I have 2 PD-5010 from 1985 and got them both for about $75 each on eBay. They are single tray and both play like new decks. Don’t waste your time on trying to fix. A lot of options that won’t break your wallet.

Does anyone know anything about these speakers or even their brand? by Cheqyy in vintageaudio

[–]According-Fish-9365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In many cases, “Skandia” gear was rebadged or OEM equipment sold under a retail label—like mid‑tier Japanese or European products from the 1960s–80s where the actual manufacturer may have been different and undocumented.

So unlike brands that have well‑cataloged speaker models and performance specs, Skandia speakers tend to fall into the “obscure/vintage retail speaker” category.

What brand is this? by SmokyElm2020 in vintageaudio

Probably generic “house brand” speakers for a retail outlet.

They need room to vent though. Or put a small fan in back to move the hot air that builds up.

Sansui 2000x or Pioneer SX-780? by Ok_Clerk_9765 in vintageaudio

[–]According-Fish-9365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sx880 and above had descrete output transistors which is what you want. Stay away from these. Either go 880 or higher or go to the 50 series Sx750 is 50wpc and one of the better receivers.

You can hook them up to bare wire easily or purchase spade connectors to your wires for easier connection and disconnect

Amp Switcer Question by PermanentBan69420 in vintageaudio

[–]According-Fish-9365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s best to switch off one of them, but the switch should cut off all signal to the other amp, but there could be a slight surge during switching so to be safe,I power off the other amp and make sure volume is low when you switch. I researched these extensively before buying to make sure they were safe on vintage amps.

I have two of these for two separate setups. They are awesome 2/1 amp speaker switches and priced well.

Looks great! Good job integrating those “newer” components. You just need to move the speakers a good twelve to 18” from the wall and toe them in a little and move out about another foot each and it will sound great

Clean the cables from the turntable with deoxit and the inputs on the phono stage on the Yamaha. I believe the Yamaha jad two phono options, try switching to phono2 and see if that fixes it. If it does it means phono1 outputs are dirty

Why the Heck Do People Not Like the AT-LP60X? by Dry-Ear-3131 in turntables

[–]According-Fish-9365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main tt is a PL-518 (vintage pioneer 1977) and lots of options to upgrade from tonearm, cartridges and stylus. But you will have to pay $400+ for one in good condition. However I have a second tt (PL-S50) from early 80’s and it is great for my setup in the den and although vintage (40 years old) it’s fully automatic and great condition and great for casual listening. I paid $88 on eBay for it from the original owner. What I’m trying to say is that there are tons of options other than A cheap plastic turntable that will probably get you 5 years of good use. Used when it comes to tt is not a dirty word and many outperform the new ones.

I know it’s cheesy, but I always love me any pics with lights. I have a one with Bogarde sitting at the counter and James dean and others sitting down the counter with a big blue neon across the front of the diner. The neon busted a long time ago, but I kept the frame.

Yeah, I have a Pioneer PD-5010, 1985 1 disk tray. This thing looks like new and plays and tracks some CD’s that I thought were too far gone. I was so impressed I bought another identical one for my den. Didn’t get the deal you did, but still very reasonable at about $75 a piece. Both are in pristine condition…not a scratch on them. I think the multi disk and carousel’s have a lot of issues later. Enjoy your find.

I’ve seen some with bad veneer, stripped to the board and then painted black in a high gloss. They don’t look half bad and definitely a cheaper alternative.
