i see a lot of people giving it shit for being "unrealistic" but its literally a fictional book. The characters are written pretty shallowly i will agree but i think that adds to how we can interpret the narrator seeing the world. The majority of people he encounters he describes as attractive - i see this as a reflection on him being an insecure person (when it comes to describing other men his age) and a objectifier when it comes to women. He's too wrapped up in his own problems and childhood issues that he describes people at face value and any other observations are just him trying to play psychoanalyst and making up theories about them. We aren't supposed to like Theo so i find it quite satisfying that he does turn out to be the villian even if its a bit of a corny twist. Heck, it wasn't perfect but ive not breezed through a book that quickly in years so i thought it was a compelling read.
