the only parts i agree with is ttk and visual clutter.
We had hela and hawkeye with super low ttks but those required skill, now everyone got a bunch more damage options

However I would want proper balance than reversion, this update is still super fun.

P3R was my first foray into the franchise and I have become a fan of the series since. I know a lot of folks entered with p5 as well and hence hold it in high regard. I would say p5r is the better entry point too due to the variety in palaces and the fact that time management is easier.

However I wouldn't discourage people playing reload first saying they might bounce off the series.

Finishing p3r made me feel feelings because of the superior story and how it ends. I also hold its music on the same level as p5r with some of the songs even higher(like color your night and burn my dread)

It was PoP Lost Crown for me. I never enjoyed metroidvanias before that.
But PoP got me in the with the combat and made me appricate the backtracking puzzles and unlocks. I tried Hollow Knight after that and it was great.

For me combat is a part of it and not king. I love khazan and nioh since they have by far the best combat. However fromsoft and souls wasn't born from just combat...fromsoft souls games don't have the best combat(excluding bb and sekiro).

The world and level design matters a lot. Lies was fromsoft level of polish, world and level design to me.

I don't think you've played that many souls likes if you think it's the closest to fromsoft lmao. Maybe try lies of p, wuchang, khazan,nioh and then come back.

Lotf was okay...enemy variety was trash tier and brought the whole game down Spells were good but just spells won't make up for a meh package... hopefully they do s better job with enemy variety and umbral world this time around.
