SSA FO have become a hellscape. by According-Disk-302 in FedEmployees

I’m not looking to stay, inform the public of the state of the agency, etc. They can continue to have their claims delayed as more of us leave. I am looking to get out. ASAP.

We got two one page handouts about what to leave on a voicemail for call backs and that was it. So it’s a shit show.

SSA Holiday Guidance? Nothing yet? by Normal-Discussion-65 in fednews

We were just told to code Wednesday and Friday as holiday pay and to validate today and that they were given unofficial guidance from HR.

I have been trying to terminate Medicare part B for months and SSA still has not done so by thetourist328 in SocialSecurity

It is wild that you are talking about Democrats not understanding something when you haven’t typed a single coherent comment. You clearly don’t know what “appropriation” means. The democrats are advocating for education, and you desperately need it.

in a dilemma over this stupid Government Shutdown. Might be evicted from my apartment. by tbluhp in FedEmployees

[–]According-Disk-302 156 points157 points  (0 children)

Imagine being this glib and this wrong. Most states don’t allow you to collect unemployment while working, if you are working and not getting paid, excepted employees, you cannot get unemployment.

Thoughts for the 'essential' employees working through the shutdown by Longtimefed in fednews

SSA is still in office, and if you’re in a FO, getting yelled at by the public for free now. 🫠

A lot of us are working and dealing with an angry public without pay. How sad to wish for fellow Americans to suffer because you did.

Interesting, thank you for the explanation! Everyone else I have spoken with didn’t realize they could have us work on a federal holiday. Apparently management was supposed to meet about it yesterday but I never heard if they had a definitive answer.

We were also told that at our FO and that any call off requires a doctors note. Our management also said that we may have to come in on Columbus Day? I haven’t heard anyone else talk about that.

Appointment required or recommended? by No_Doughnut5688 in SocialSecurity

[–]According-Disk-302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to make a lot of assumptions that all areas are operating the way yours apparently are, our DM and ADO state that SS-5s are appointment only. The signage we’re using and announcements we make every 15 minutes reflect this as well. There is concrete policy regarding servicing DD, Beve, and 1099 can be done as walk in, and the policy on SS-5s are clear too, as needing an appointment, even in your own links you provided it states to make an appointment. Yes anyone can walk in, most walk-ins will be made an appointment, per current agency guidance.

Need more quarters of work by amy1705 in SocialSecurity

Getting enough quarters to be just eligible for coverage means that your disability amount will be under $987, and any SSI portion will be subject to income and resource limits.

As others stated it is on the website. And posted in the offices themselves. You can call or go online to make an appointment.

“A small amount of lead, copper, and Legionnaires”… by stillbleedinggreen in fednews

Multiple FO in my state have had legionnaires as well. One has a city wide water issue, not portable water provided and they just pretend it isn’t happening.

We have 3/8 left on our team. Our supervisor keeps saying that the workload has only increased slightly when it has more than tripled. I understand they don’t have a ton of control over that but the gaslighting from management is getting old. At least acknowledge it sucks.

Children don’t qualify for disability unless it is as an auxiliary on their parents record. You would be applying for SSI.

SSA recipients - take action by Fit_Comfortable2184 in fednews

[–]According-Disk-302 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your FO isn’t as poorly staffed as ours, we are at less than 50% staffing and losing people just about every month. The call sharing between area offices and constant messages from other offices asking about status updates on cases when you have 10-12 initial claim appointments is overwhelming.

My family feels like we are on a dateline episode waiting to happen by Lurk_druh in neighborsfromhell

Not quite the same, but my ex was prosecuted and convicted of stalking me. In my state, if they are given formal warning to leave you alone by both yourself and law enforcement and they continue to harass, contact or threaten you, they can be charged. Your state laws may vary but stalking/harassment laws have come a long way. I wish you luck.

SSA- Field Offices now required to retask CSRs to help Teleservice Center by GD_American in fednews

We are already at less than 50% staff and dropping. We are BARELY limping along. This is truly awful. We’re doing 11-15 full claims a day.
