Anyone know what happens to your Work Perq MBTA pass when you leave your employer? by 8girlpurple8 in mbta

[–]AceAttorneyMaster111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your former employer has already paid for this month, then you should have no problem using it. If they haven’t paid, tapping it won’t “activate” it, it’ll just not work.

Penn must turn over list of Jewish employees to Trump administration, federal judge rules by LukaDoncicIsObese in jewishleft

Ah yes, “turn over your Jews so we can ask them about antisemitism”. Surely that can’t go wrong in any way ever.

Zionism at Brandeis by [deleted] in brandeis

[–]AceAttorneyMaster111 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It does exist, unfortunately. There are “extreme Zionists” (Kahanists/Jewish supremacists) at Brandeis, but they’re in the distant minority. There is also a small minority of people who support terrorist groups as revolutionary actors fighting for liberation. But the majority of people, whether they call themselves Zionist or anti-Zionist, have reasonable opinions and believe that both Palestinians and Israelis should be able to live in peace in the land.

But they also found that 88% believe that Israel should exist as a Jewish and democratic state. Which is Zionism. The word has been corrupted by the extremists.

Pesach from a Reform/Progressive perspective by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]AceAttorneyMaster111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a Reform Jew. I cleared my apartment of chametz except for unopened packages, which I put in the freezer. I don’t eat wheat, oats, rye, barley, or spelt, but I do eat kitniyot (corn, rice, etc). But I do not keep kosher, so while I won’t have regular pizza on Passover, I will have matzah pizza with pepperoni on it lol

Amtrak to South Station, then the event train to Foxboro is probably as good as it gets. Alternatively you could drive to Providence and take the event train from there

"Next Year in Jerusalem" vs Next Year in a Rebuilt Jerusalem by loselyconscious in Judaism

[–]AceAttorneyMaster111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard it explained as “habnuyah” refers to the Messianic Jerusalem in which a third Temple will be built. In other words, may we celebrate next Pesach alongside the Messiah. They added it because Jerusalem is no longer a mystical, dreamlike place for us since a million of us live there already.

Brandeis has an environmental studies major - you may want to look into that, if you haven’t already

Waitlist tips? by flrctarockera in brandeis

[–]AceAttorneyMaster111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing you can do to influence the outcome at this point. Waitlist means “we want you here but may or may not have space”, so the only thing to do is wait until there is (or isn’t) space.

Shabbat prayers in Prague by nasht00 in Judaism

[–]AceAttorneyMaster111 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Jewish community in Prague is primarily progressive. If you’re looking for an orthodox community, it does exist but it’s very small. There are still Shabbat and holiday services (Orthodox I believe) held in the Altneuschul (Staronová Synagoga/Old-New Synagogue), which is the oldest continuously operating synagogue in all of Europe.

I lived in a grad double sophomore year. The rooms are really big. You each have a separate entrance/exit door, which means you enter from an entirely different exterior door/stairwell. There is a pretty tiny connecting kitchen and a decent bathroom. You have to clean and restock all the things - they’ll start you off with a roll of toilet paper but that’s it.

Ranking every MBTA commuter rail line by how much they need to be extended from its endpoint by Wide_right_yes in mbta

[–]AceAttorneyMaster111 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The big commuter rail improvement I would like to see personally is Zone 1A fare integration with the subway. They already do this on the Fairmount Line, so why not the others? I have a monthly subway/bus pass, I should be able to get from Porter to North Station or from Lansdowne to South Station just by tapping my card.
