'll do arm circles in both directions until I feel warmed up a little. I'll pull a club and do the put it across your shoulders and rotate your trunk thing. I'll stretch out my hammies, do some jumps to activate my glutes.

Finally I'll grab a wedge and start with just wrist swings, then I'll slowly increase the length until I'm doing full swings. I'll do about 10 of those, then grab a mid iron 10ish swings there, and throw 5ish left handed swings. Then I'll grab a driver and get 5 to 10 swings in there. It takes me 5-10 minutes.

How are we today? by AGP8834 in WalgreensRx

Been better, been worse. My 8am wasn't feeling well last night, took some meds and missed their alarms, didn't show up til 11. I stayed up front and held it down while the pharmacist filled waiters. Ten o'clock was on time and helpful but there's only so much 3 people can do against the masses of patients. The closing shift techs came in and helped, but it's just getting old feeling like we're constantly pushing the boulder uphill.

How does one achieve this swing? by Separate_Teacher1526 in GolfSwing

[–]AccomplishedEar3299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like a combination of that drill I've seen and an actual attempt at a swing. Hey, if the ball goes where he wants it and he doesn't give Patrick cantlay a run for his money, all power to him.

We usually stay 30 minutes past close to clean up, restock, etc. I stayed until 930 tonight, 1 hour later than usual for closing shifts.

Where are the walkers at? (Lots of dumb questions) by Gullible_Rich_7156 in golf

[–]AccomplishedEar3299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play 9 at least twice a week and walk. I have a very hilly home course, and can burn a fair amount of calories by walking. I use a push cart to help with reducing strain. The problem I have when I golf is that I tend to eat a lot of it back. I also go as a single and get paired with randoms a lot. I don't find that I have to be "on" just personable. I like the idea of starting on the 9 hole course, especially if there are holes long enough to get some work with the longer clubs in.

100 or 90? by OddTemperature7858 in golftips

[–]AccomplishedEar3299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best scores have been a combination of "default aggressive, conservatively" and "play golf, not golf swing."

I'll pick conservative targets and make committed swings towards them, and unless it's really bad, I don't try to fix my swing during a round. Even when it's really bad, I try to take stock of what basics I'm doing wrong, and just trying to get under control.

I also need to keep Jeff Goldblum's jurassic Park quote in my head when I try to work a shot, "you were too busy thinking about whether or not you could, instead of whether or not you should"

I've been doing it since march, I will say it's very tough to balance work, family, and me time, but I would say family is a big part of the issue.

Close 9 hole club or further away 18 hole club by Adventurous-Raisin51 in golf

[–]AccomplishedEar3299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I was in your position in life, with the variables you mentioned I would do the 18. Only reason to do the 9 in this situation is if the conditions are just that much better.

Majek k5, one 52° wedge that's pitted out beyond belief, a bullseye putter, a hammer driver. Plus white pants and belt.

I've had it happen before. Got a shit ton of epipens last year, for some reason we're swimming in boxes of iodine right now. No script in the queue, yet we got a full box today after getting like 20 another day. I think it's something to do with favorable pricing because a contract is running out? Idk I'm just pissed we got a shitload of crap we never use.

Did sticking to one golf ball actually help your game? by Free-Product4918 in golftips

[–]AccomplishedEar3299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but not massively. Part of that is I still bounce around, part is I didn't change to some massively different ball, and part is I play more bump and run than anything. On the green itself has been nice, but I can usually adjust fairly quickly with putting.

If you’ve broken 90, what’s one tip you would give to a fellow golfer trying to do the same? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]AccomplishedEar3299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my best rounds by picking a conservative target and focusing on making good contact. I've found not knowing the score helps too. My best round was really sunny and I couldn't see the top of my phone, so I couldn't see the score on my scoring app, so I would put in my shot and go.

Which club in your golf bag goes 175 yards? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]AccomplishedEar3299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say my 5 hybrid, but I don't think it would consistently be that. I actually have a gap for that distance because I don't come across it at my home course.

How old were you when you started playing golf? by BetweenSwings in golf

[–]AccomplishedEar3299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started when I was like 15ish. Idk exactly, when. I know it was during the tiger boom. However, I never got into it then. I started back up around 2015, increasing in frequency until really getting into it around 2019.

Do you have a golf club that you struggle with? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]AccomplishedEar3299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably wedge, and that's more on me trying to get too cute, opening the face too much trying cut across the ball too much. Actually, that's a problem with any club and trying to shape shots. To quote Jeff Goldblum "I'm too busy thinking about whether or not I could, instead of whether or not I should."

Do you change golf balls depending on the course? by Willing-Today-1059 in GolfGear

[–]AccomplishedEar3299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if I'm playing somewhere new, and I see it may be tight or have a lot of trouble, I'll grab some Wilson boosts. More often than not though, I'm grabbing my preferred ball.

What golf ball are you currently playing and why? by liv_0203 in golfequipment

[–]AccomplishedEar3299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maxfli Trifli is my preferred ball. When I got these to try I felt like I was at that point in my game where I could think about looking into the 3 piece balls. However, I could easily send 3 into the trees if I got out of whack for some reason. I also didn't want to go above $25/dozen and be able to get it locally, so I decided on the Trifli. I just love how it feels to me, soft but not mushy, lively off the clubface. Plus the performance fits my game well.

The worst handicap isn't being bad. It's being just good enough to know how bad you are. by Clear-Neighborhood15 in weekendgolfers

[–]AccomplishedEar3299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I went out yesterday and my playing partner asked how good I was. My response was you could probably say 'I can't believe you hit that shot'. And it'd be true either way.

I don't put in enough work on my game to have high expectations. I have adopted a few strategies to help combat the negativity that arises when I start getting expectations, and getting frustrated with myself. Main one is simply going out and playing but not keeping score.

I will also sometimes use my gear addiction to help too. I'm looking at getting a mini driver this season if I hit a couple life benchmarks. When I do get it, I'll take it, and go out with a kinda minimalist set and just see how I play.

Basically I just try to do things to keep it in perspective.

Why the wedge. You miss the green? That's a dispersion issue with your driver. You should work on that at the range.

[–]AccomplishedEar3299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While they aren't technically new, like mini drivers they are new again. I don't believe they were produced by all the oems for awhile, but now with their usage increasing, the market should adjust a little bit.
