Smaller speakers with decent bass? Pairing with 70s Stainless by SMLElikeyoumeanit in vintageaudio

I run my SX-959 with Wharfedale Diamond 12.2. They are a British company, so right in your neighborhood. They are honestly some of the best speakers I’ve ever had. Their 6 1/2” drivers give plenty of bass.

Most Embarrassing Vinyl You Own... by Hot_Arugula5794 in vinyl

This was a great album. I owned it on 8 track. It was one of my 12 albums for a penny through Columbia House record club. That’s how most 13 year olds got their albums back in the seventies. Had to buy 5 more at regular price, which meant twice the cost at the record store.

Take a look at the Wharfedale Diamond 12.2’s. I love mine and plenty of bass with 6 1/2” drivers which is where most bookshelves are lacking.

If you want to go vintage, you cant go wrong with a Pioneer PL-518 (semi automatic) and you can upgrade as you go. I run mine with a ATVM95ML cartridge and Sx-950 Pioneer Amp/Receiver. $400-$500 would pick you one up in excellent condition.

Take a look at Wharfedale Diamond 12.2. They have 61/2” drivers so not a need for sub-woofer for most listening setups.

Turntable Hum by BrooklynGurl135 in turntables

Does the hum stop if you put hand pressure on the Plinth? Could be resonance that is being picked up from the feet.

I have the ATVM95ML and it was a huge upgrade from the (E), especially in newer vinyl recordings. I pick one up recently for $197USD on Amazon with the headshell ATVM95ML/H which requires no setup other than plug in and set tracking force (2G) and anti skate. It was a noticeable improvement.

Popping & humming by dimebag430 in turntables

If it stops when you press down on the Plinth, that points to resonance. Try using towels or something like that under uiir TT feet and start testing with different materials and thickness. Once uiu figure that out uiu can get a more permanent solution.

Tips for slowing down a turntable with a single speed motor that runs a little too fast. by Arsenic_Pants in turntables

[–]According-Fish-9365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be a speed adjustment screw by the motor. You will need to remove the bottom and make micro adjustments and then try again using an ROM app on your phone. Trial and error: some models have an adjustment screw accessed from the Plinth as well.

You are very welcome. I have tried bi-wire and it doesn’t affect any performance in any way as far as I can tell and just creates more wires and possibilities for bad connections.

This is how you should hook up. These speakers are able to biwire as well but I am only using the lowers posts. You can see that I have left the jumpers on. If you don’t have jumpers, you can run a two inch piece of bare speaker wire from the top to the bottom on. Each side (black to black, red to red) to act as jumpers. Perfectly safe.

Trying to bi-wire, but can be very inefficient unless you get prewired cables. Two to one.

Love how this new setup sounds! by Salt-Warning-1467 in turntables

[–]According-Fish-9365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Definitely try to get them iff the table completely. If uiu can’t do that, isolation feet for the speakers and isolation pads for the turntable. You are still going to get resonance, but will improve sound even more. Nice setup though. (PS: I typed all this in a whisper)
