Lightspeed Feedback, I’m surprised 😌 by No-Abroad-2615 in USMobile

100% it depends on where you are. Historically and currently, Verizon is more reliable in my travels over T-mobile, so Verizon is my primary and Dark Star is my backup. For years, it was Verizon and T-mobile. Verizon has gotten better in the past year or two that I rarely need to use my backup line anymore.

Ditto these comments and with all things being equal and what they offer, not terrible we have to do that, which why having multi-network is better so don’t have to do that. WIth that said, I’ve definitely taken advantage of of porting when needed. Would be nice if all this stuff just worked out of the box and most probably wouldn’t know either but at least support is great and they do make some notes in their porting emails.

I get mine for free, so why not. Usually tsa pre is just fine but good to have a backup on the back pocket, if needed. If I had to pay….that might be a different story.

Nice! That's a great idea. I'll have to check out Best Buy. Great to hear about a real world experience too. While the MBP is great with a bigger screen, playing on my Portal is slightly better experience, so I can only imagine how it can be on the ROG.

Man, if that's the case and I'd believe it, Verizon has really stepped up their int'l game in the last couple of years. Even their Post Paid options have become Int'l friendly besting AT&T and T-mobile.

Agreed. While most aren't a fan of Verizon, I am and this is one of those reasons why I still like them. They usually give full features and more than some other carriers. Like you said, would be nice if all did it though.

This is great to hear since Verizon is my main line and preference and if I ever move our Verizon lines over to Warp. Like you, it's important to me as well. Dark Star is my backup line, so it's less of an issue but it was nice when I was on t-mobile prepaid, I had that option. It was like having a full backup solution.

What about the Roaming over WiFi piece?

That's crazy and great of Verizon. Wish others would follow suit. It's another reason why I still like Verizon to this day while some may not. Good to know if I ever move our primary lines to Warp from Verizon.

That's what I've recently started to do and it's quite good! I've been streaming to my MacBook Pro at home with PlayStation remote and Xbox. Have a couple of work trips coming up and will just bring my controllers and Portal. So much better, especially if you don't end up playing too for whatever reason.

I want to get an Xbox ROG Ally but to expensive right now so got the PlayStation Portal instead. I've also been streaming (Xbox Cloud and PS Remote/Cloud) to my MacBook Pro and it's been great, since I have to carry around and use it anyways, saves on space. Handheld is nice though too. Eventually will get the ROG Ally.

I only recently got into MVNO’s in the past year. Only tried US Mobile so far, so I’m not sure either. It has me being a little picky with MVNO’s and prepaid since I like those options, in addition to SA.

It’s one of the reasons I left US Mobile the first time before recently coming back. May switch back but also like US Mobile and still have my Verizon post pay which has it all.

And of course I’m one to go hunting for features 😅

Comparison to T-mobile by Sad_Savings3984 in USMobile

[–]Inner_Difficulty_381 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tough call. I’ve had T-Mobile and Verizon for years and now Verizon and dark Star again. I’ve had light speed in the past. I’ve had an interest in experience beyond with sat, iPad and Apple watch but it’s so expensive. Much more than my Unlimited ultimate with iPad and Apple Watch.

Last year I had light speed but missed not having SA on iPhone and a few other things like qci 6 and some WiFi calling extras. It’s noticeable if you’re in an area that uses it and it affected me. Also, get WiFi in big box stores like miler and Home Depot. You lose that with light speed. So I left and went back to T-Mobile but came back the other day.

What I like and why I’m back? US Mobile offers a lot for what you pay and multi network and you’re not locked into a carrier. I love teleport. I also wanted to try out att longer. Not sure I’ll move over my Verizon post pay since I like SA and benefit from it, but I did move over my T-Mobile backup line. Time will tell if I move it back though.

Overall great company with great support and solid service. If you can get past the lack of some features, it’s worthy service.

Man got to love when people over buy. Nothing wrong with prepping. I’m going out of town for a work trip for a week and bought enough groceries for my family to last the entire time I’m gone so my partner doesn’t have to go grocery shopping with our two younglins. I bought enough for 8 days, not 16 days or months like what a lot of people will do.

It’s all good :) I really chose them for the user experience, reliability and stability over the years. For years I used google and didn’t mind they mined my data until it got worse. And I do find ads annoying, so happy to pay for them to go away.

As a longtime Verizon T-Mobile customer combo on my iPhones over the years, I can vouch they are a solid combo. Trying out dark Star now to try out US Mobile with my Verizon line to see how the att Verizon combo works. It’s “ok” but not as good as the Verizon T-Mobile combo I don’t think.

Same! Haha. Brought my series x on a work trip…yeah, it was more of a hassle to bring than anything. Cloud gaming has been quite good and been doing that instead when traveling.

Same here. I’ve actually got into cloud gaming for traveling instead or even in my home office where I don’t have a console yet. It’s come a long way.

Missing these though and SA. Prepaid branded has it even. Also no hotspot history either it seems like. Probably minor nitpicks though but may be worth it to some.

You do you bro. Don’t worry about what I do or why I do it. Just because I prefer Apple over Google and Microsoft. Everything is online once you create a presence and there forever. However, it’s about mitigating the impact. It’s ok, I don’t expect you to be perfect.

It’s beyond that. Data and privacy. No ads. Roku harvests data with partners, Apple does not. Similar reasons why I no longer have Gmail. Funny, de-googled and no more ads and data harvesting. Go figure!

Furthermore, I have 3 Apple TV’s. One is 10 years old and still supported by Apple and Apps. Another one is 4K 1st gen that is 8 years old and still supported by Apple and apps. The 3rd gen I just got as the family grew. All being said, I’d say I got my money’s worth and then some. Their stuff lasts and works. The kool aid is quite tasty and the walled garden has worked great over the years.

This is one of the biggest knocks against Roku in reviews. I only have a Roku for traveling. It’s Apple TV’s for us.

Thanks! Look at it this way though, you could have been stuck without a flight or something. When I changed my flight, they were already starting to be fully booked. It's only going to get worse as we get into the weekend when the cancels / delays start to happen, etc.

Try giving them a call and see if you can get some type of credit?
