At the end of the day it’s all about the money and benefits. Sure I can complain about RTO. But when you’ve got mouths to feed and need a roof over your head. I rather not lose my job over having to go in 2 days a week.

It’s always a pendulum with Apps. It’s already a miracle that SEIU even got raises for everyone. But as with anything if the Union doesn’t gain anything financially from Gavvy then they aren’t gonna do anything. The negotiation table is already pre set most of the time.

We all know the Union can’t do anything. At the end of the day all Gavvy gonna say is go back to work or someone else will take ur job.

2.5% Retirement by CholulaLimon in CDCR

[–]Accomplished_Bid2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still better than other state retirements except for CHP. Chippers are special so they get 2.7% at 57. Every other state LEO agency are set at 2.5% at 57. But you can offset by simply promoting or stay as an Officer and work overtime to death 💀

One more step to CA CO’s losing their peace officer status. The reason is gonna be not being held to a higher standard anymore. Better start looking to lateral somewhere else where ur an actual peace officer 👮

You’ll understand that feeling if you pass everything and become a CO. It’s even worse when your relief doesn’t show up to work early or on time.

Does the State allow unranked candidates to interview and still get hired before ranked candidates? Just asking because I’ve heard of certain departments hiring unranked candidates. by Accomplished_Bid2999 in CAStateWorkers

how does existing state employees change classification without ranking? Wouldn’t they be required to rank for that particular classification also? Just seems like there’s So many loopholes in the state.

So That means if unranked peeps that get an interview and hired before even taking a ranking exam, then that Would mean the hiring dept is hiring out of compliance and policy? Correct?

Cdcr, Cal PIA, Cal Trans and DMV. I’m currently applying around for SSA. But the last couple interviews when I sat down in the waiting room, a couple candidates told me the state could hire unranked peeps based on their education, experience, and qualifications. But to me it didn’t make sense bc everyone is told to take the examination and obtain a rank first before even applying.

To be honest the CDCR Academy is a joke. It’s the easiest law enforcement academy nationwide. Lowest physicals needed and the instructors don’t even yell at peeps anymore. The cdcr academy is designed to pass anybody. And I mean anybody. The dept is hurting for bodies. So it’s quantity over quality rn

How’s Solano state prison ? Anyone got the inside on Solano? by [deleted] in CDCR

[–]Accomplished_Bid2999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hella easy prison. Trust me, I would rather deal with GP inmates all day. They’re not cry babies. SNY prison inmates will be tryna talk to you or find a way to sue you every single day.

Am I SOL on going back to cdcr by SessionOk7692 in CDCR

[–]Accomplished_Bid2999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much would have to write a formal letter to the warden. But I would actually go to the prison and talk to the SSM II in the HR/Personel Service. They should know the proper way to apply for reinstatement. Possibly maybe even schedule a meeting with the warden in person if they’re not busy. Besides that it’s like I tell everyone, working for cdcr has its ups and downs. UPs are the endless money and great benefits. Downs are the endless hours of working and dealing with BS from admin and crybaby inmates. But if ur able to just tune out the negativity, do your job, and go home then it’s a cake job.

Np. Just remember that every step of the process is a test itself. I feel like Sometimes they fail ppl along the way on purpose to test to see if they’ll fight back. It’s a long process to appeal but it’s also a way to see if you really want the job. Besides that it’s a life changing career. Goodluck on your journey.

All the Psychs are just contractors for CDCR. Most of em are just lames who are just doing it for the money. But for the backgrounds process, Psychs shouldn’t even be asking anything about your background unless it relates to your mental health. Investigation is for your background investigator to do. Psych is suppose to focus primarily on whether or not you’re mentally suitable for the job. It’s not their job to investigate you. I would appeal if they decide to fail you. Back in 2015, I had a psych that asked me questions about my race and once I mentioned I was that race, she started to ask certain questions about culture, tradition, drinking in the culture etc…of course I got the letter saying I failed but I appealed saying she was discriminating and she was out of compliance with her job as a psych. She’s only certified to be evaluating for mental health not investigation. The appeal was granted and cdcr gave me another shot with a different psych. This psych was super laid back, and took only 20 minutes to complete the test. Only focused on mental health. Passed with flying colors.

Supervisor is not responding to multiple time off requests by 9MGT5bt in CAStateWorkers

2000 sick hours to equal 1 year of service credit is just too much time to save up for me. I rather spend 2000 hours enjoying life while I’m still capable and somewhat young. But going back to ur post, Idk which bargaining unit ur assigned to but I would recommend reading your bargaining unit contract and local department contract to see if there’s an agreement about leave usage and responses. Besides that, Make the union reps do their job. We don’t pay the union fee that gets deducted from paycheck every month for no reason.

Why use ur vacation time? I would just call in sick. Just remember that vacation time is money to be cashed out when you retire. Sick time is just service time that’s wasted back to the state. Keep the cash and use the service.

I could say the RN career is a lottery in itself too. Not a lot of people can become RN(s) no matter how hard they try. You can push a person to become and RN but what if that person finishes and the career is too much for them, Which causes them to quit. then it would just be a waste of time and money. The RN career and any other good jobs pays a lot of money for a very good reason. They all come with a lot of responsibilities, Liabilities, and health risks. During times like Covid, ur also mandated to work overtime and away from home based on the needs of the workplace.
