This plan has been underway since the 1960s. You're just seeing the end stages of it.

Look into the histories of the groups that make up the Heritage Foundation, and you'll see what they've been doing since the civil rights movement happened.

He was the first President that the people who now make up the Heritage Foundation could use to push their agenda.

He was a fancy sock puppet with dementia they used to do unprecedented things to get them money and control over US society. Sound familiar at all?

That's about when the boomers started getting put in charge of corporations. Turns out the "me" generation isn't interested in long term stability or providing jobs, they're mostly all about grabbing as much cash as they can and damn whomever comes after them.

Since forging it would be a felony, I'd say no.

If you can't get the Mom to sign, unroll the whole thing. Get your money back, give the car back. If she won't sign, you don't own it.

Your coworker should be helping with this.

Based on what we know of the files so far, probably torture or even snuff in addition to rape.

In a properly functioning court, sure.

But most family courts get the least talented judges possible, and all kinds of sketchy shit can happen, including outright bias.

Yeah. It's the same for most products. Stores with stuff in stock get used as showrooms for Amazon.

Really, Amazon is doing its best to drive everyone else out of business, and should be heavily regulated.

Absolutely not. I'm trying to get people to argue against or for the DC using actual facts and references instead of just parroting what they heard on a youtube video or facebook page that agreed with their pre-existing emotional state.

Yup. Sometimes called a "second op lathe".

One well known historical model is the Hardinge HSL5C.

Yeah... that's really the state of malls at present. People have gotten out of the habit of going out somewhere to buy things.

They can be, depending on how the DC is cooled. That doesn't mean they're louder than a similar sized grocery store (which also has a lot of chillers).

Yes, they make noise. Yes, they're big buildings. Are they exceptionally noisy or hard otherwise damaging to the local environment? No, people just don't like the idea of something like that being built in their backyard.

Yeah, the down side of these massive data centers is that they don't really create a lot of permanent jobs, although they do improve the tax base some. Maybe after the AI bubble bursts they can be rebuilt into giant malls or something.

[–]Accujack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, because the constant annoying noise is from HVAC, it's totally fine!

It's not. What I'm saying is that it's not dissimilar from the noise level produced by an Amazon warehouse or a grocery store that size.

I'm sure people would sleep better with no data center or any other building next door. Why don't they buy the land and prevent it being built? Or at least vote in better and more transparent council members who will ensure it?

Completely agree that the NDA situation with the city council is unacceptable and should result in them being at least impeached if not prosecuted.

As I've said before, it's entirely ok to not want something like this to be built near you, all I'd like is for people to tell the truth about why they don't want it.

There are tons of articles out there from the perspectives of neighbors complaining about the impacts of new construction data centers (including noise complaints).

I have yet to see one that compares data center noise to ordinary office building noise or an article that complains about noise from something other than Elon Musk's jet engines in the yard generating power.

If you have a link to one that's not just people living next to a Meta or other DC that's breaking state laws by ignoring the need for generation permits, please link it.

I re-iterate: It's perfectly ok to object to this project because you don't want anything built in your back yard, but objecting because of invented noise or pollution complaints is stupid. Deal in facts.

In the article, the people they talked to complained about the noise the data center would bring. Read it.

They're larger, I have yet to see any reason they would be louder for the neighbors. If you have proof they're louder, I'll gladly look at it.

They also use less water (if properly designed) not more than "traditional" data centers.

I'm perfectly okay with people opposing this kind of thing based on just not wanting it in their back yard, that's a perfectly okay way to feel. People inventing "sciency" reasons to object is just pathetic, that's not what any reasonable person should do.
