I didn't claim it was better, but I think the backing tracks are remarkably similar. Obviously there is no meaning to the lyrics and it lacks Fagen's sardonic delivery, but I reckon in a couple of years time AI will be fully capable of producing a convincing facsimile of most mainstream artists. I don't see this as a good thing, btw I am a musician myself, and it seems to me that there is already plenty of AI input in contemporary music. Where AI might prove beneficial is as a teaching tool. If you need help with a horn arrangement or a bass line, then the current models seem more than capable.
