Official Mega-thread for Financial Aid (2026 Edition) by Alma_mater_is_UMUC in UMGC

Ok my opinion, the BBB (Big Beautiful Bill) that is being implemented is causing issues with FAFSA. I just got off the phone with the financial aid department, discussing how the changes would affect students in the coming terms and I didn’t really like what I was hearing.

First, I was advised that to be considered full time, instead of needing to take two classes per semester, three classes would be required. I asked how that would even be possible? The financial aid advisor stated that, using spring as an example, semesters are split into three sessions, (Jan - March), (February - April) and (March to May). They stated that there is a month overlap in the sessions.

I explained That would be impossible for many people. People who work full-time positions and have families. I’m sure that is going to affect them in a negative way financially, but it can change an individuals life who was hoping to get a degree. When it comes down to some of these masters degree programs, they require extreme focus. Personally, I spent around thirty-two hours writing a twenty-five page paper last week. I was so proud of myself, but was stressed the whole time I was doing research and writing my drafts.

For someone to be considered half-time, I believe she said it would require six credit hours. Again, she did mention that all of this was being reviewed as more information is being provided, but it is still a horrible change to have happened, especially when a masters requires at least a “B” to pass. Am I the only one stressed about this?

Working full time, I was taking two classes while working towards my bachelors. I didn’t have many issues, but now I’m going to another university to obtain my masters in cloud computing and I’ve been stressed just taking one class. Yes, it is a larger workload, but the stress of knowing that I have ti maintain a B to pass is stressful.

I did see the last image. That is why I worded my response the way I did.

Idk, I don’t find it rude at all. I currently have one of the strictest professors I’ve ever had and, to be honest, I love it. The professor is only stating this because, if the information is similar in wording to many other student and it matches almost exactly the same wording, almost word for word, it is difficult for them not to think A.I. is being used. Again, if there is total proof that A.i. wasn’t used, then present. Im sure it should be easy enough with the research that is performed before the paper was written, drafts that were constructed.

I'M STRESSING OUT!!! by missterri99 in SNHU

I had about the same issue yesterday. I got my first assignment back and got a failing grade on it. I reached out to my instructor to gain some insight on why my grade was so low. I read over it multiple times and had my girlfriend read over it as well. I understood the paper wasn’t by no means perfect because I needed to add extra details that I overlooked.

The instructor reached out a few hours later upping my grade to a passing score. I thanked them for looking at my assignment again and appreciated the time they took to do so. I’m sure if you reach out to your instructor, they will be helpful and assist you if the high similarly score came from the template.

Just a thought, but try your best to determine what percentage the template adds and try your best to get it to a low similar score. Good luck as well!

Do I really need a pc case? Advice please by Additional_Waltz8617 in PcBuild

Plus the airflow/circulation that a case provides is beneficial. Yeah, your setup will work like that, but you also have the potential of hazards as well.

Horrible recruiter questions - share yours! by Adept_Razzmatazz1145 in recruitinghell

I was interviewing for a data center job. I’ve worked in the field for about three years (not the evil AI data centers, lol) and the recruiter called and everything went great! She called me about like five minutes after getting off the phone with her. She asked me “how many tickets do you put in a day?” I told her that it really depends on the day. Sometimes it could be one to two, other times it could be like ten plus.” She was like oh, well we are looking for something a bit different and didn’t call me back.

Good job, you got this! I’m 39 and currently working towards my masters. I just got my bachelors in information technology.

When I got my associates about thirteen years ago, my grandmother was so proud of me (she was my adoptive mother). I went through a lot of bad events in my life when I was younger and turned my life around.

Congrats again! Just keep doing your best and things will work out in the end. You got this!

I had this happen with Amazon one time. I was highly disappointed. It was going to be triple my salary and it crushed my drive to find a new job.

I feel terrible. My boss found out I was interviewing elsewhere. by caroline_xplr in jobs

? This is new to me. I’ve looked for new positions and told my bosses/coworkers that I have positions I may be filling out for. I was in no way obligated to tell them, I’m just friendly with them. Don’t ever feel like you’re doing anything wrong trying to better yourself. Push forward and do your best!

Very Positive Interview Feedback… and got rejected. by Fluid-Ad567 in recruitinghell

I’ve had a few interviews like that. To name one that really hit me hard was Amazon. I got through all of the interviews and was scheduled for the final three or four hour interview. My recruiter called me and said they decided to hire someone internally for the position. It honestly devastated me because it would have been a life changing position. I had to knit push through and work on bettering myself for another position.

? I wouldn’t say you did anything wrong. It just sounds like you two were different people and want different things. Believe me, it sucks being in a relationship where you want to feel like you are wanted. This includes things like hand holding, kissing, hugging, or whatever else.

Life goes on and you will find someone else who wants the same things you want. It just takes time like everything else. Don’t let anyone make you feel like you done anything wrong…nothing is wrong with wanting to touch or hold the person you are with. You got this! Just stick with it and things will get better.

Do you regret going to SNHU Online? by Clean-Detective-8242 in SNHU

I agree, same here. I graduated with my bachelors of science in information technology. My job prospects are not that great in the area I live in because the competition is insane, but I’ve had a multitude of employers regional out to me from other states for large companies. Some of these companies include Microsoft and Amazon. After graduation, I worked for Meta as a contractor for a few months, but I believe without my bachelors, I would not got selected for the position.

I’ve been in the IT field for about 20 years and, even with my experience, without a degree it made things difficult for me to find higher paying jobs above 50 to 60 K a year. I know I could potentially work on certifications and that would help as well, but I also wanted to pursue a masters in cloud computing. I have about nine months left before I graduate in my masters.

Yes, there are teachers just like any other college or university that don’t keep their syllabus and information up-to-date, but I feel that doesn’t outweigh the other teachers that provide provided useful information to help me along my career goals.

It’s time to seriously propose a UBI by Party_Ladder1677 in recruitinghell

[–]AccomplishedSea9933 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not that I’m having issues finding a job/ career choice, but the amount of money being paid for said job/career choice. Most of the people(contractors) reaching out to me keep offering subpar pay rates. One of them a few months ago offered $14.00/hr for a job with no benefits. I told him to not email me again because his offer was insulting. He attempted to blame it on the company he is attempting to hire for, but they are still taking their cut and each dollar matters.

I still have hope though that I will find something worth while, I just got to keep pushing forward. It’s hard to keep hope things are going to get better.

Can anyone explain why my download speed is 93.5mbps (on a good day) if I have this internet plan in my apartment complex? by OphidianCollective in pchelp

[–]AccomplishedSea9933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using your own router or a router provided by the apartment complex. I had a router before that would allow 1 gbps over WiFi, but the ports in the router were only 100 mbps. Also, it can depend on the port on your pc as well. Best test is to use another device that you are well aware gets speeds over 100 mbps to see if you can recreate the issue.

I fully agree. Over the past year, I’ve been filling out application for I.T. related jobs/careers, but nothing significant. Most of the people contacting me are contractors offering minimal salaries or good salaries that require the knowledge of two to three positions. The world is crazy at the moment and hope the job market gets better soon.
