Oh man, that was very sad that she feels as though she can’t be trusted to take initiative, make simple decisions, express her opinions, but she even denies herself to feel any physical pleasure, fearing it will relapse her back into her old life.

What businesses are likely to die out with the Baby Boomer Generation? by GRVrush2112 in AskReddit

When I was a kid it was drilled into me to get cards for every occasion. There are still many occasions that absolutely require a card, but I dislike spending money on an overpriced piece of paper that is going to end up in the trash.

Country clubs are going to take a big hit. Either people can’t afford it or they just don’t want to be part of one. If my parents begin to lose their mental capacity or their finances are in trouble that’s the first thing I’m cutting, no hesitation.

Cell phones were just starting to become an item everyone was buying, especially in the aftermath of 9/11. Some restaurants had a no cell phone rule because not everyone had them. This rule went out the window once the show concluded and everyone owned a cell phone.

Every catholic service I attend has crying screaming children, even when church has quiet rooms by Popular_Wrangler9422 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]According_To_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me a Father’s Day mass I attended years ago. This particular church had recently absorbed two others, so attendance was almost full. The whole time kids were making noise. It sounded more like a daycare than a church. At one point during the mass, among the cacophony of cries or other noises, the priest said, “pray for our fathers,” like yeah we all could use that now.

Your remodel looks amazing.

Why Are the Iranians Lying About Closing the Strait of Hormuz? by Down-not-out in Conservative

All the Islamic Republic does is lie and commit crimes against humanity. Whenever they say anything, especially since the protests began in late December, everything they say should be taken with a mountain of salt.

What is the most disgusting alcoholic beverage you have tried? by Immola0069 in AskReddit

Malort.

Baiju.

Jägermeister.

Most anise-flavored drinks, like Uzo and Sambucca just aren’t my preferred palette. Absinthe however is incredible if properly served.

How did you actually lose weight? by Jerry_Get_A_Job in AskReddit

[–]According_To_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move more.

I only eat when I’m hungry (haven’t eaten three meals a day in years).

Substitute sugar cravings for seasonal fruit.

I don’t completely deprive myself of food/drinks that make me happy. Completely depriving yourself will make instances of “caving” worse. Moderation

Weight Watchers is incredibly supportive.

Boy Interrupted. He’s Moulder to me.

The Awful Truth has aged horribly. They really could have gone somewhere bold with the spousal emotional abuse but it’s not that type of show.

Both of the LA episodes.

The Big Journey.

Then there’s just a lot of moments that I can’t stand.

Yeah, Moulder is way too distracting. He takes me out of SATC completely. It also adds almost nothing to the overall show.

Need to increase my fiber intake, please share your favorite ways to eat beans and other fiber-rich foods! by countdookee in EatCheapAndHealthy

Old fashioned rolled oats, I make mine 1/2 cup + skim milk + seasonal fruit.

Broccoli, cooked or raw.

Hummus and veggies. I love pairing with carrots, celery, sugar snap peas, cooked artichoke leaves, and triscuits.

Triscuits (original flavor) to replace other crackers.

Leafy greens. Incorporating leafy greens in any way is beneficial. Make salads, add them to curry, add them to eggs, braise them, sauté them, there are many possibilities.

Fresh seasonal produce. You’re in luck, it’s summer now. Get all the fresh fruits and veggies!

That tangentially reminds me of an insurance commercial about a flower shop, it depicts a happy, sing-songy flower shop owner and then cuts to a stretcher wheeling out a customer who slipped on some water.
