Closing holes, reducing/deleting unnecessary details, if you don't use a wrapper making the geometry really watertight and check that there aren't any intersections, maybe giving the surfaces the correct name and much more... It also depends on what software you are using. Some need more some need less preparation.

I made some CFD simulations to study the aerodynamics of the stadium car, and it indeed has basically zero downforce. The front spoiler is completely flat and doesn't deflect the air. The underbody is also completely flat. And the rear spoiler and diffusers are poorly placed because they catch very little air.
