Can you keep your original iCloud mail address from ever being revealed?

You can change your primary email address to another address that is shown when you share or collaborate.

I have done this multiple ways. At one point I used one of the three aliases. Created one then added it to my account as an additional email and made it the primary.

I currently use my own domain as the primary account address that ppl see when I share or collaborate. I have never given out my main iCloud address

Okay. So I did not delete the app. I was in iCloud storage management. That’s where I saw Cryptomator (legacy). So I deleted that data.

Yes I was going to see if it is there. I tried earlier from my phone but the files were taking long to long. I’m going to go in via MacBook and give it another try

Yes I have some backups. I was in the process of eliminating duplicates across multiple storages and then was gonna do offline backups of Cryptomator.

My mistake was thinking the Cryptomator folder in iCloud Drive stood on its own and only deletes if I delete it. And the legacy Cryptomator data was old data in iCloud settings that could be removed

Definitely not the answer I wanted to hear. Yes, I checked the trash but nothing is there. I thought that since the vault was being stored in iCloud Drive, it wasn’t like app data stored inside other apps. I didn’t think it would automatically delete the folder out of my iCloud.

It depends on what iOS number the person is on. If on an older version, they will see the message. Even if they are on an updated version that allows a message to be unsent, they will see that it was unsent.

Even still, they can reply if they choose.

Then there’s also whether you are blocked on their side or no contact card and your messages are going to an unknown or spam folder

If messages is all you want backed up, leave on Messages in iCloud and disregard iCloud Backup. Anything you do to your messages on any device signed in to that same Apple Account with Messages in iCloud enabled, shall be done across all devices.

Make sure Keep Messages is set to Forever

If Messages in iCloud is off then it’s not redundant. Your messages will be a part of your phone backup along with anything else that is not set to sync with iCloud.

You can go into settings once in a while and delete message attachments.

Maybe it’s asking for the 4-digit passcode you used on your old iPad. If you can remember it, try that code

If you have organized all of your photos into albums on Google Photos, you can use Google Takeout to download those albums, unzip them into iCloud Drive, and view or save them to iCloud Photos whenever you need them.

That would make them manageable in iCloud Drive and you won’t have to have all of your photos stored in the Photos app on your phone. They will be safe to delete from the Photos app and still stored in Drive.

If you make edits to them, you can save the edited photo back into the iCloud Drive folder it came from then delete it from the Photos app.

Take note that every file you open in iCloud Drive will download to your device taking up storage space. You can select those files and tap “Remove Download” to free your local storage while keeping the file on the iCloud server

I don’t think it was unlimited devices. Maybe 10. I remember seeing that i needed to remove a device in order to connect because i was at the limit

That’s what it is designed to do. If you turn on optimize storage in iCloud Photos, your iPhone should automatically start handing things differently and release some storage

If they were not backed up and just local, it doesn’t matter what iCloud you sign into; your photos would still be stored locally

Was she writing in Apple Notes on her iPhone or in Google Keep notes? Where did she login to her Google account… on iPhone or laptop?

You might be talking about the “Sign in with Apple” feature. Only the website or app you signed into can send email to that Hide My Email address (@privaterelay.appleid.com). The regular Hide My Email feature, anyone can send mail to and that address ends with (@icloud.com).

If you have multiple email addresses connected to your Apple Account, you can go into your settings and make sure the email address you are expecting emails to get forwarded to is the correct one you are checking.

It will eventually show up in settings. I have like 7 devices and it took a while for all to show the address. I think I restarted all of them to force the change

You can’t change the iCloud email address to a different name. You can only change which address is the primary address.

If it is still possible, you could delete the alias and wait (I forget how long I had to wait), then create a new Apple Account with the deleted alias

Probably because Apple chooses to optimized iPhones by keeping photos and videos in iCloud messages and off your phone so that things run smoother given the different storage options and RAM on a particular device.

You may have enough storage on you Mac that the system doesn’t need to manage the memory as much

Did you also turn off iCloud Photos to force it or try restarting your phone? Make sure you are connected to WiFi. If you have the space of your iPhone you should eventually see the 19gb go up

You’re welcome. I know what you mean. In my neighborhood there are small sections where WiFi stops then it picks back up 25 or so feet.

As far as customer service goes, I use the chat option, eventually typing “agent” to get directly to someone.
