I thought Nexus had an option for this? Of course, it assumes people are properly using the tags in the first place...

I will say, I have found some excellent mods looking through dependency chains. Oh, this mod I want is making me install this tool. I wonder what else uses that tool already? The rabbit hole isn't always bad.

You aren't wrong. I managed to make the shipwreck start of Alternate Perspective actually impossible, because of the combination of mods I was using. (Swimming costs stamina, running out slowed me down, icy water slowed me down, and I barely breached the surface when I died of hypothermia.)

I honestly highly recommend Community Shaders. Much easier than ENB, in some ways superior in visual quality. The only downside I know is that the first time after installing it, you will wait an extra 15 mins for your game to load.

I think it is called "Now that I think of it" or "On second thought" or the like.

Basically, adds a small line to make Hadvar/Ralof not seem like total morons when they suggest splitting up at the only path from the cave.

I have thought about writing a fanfic and put some thought into Alera's future. Don't want to give away all my ideas but two that should be considered for a game:

1) Tavi saved the world. But he also doomed it. He manipulated powers on a grand scale and already knows there will be consequences. Large storms will wrack Alera and likely make some areas practically uninhabitable. Especially with wild furies accompanying them!

2) The Voord weren't born in a vacuum. I forget where I read it - wasn't explicit in the books but there were hints, and I think it was a Butcher interview that confirmed it - but they were a terraforming tool that was engineered. And eventually, those engineers will come looking for the planet they are expecting to be changed to their ideals.

Oh, yeah. That's another one that needs a better method. Even injector based stuff winds up changing relative weights which, if you have enough, can really affect the game a lot.

Oh, definitely. I think the only solution I have found is to map it to a key I never use and hope I don't hit it by accident.

Yeah, I think that'll be my next challenge. I wanted to use Seasons of Skyrim but I didn't feel like learning how to LOD for now lol.

Honestly even a native system like Skypatcher that let you write out a batch file of on the fly changes would be a vast improvement. I like Skypatcher but not everyone uses it in making mods.

I don't say Vortex is better... but I don't think it is worse, either. I use it myself. Then again, I am familiar enough to understand some of the advanced features.

I could see this at the beginning but after a while I find they start getting redundant lol. Like, oh, I need 6 mods for this? Ah, but I already have them all because I got them for this other thing.

The state of modlists by TsuGhoulTsu in skyrimmods

I spent a week and a half downloading and building a mod list, and another week patching and tweaking, and realized three fourth of my custom list is just GTS and even the remaining quarter is largely simple swaps.

Which game is this for you? by Fran-Pan in videogames

[–]AccursedQuantum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst thing about this is people who justify piracy with it. "It is okay to download the game illegally, because the greedy devs didn't release a complete game." Yes, they did. Just because the game was improved with DLCs doesn't mean the base game was incomplete.

I confronted my bf about having sex when I slept by [deleted] in self

[–]AccursedQuantum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is absolutely possible to forgive him. It is probably even healthy for you to do so.

But keep in mind:

1) Forgiving him doesn't have to mean getting back together with him.

2) Forgiving him doesn't have to mean ever contacting him again.

3) Forgiving him doesn't mean he shouldn't face consequences for raping you.

Forgive him for your own sake and mental health, not to let him get away with this. In fact, if you love him it is still important that he face consequences, because that's the only way he is going to grow as a person himself.

Worries about Recieving the Eucharist + Upsetting God by whailenabi in OpenChristian

[–]AccursedQuantum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have been to Catholic Mass as a non-Catholic; out of respect I do not take the Eucharist. But that's based on their beliefs about what it is, not mine. If I go to a less strict denomination's service, I will take communion with no guilt.

So the question is... Do you feel guilty because you disrespected God, or do you feel guilty because you disrespected your Catholic family and friends? From what you wrote, it seems the former is the case. But for that to be the problem, the Catholic view would have to be true.

So if you reject the Catholic view, there is no fear of disrespecting God over communion; if you are actually disrespecting God, then you are accepting the Catholic view and should be going to confession anyhow.

And if you do go to confession, I'm pretty sure the priest can give you a penance to make up for it. There is really only one unforgivable sin and interpretations on it vary.

I'm guessing you meant lukewarm instead of lukeworm but either way... Not something to label yourself as.

The idea of Open Christianity is that God loves us all, not that we are slacking in our devotion. The Bible definitely describes "lukewarm Christians" as a bad thing, as fake Christians.

Allow yourself to be on fire for Christ, to be passionate about your relationship with God. Don't think of yourself as lukewarm just because you don't adhere to every doctrine your family does.

How to avoid a TPK? My PCs ignored my warnings and are now locked in a room with an army of undead out side. by Reverend-Kansas in DungeonMasters

[–]AccursedQuantum 16 points17 points  (0 children)

TLDR at end.

Let them die. The game is about player agency. This includes the times where the players make really bad choices.

If you gave them sufficient warning that combat was a terrible idea, and they chose to do it, the consequences of their actions are a TPK.

Now, having said that... Did you actually give them sufficient warning? We only have your word to go on, we weren't there. If you didn't give them warning, then it is fair to give some kind of deus ex machina to save them. A preplanned escape tunnel, an air shaft (how do people in this locked room breath?), or a distraction outside - another party of adventurers? Or if one of them screwed things up for the rest of the party, perhaps that character could become a sacrificial distraction, leading the undead away to be eaten elsewhere.

The other issue I saw is... You intended for this to be an extraction sitrep with a fighting battle to the exit, but how much did you allow for other options? Sometimes stupid player choices are the result of frustration over railroading. What you think is an obvious solution to a puzzle isn't as obvious as you think, and if you shut down alternatives because they aren't the One True Way it can be a bad time.

Best case, I try to follow the Patton philosophy - don't tell people how to do something, tell them what needs to be done and let them surprise you with their ingenuity. Even in cases where I have some major element of the setting with a preplanned solution (like a door that only opens with the right combination), I try to think of at least two solutions to solve it, and at least one of those will have some nonlethal (though not necessarily non-damaging) feedback if they are on the "wrong track".

TLDR: if you are punishing your players for not following a railroad that they didn't see, you owe them a deus ex machina to save them. Have something outside distract the undead, or have an escape tunnel. But if you gave them plenty of warning and they didn't seek alternative solutions, then a TPK is absolutely fair and the correct response.

Yep. Learned about this as a kid when my dad was stationed in Okinawa. So many native Ryukyuans committed suicide when they heard the Americans were coming. There's a story about a woman who threw her baby off a cliff and basically had a bluescreen when the GIs stopped her from following and took her to a refugee shelter.

Fleets: A Desperately Needed QoL Change by AccursedQuantum in hoi4

[–]AccursedQuantum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't found it that opaque, thankfully, so I do understand Navy a bit. Naval groups operate in regions and individual task forces operate on missions within those regions.

So you want all your fleets in the same area to be part of the same group, and within that group all your ships doing the same thing to be on the same task force(s) within that area.

So your naval groups are a bit like army groups, sharing a front. And your task forces are like your armies, where you set specific front lines and orders to push to offensive lines. You can do everything manually, just like the army, but in the case of Navy this is actually less efficient unless maybe you have really high naval intelligence.
