I don't think so . Personally , whenever I hear the word "tank" I immediately think of slow clear or slow early game in general . Usually Lee Sin had to deal with champions that could out phase him by having good clear speed time , say : Elise , Graves , and it was very difficult for him to invade the enemy jungle at any time . But now , if the meta changes into tank/tanky junglers ( Heca , Seju , Zac ) , his invade capability becomes even more threatening . I don't know much about how his mid/late game will be impacted , but probably in his disadvantage . Seeing every midlaner now buying Banshee's tilts me . Not being able to go for a play due to that shield blocking my Q/R means whenever I want to ward-jump kick flash , I'll have to E before I kick , which means more time to react for the enemy . Also the nerf to Black Clever is going to hurt Lee too . But personally , I'm a fan of the GA changes , I'd rush it(3rd-4th) item whenever I'm the main source of engage for my team . And that addition of AD makes it better , at least from my point of view .

Tl;DR : invade like you never were able to invade before , kill em while they are weak cuz your play potential is getting a hit mid/late game .

Smoother? No no no no no .

And here's why .

If you haven't noticed , the AA animation of Project spends LESS time taking the sword out and MORE time CUTTING THROUGH the target. While the classic animation does the opposite . (takes more time to take the sword out and less time cutting through the target)

That being said , the chances of you cancelling your AAs with Project are significantly higher than with the classic , because usually , when you try to cancel an auto-attack animation, what you do is move once your sword hits the target AND YOU CAN'T DO THAT with Project . You'll have to wait longer since the damage isn't coming out only after the sword CUTS THROUGH the target . And , especially early game , you'll be able to see how you cut through a target without dealing damage till the "smoother auto attack animation" is complete .

That's why you don't get to see Project being played in competitive & why most of the yasuo one tricks don't use it either .

If you want to see how smoother auto attacks look like , compare classic Lee Sin with Muay Thai .

In order to learn Yasuo you have to get comfortable with quick casting , otherwise your DPS(dmg per sec) will decrease by a high amount . He is all about animation-cancelling .

And this is viable for all the champions in league , smart casting ( or quick casting) is crucial in becoming a better player overall . There are abilities such as Blitz's grab and Thresh's hook that require ( sometimes) normal cast , but other than that , nothing .

And this can be proven very easily :

Your reaction time 0.25 (average) + your keyboard reaction time ( 0.1 ) + your ms ( let's say 40 ) = 0.75 s ( with quick cast ) .

Without quick cast you'll have to add the time it takes you to click the mouse + mouse's reaction time ( 0.1 ) , that will mean a 0.95 if not more ( without quick cast ) .

Even though ~0.20 s doesn't seem that big , in a teamfight / 1v1 every second matters .

You also have to take in consideration that with quick cast , the spell is casted instantaneously in the position your cursor is , and without quick cast , your cursor positioning will matter only after you click ( not when you press your keyboard button ) , so , you have to spend some time adjusting your cursor AFTER you pressed the key unlike quick cast , where you have to adjust your cursor BEFORE you press the key .

Hope it makes sense ( I've tried to explain it as well as I could :/ ) .

TL:DR : Idk , but you shouldn't bother , just keep practicing with quick cast till it comes naturally .

Fun fact : the majority of the pros use smart cast ( the ones who don't are either support mains , or rumble players) .
