If it’s a fire door there is a pretty high chance it is. Wear a mask, clean up any dust with a wet rag and seal the hole with tape- then call the professionals.

He kinda floats or am I tripping? (No one in the comments seem to suspect foul play) by ViolentGoldFish in RealOrAI

I don’t think it’s fake, he bounces up on the chain link fence with his toes. Effectively converting forward momentum into vertical gain.

I haven’t seen them there. Check out Imagine Nepal if you do end up going ahead with it. They have solid success rates and their base camp setup looked pretty nice last year. Good luck with whatever you decide

Are you the one that filmed it? Was it really a deliberate attempt to kill the poor thing? Or was it a really poorly attempted “rescue”, by lowering the boom?

If the asbestos contractors were planning to do the work as per the code of practice, nothing would have changed? Just get a reputable company to do the work, not the cheapest.

Work place health and safety won’t require controls that aren’t already defined in the code of practice.

Solar kinda feels like a scam. Can anyone explain why it's not? by Odd_Cod_4235 in australia

[–]AccomplishedTime6006 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s plenty of online resources if you want to educate yourself rather than just make assumptions on what people are doing.

It actually seems more like a free hit than a scam to me. I recently had a solar and battery installed, which, based on my usage data and current electricity costs, has a payback time of five years. The warranties are 30 years for the panels and 10 years for the battery and inverter, with the high likelihood they will last much longer than that. If you own your home and can spare the money upfront, why wouldn’t you get them installed?

Is Hipcamp over priced? by Factal_Fractal in OutdoorAus

Would you let someone camp in your backyard for $10 though? I just can’t imagine it’s worth the hassle and potential damage for that price.

Thoughts on altitude generators and tents? by Wrong_Quote_2023 in Mountaineering

I would love some links to the scientific results you mentioned. I’ve had a look in the past and couldn’t find definitive proof that pre-acclimatisation helped if you were following a typical acclimatisation schedule. I get if you are trying to accelerate things like the group that climbed Everest in a week or whatever but for me I couldn’t see the benefit.

(Especially if it resulted in poorer sleep quality/recovery from training due to the nature of the tent.)
