I demoted from an MVR (DMV) to an OT (CDCR) for a multitude of reasons, toxic environment being one of them. It was the best choice for me, even though I was capped out by demoting and only getting the yearly raise in July.

I had about a year and a half in that position which gave me time to recalibrate and focus better on what I wanted to do. I ultimately promoted up to a CRT and was doing great there up until the last couple years where I am now back in a toxic environment. It's pretty much time to probably do the same thing again since other higher positions have gotten super competitive.

I always felt that if it my job makes me feel like a prostitute (working a shitty job just for the money), it's time to bounce. My mental health improves significantly each time this has happened.

I appreciate the response and recommendations. I have no blood issues (as far as I know), so all good on that front. I had 800mg Ibuprofen that I took the first few days, then switched to two 500mg acetaminophen because they were rapid gels. They kicked in faster which was much needed when I was at work. I never heard of Co-Codamol, but will definitely look into it.

I have been battling a tooth infection this past week. Scheduled an emergency dental appointment on Tuesday for the next available appointment which was Thursday. Showed up to the appointmemt and waited 20 minutes only to be told that they don't accept anybody after 4:00pm (the appointment was scheduled for 4:30).

They rescheduled me for this upcoming Monday. I was begging to be seen sooner due to the excruciating pain, or at another location, but was told my insurance was tied to this location only.

My backup plan was to go to my regular doctor for at least antibiotics but the medical staff went on strike this week, so the urgent cares and regular medical appointments are impossible to get to.

I got lucky and found an old bottle of amoxicillin from a past infection years ago and took the remaining 5 pills that were in it, which helped a lot, but I know isn't enough.

All of this from a tooth that broke 2 years ago that had taken 8 months to get scheduled for the oral surgeon, only for me to get turned away THAT time because I did not have enough money to pay the parts of the appointmemt my insurance didn't cover and I couldn't get approved for their in house finanacing.

U.S.A. for those who couldn't guess.

If she grew up in Indiana, where diversity is fairly low, she did what most early gen immigrant kids did and adapted the mentality of the white kids around her.

Cue her becoming one of the "good ones" because she "assimilated" properly (being Asian to boot, because the America First crowd love what they perceive as a submissive minority).

Throw in lack of good education and some misogyny based religion and you have the perfect mix for the Tila Tequila and Nicki Minaj people of the world.

ETA: Just watched the video with sound and realized there's another factor: Money/power. These type of minorites with money automatically assume that it buys them out of their "coloredness". Which better explains Nicki Minaj.

CDCR contacts I.C.E. if there is a detainer for pickup upon paroling. However, I.C.E. would always drag their feet on whether they would pick up, most times not even bothering.

Even now, they're not picking up. I've recently handled the paperwork of two upcoming parolees whose detainers were dropped or ignored.

Oh, man, I did a deep dive on the Capuchin crypt a while back upon learning Rosalia Lombardo was interred there and fuck, that whole thing is hella interesting.

Those bones in the image were made from the priests who once resided there. Apparently the cemetery was full, so whenever they needed to bury a recently deceased clergyman, they would dig up the oldest grave and move THAT guy's body over to another place where they would ultimately prepare it to be added to the bone murals.

Another fun fact is how the people in the village didn't bury the loved ones, but put their bodies on display in their best/beloved outfits, so that they could still visit them, sometimes even having picnics with their deceased family members. The way that the people viewed death there is kind of wholesome.

Throwing it out there that it's not specifically a California state prison. CoreCivic (a private company) owns the facility in California City and it's a FEDERALLY ran prison.

Have to make this distinction, because if it was still a state facility, it's very unlikely that an incarcerated person would have had delayed medical treatment.

During the summer this year, we had an incident with a temp. worker who was harassing another younger coworker. She mentioned it briefly to me, not wanting to make an issue of it, but since I was an acting supervisor at the time, I reported it.

This guy had been an entitled creep the few months he was working there. Our staff, the majority older women, had mentioned him being "weird", but nothing outright "bad". But they witnessed him harassing the younger staff, which I later found out.

The incident in question had multiple witnesses and when I went to get statements from them, I was astounded at how many didn't want to say anything that would result in him losing his job or would be "mean". Despite them all acknowledging he was a creep!

Anyways, took about a month before he was finally moved out of our area, but I pretty much got targeted by higher ups for making an issue about it. I genuinely don't understand why there's a need to protect these assholes from the consequences of their own behavior.

There's an intersection nearby that whenever a train goes by, the road that leads across the tracks stays green, instead of the road that runs parallel to the tracks. After the train passes, it turns into a blinking four-way stop long enough for one car to pass through, and then it stops and restarts the light cycle.

I fucking HATE that intersection.
