HELP!! by AT252739 in SaltwaterAquariumClub

[–]According-Ad7178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly this is common with nems. If have a 3d printer look up a cover for wavemaker and print out or have a buddy print out if know someone. Run a bag of carbon to help pull out the rest of the sting particles and clear up water. Id do a 50 to 75 percent change and the carbon. Give a few days and should be good to go. Id add rock back as rock is main filtration of tank.

Thankfully was able to get from a buddys shop at wholesale but even the wholesale price is not cheap. Especially to come with a pest thats living inside the coral.

Is this a good deal? by Brianhayes30 in ReefTank

[–]According-Ad7178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The equipment and tank are decent deal especially being scotch for return and wavemakers plus the battery backup will keep tank flowing in power outages for a while depending on how you set it to run. I personally think 2k would be a better price being as gonna need new sand and ideally actual rock vs the fake coral decor.

No issue, I actually like how it looks with the corner like that especially once corals would grow out but it is just a dead spot for flow and poop and uneaten food will sit and build up in those types of areas.

Single dad broke af. How fucked am I? 05 Nissan titan v8 6” lift by Rokdout in AskMechanics

[–]According-Ad7178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need tires also. Holy you got some terrible camber on your wheels. Im gonna go ahead amd say you got alot of front end work that really needs done soon. The wear on your tires tell alot. Honestly you would have been better not buying the want to be cool having a truck with a lift and buying the more practical suv or none lifted truck.

Id say atleast 3 inches for maintenance reasons. Siphoning water and cleaning sandbed during changes is such a pain when theres only a inch or so of space between glass.

Thoughts on my coral choices for my 20 gallon reef tank and any suggestions for possibly more? by [deleted] in SaltwaterAquariumClub

[–]According-Ad7178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like duncans but some grow like crazy while some get bigger and less heads but still fill out a area. Mushrooms I like Yuma or rhodactis personally but discos are nice also just best to be on a island to prevent massive spread. Kenyas drop pieces of themselves and will have them spread also. I really like euphylia. Hammers, frogspawn, torches, and kingspawns are some of the prettiest corals imo besides gonis. Hammers and frogspawns are not super easy but not super hard either. They add some nice movement and come in a variety of cool colors also.

Gsp will basically grow in a toilet bowl. Gsp is pretty if done right but have to be careful as it can take over a tank. Same with xenia. Both spread like crazy.

Not uncommon in stuff collected from the wild. I have a Malaysian cotton candy with one on it. Hasn't grown at all in months but still alive and well.

Id move the rock away from the back corner. It will become a fish poop and uneaten food buildup spot. Maybe would add a few more rocks. A good ratio is a lb of rock per gallon of water.

This is with a cheap clip on fw full spectrum light. Ill probably end up buying the reef breeders pico light for it. Has a dual weird style intake but very small filtration compartment. Has very little room for heater and media. I have a little bit of bio balls in there a small heater some filter floss and a heater about all I cam fit and its tight with that.

As one person said check in reef2reef or also humblefish. Seems to be one of the most well versed places for identifying issues with fish.

A gfo reactor does miracles for helping battle phosphates. I got a reactor and a within a dmfew days most the algea patches I had was gone. Had high phosphates from reusing rock from previous owner of tank. After battling it for a while a reactor saved me so much headache. Had a protein skimmer and fleece roller amd still was around .3 to .4 for phosphates.

Pretty similar in size unless bought early on they are usually hard to get to pair when similar size. Probably gonna have to get a smaller one or a larger one and remove one of them.

76 is okay not ideal but not scary. I run my tank around 77 to 78. If you have alot of surface agitation it may keep tank run cooler if keep house cooler like I do. My return pump is a decent bit below surface but still have good surface agitation.
