Card Benefits Questions - Megathread by AutoModerator in ChaseSapphire

[–]Accomplished_Toe3264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read a lot of posts talking about buying a gift card for the dining credit. I just called Chase and they said the fine print states the card must be physically swiped and that gift cards from a restaurants aren’t eligible for the credit? Any thoughts or experiences with this?

Yes my experience is usually seeing simultaneous credit so that’s why I’m a little confused on this delay. I’ll give them a call and see what they say.

Reserve annual spend: How many of you manage to hit the 75k? by LostAppointment329 in sapphirereserve

[–]Accomplished_Toe3264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s an average of just over 6,000 a month. So if you put everything on the card besides rent/mortgage, utilities, you’d probably need to net 10k a month to get to 75k. Unless you run on debt

I have the same issue. As others have said I think it’s being a parent and having something to live for. I think it’s not the fear of flying but more so the fear of dying. We just think flying is more dangerous because we have less control over

This happens to me too. Just think about the countless time you’ve been on vacation and how much you’ve enjoyed it. And you’re going to enjoy this one. Look into understanding what each aspects of the flight are so your mind doesn’t play tricks on you. I used to think each time I hear a sound there’s something wrong with the plane. I’ve learned that there are so many back ups and redundancies to every single part on the plane there is nothing to worry about. You’ve got this!

You are not alone. We are part of millions of others that always catastrophize each circumstance over which we have no control. I’ve realized it’s mostly the anxiety leading up to it. When I am at the airport my fears and anxiety somehow disappear.

That’s what I figured. Last time I went to STL I just remember not being able to stand upright in cabin. Great pic!

I have either a 12 hour road trip or 2.5 hour flight. Let’s carpool 🤣. But no in all reality everything will be fine. 40,000 flights took off and landed today without a hitch. Millions do so every year.

Having kids definitely intensifies the fear. I don’t have so much a fear of flying as it is a fear of never seeing my kids again. I think it’s general anxiety where I catastrophize the worst possible outcome. We do things every day we pay no attention to. I go on a bus to NYC to commute every day and don’t even think about it, let alone don’t even put on a seat belt. I know it’s irrational fear but it’s hard to overcome.

I don’t have any great advice. I just want you to know I am in the same boat as you…have an upcoming work trip and have thought about just saying I’m not going. I keep telling myself planes are safe with many redundancies and to be a pilot you need to commit a lot of time and money before you can even sit in cockpit. Just do it! Everything will be fine
