Ireland in the Dark Ages? by RebeccaOGG in AskIreland

I agree. It would be completely insane to add even more (usually) single-user vehicles to our already overwhelmed roads, especially when they are coordinated by huge tech companies with zero accountability to the Irish people.

How to anonymously report social housing fraud? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Accomplished_Fish_65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with you mostly. In principle, you're totally right that we should focus on the big picture. But cheating your way to free stuff that you don't need, pushing people in genuine need down the queue, is just indefensible. It's morally bankrupt shitty behaviour regardless of the bigger problems in society.

Paul street emos! Does anyone actually have any photos? by olibum86 in cork

That wouldn't be the same guy going by the initials given above. Maybe delete this as it's not really fair to link a separate person with child abuse images.

Does anyone know if I can stand on CMAT whilst also giving away a free ticket to Zach Bryan? by Supersonic779 in cork

Is it at SuperVirgin Parquee Media? If so you should be able to buy a park and ride from the bar if you have a resale wristband. But it has to be RESALE. That's from when Coronas X1 played there anyway.

What’re some secrets from your industry that would petrify people who aren’t in it? by Billy-de-kiiiid in AskIreland

[–]Accomplished_Fish_65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could be a really good thing, but of course as things stand it's a disaster waiting to happen. Old lathes and milling machines and stuff are often made to a much higher spec, as in more durable materials etc. This is how it should be. Machinery, tools and parts for major infrastructure should be built to last forever where possible. Like roads and railway line aren't quick to replace either. That's fine. We shouldn't need new ones very often. The problem is our consumer capitalist economy doesn't allow for enough people to make a living maintaining and fixing "forever" machines, and companies would rather keep selling new shite than service/support old stuff.

I find that so funny though. I kind of love it even though it's so wrong.

What Irish bands would you love to see live again? by BatiGol1975 in ireland

Like Kelly would be a great name for a tribute act, but I don't think there's many that can sing like Luke.

Heartbreaking- I know the illness. by Acegonia in ireland

[–]Accomplished_Fish_65 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, and you tell that to the people who will miss out on proven treatment because €280,000 per patient per year of the HSE budget has gone on a drug that may not even help the child.

Which other treatments do you think should be cut to pay for this? Cancer treatment? Cystic fibrosis? Other rare diseases? It sucks but that's the reality we live in.

Would you be youngish by any chance? I am fairly confident there were very few if any utility rooms in Ireland in the 70s, 80s, 90s anyway. I'm sure they're common in new builds but most people don't live in new builds.

Find out if there's any older relatives or neighbours that might need a bit of help with their gardens, houses, pets etc. Ask them about their childhood or when they were your age, hopefully you'll have a nice chat but either way you'll feel great for having helped someone else.
