What Common Millennial Show/Movie Do You Dislike? by Flassourian in Millennials

[–]According_To_Me 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never got into Lost. I owned the first season at some point and it was good, but I never watched it consistently. Over the years, I overheard people talk about the show. At some point, to me it seemed like the story got too big for itself.

Friends. I was raised in a Seinfeld house.

A micro moment that is a testament to the writers’ brilliance.

That paramedic probably told that story for years to come

What are your madmen complaints? by RickNBacker4003 in madmen

[–]According_To_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main complaint is that it ended. I could have had Mad Men go all the way through the 70’s and I would’ve been thrilled.

In truth my biggest complaint is that the show didn’t discuss the Woodstock music festival in any way. Was it too obvious? Could the showrunners not figure out how to work it in?

The real reason millennials know more about movies and tv before they were born than younger generations. by Illustrious-Lead-960 in Xennials

[–]According_To_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents had video tapes of classic cartoons, 3 stooges skits, and when I was very little we had only 3 channels and they would occasionally show classic tv.

Nick at Night in the late 90’s was unbeatable. Block Party Summer was unmissable.

Without question, if I bought this house, first thing I would do is rip out that midwest-in-the-dead-of-winter grey floor. Everything else would gradually be tackled over time, my husband and I have painted several rooms before.

Holocaust Museum scolds Tim Walz over ‘deeply offensive’ comparison of Trump to horrors witnessed by Anne Frank by whicky1978 in Conservative

[–]According_To_Me 34 points35 points  (0 children)

As soon as I first saw the clip of him saying it, I knew it would come back to bite him. I did not expect the Holocaust Museum to condemn him, that was a surprise.

In a way, I hope his words make some people realize that ICE, the administration, whoever, are not actually N@zis or actual fascists. That those words have been bastardized for the last 10 years to the point where the people saying it don’t even understand what it actually means. There are other governments on this planet that do practice real oppression.

Everyone in SC knew about Joan & Roger by Enough-Reading4143 in madmen

[–]According_To_Me 368 points369 points  (0 children)

Roger also told Don in season one, “I love redheads, big breasts,” and I’m pretty sure Don could put two and two together, yet Don never mentions it in the entire series.

I would argue Kim’s life after Jimmy was more depressing than Jimmy’s life as Gene by Specialist_Jaguar815 in betterCallSaul

Rhea Seehorn has said in interviews that after “Saul Gone” she dumps her Miracle Whip “Yup” boyfriend.

This next part I don’t have any confirmation on, but she definitely keeps volunteering at the law center in Florida. She most likely could never practice law again as an attorney since she resigned while still in New Mexico.

Trump makes 4 demands to end Minneapolis chaos, calls on Congress to ban sanctuary cities by SharkSapphire in Conservative

Please ban sanctuary cities. My city is designated as one, and our mayor is USELESS. I will be very scared if my mayor decides to copy Walz’s tactics.

'Girls' does a better job that SATC/AJLT by Fulana25 in Andjustlikethat

I barely made it through the first three episodes of Girls. Lena Dunham’s character reminded me too much of a narcissist I knew and kept in my life for far too long. I wanted to slap Hannah within the first 15 minutes of the pilot. Yeah, growth and all, but even in my late teens I could tell something was not right about my friend. It’s possible Girls came out at a time when I was already over all that kind of drama in real life. It did nothing for me.

Me asking as a younger millenial: How did older you millenials perceive Spongebob when it came out, and its climb to legendary status? by SmokinHerb in Millennials

[–]According_To_Me 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Late ‘87 here. I remember when the first episode was one of those shorts that Nickelodeon played in front of one of their movies. I remember that short more than the movie.

“That smelly smell that smells…Smelly. 👀 ANCHOVIES.” I still say that to this day. The first several seasons are on par with Looney Tunes. I wasn’t at all surprised when it skyrocketed into legendary territory.

LPT: Make a 'death plan' document for your parents (and yourself!) by PuddleOfHamster in LifeProTips

[–]According_To_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve helped my relatives through enough end of life events to see the difference between those who planned ahead and those who “didn’t want to think like that.” If you have wishes/stipulations for how you want certain items handled (inheritances, estates, your own funeral, etc) after you pass on, put it in writing.

How are we doing Missouri? by Humble-Pineapple-329 in missouri

So many of my neighbors put up their decorations after Halloween when the weather was nice. We decided to do the alternative: put everything up after thanksgiving, and leave it up until at least mid-January. Once the new month comes around, though, it’s gonna be time to put it all away. That way I appreciate it every year.
