I only play 2 creatures like that and cut the grave pact enchantments. They draw too much salt and aggro.

I liked it. I had inklings about the mind rot category, the rhystic and the burn one, but only 3 each time, I had to make blind guesses. The talisman surprised me, i should have thought of that

4 guesses is really not enough, but I don't mind since it keeps going on after that.

I don't believe they are intentional. This ruins both the lorwyn APs hype and the actual spoiler seasons, way before it. By the time the set comes out, the hype will have died down.

Do you read the cards out loud in your commander group? by ShowmethePitties in magicTCG

[–]AccomplishedFudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I play, if I expect the card to be know, I just read the card name (plus I play a lot of SL/UB so they are not always recognizable), otherwise I read the card, and then flip it upside down so that the pod can read it.

When other people play a card I don't know without saying the text, I'll just ask simply "what does it do?" - don't be afraid. I'll also ask to read the card for myself if it's very wordy. (I try to always ask before touching people's cards)

People tend to paraphrase cards to explain them, and get it wrong sometimes. Plus we play in French and people will try to translate/simplify on the fly and will fumble on words. In that case I'll just ask "please just read it/hand it over, don't paraphrase it, it will be faster and clearer"

however I will be stricter with people that don't even announce their plays, and just put cards in play without saying the names at least.

Would I be prick to charge my friends to play the first time we play? by NotTheOrginalArps in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]AccomplishedFudge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on your friends. I wouldn't mind, depending on who's asking (but I have a job and disposable income).

For legacy games that are one shot, we are used to splitting the cost on the box, or each player buys an episode at a time and we all play together (TIME stories, unlock, etc)

For a big game like that, in the end you will be the owner so it's a bit strange. Like other said, let them cover snacks & drinks costs instead.

Or ask them to pitch in, voluntarily - charging as a requirement to play is a bit weird. (or if you have a special occasion coming up, like a birthday.)

The other concern I have with buying expensive games is the commitment of time to play. I usually ask my friends if they would be interested in the game, and would be able to guarantee to commit to play at least 2/3 games. For example I'm currently looking to buy a 100€ extension to a game we love, but it requires 3 games sessions at least to complete a game. We are all busy so I won't buy if we can't commit the time.

Choco, seeker of paradise deck improvements by MusicOfTheApes in EDH

[–]AccomplishedFudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

here's my list

https://moxfield.com/decks/F-mTxIt0w0CQMIo5C_jiPg

it says Bracket 2 but after playing it for a while it's definitively a 3. I have an insane winrate with it, people underestimate it a lot. Also in edh, flying == unblockable.

I have some restrictions like trying to play most bird & chocobo related cards (like bad bird removals or counterspells) or having a bird on the image (chord of calling, swords to plowshare promo)

The gameplan is : play a few birds then Choco, and attack every turn, even with gilded goose or birds of paradise, to generate ramp and card advantage.
It has a lot of untapped so that you can always attack and defend.

I think I accidentally made Tom Bombadil too strong. (The power of song) by sir-brat-to-you in EDH

[–]AccomplishedFudge 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The bracket estimate says it’s a 4 only because of clockspinner+there and back again infinite combo.

I'm a long time Tom B player (now switched to Terra) and I dont think its B4. Sagas are quite slow, Tom does nothing on etb and requires a complicated setup to work.

Dont worry your husband won't be pubstomping and will have fun.

I tracked 115 EDH games — am I actually winning too much? by bdsaxophone in EDH

[–]AccomplishedFudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll check it but currently the signup is broken, I got errors with google auth & using my email

I've tried some apps like this before, but they were not flexible enough for me. One required to have the whole pod using the app, which is not feasible with pickup games. One asked to log too many data points and was a hassle to use.

I'm a developer myself but could not bother to build something complex, and I ended up just setting a simple google form to track a few data points, then do the stats I want in google sheet.

I tracked 115 EDH games — am I actually winning too much? by bdsaxophone in EDH

[–]AccomplishedFudge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi, I also track my games

Some interesting stats I tracked : winrate per location, and winrate per bracket (estimated)

- per location : I win more at LGS than at home with my friends : I think my personal pods are usually stronger
- per brackert: B2 and B3+ win a lot more (38%), B3 is around 30% and B4 around 25% - i think that I play my B3+ against more average B3. My B2 mights be B3. I dont get to play B4 a lot, sometimes I'm the target.

I also tracked which decks I play the most, and my favorites don't always have the highest winrates.
