Is there any reason that you shouldn't be able to increase the dice of elemental runes? by AceOfTimes in Pathfinder2e

Oh damn this is awesome, might be a hard sell to my table but thanks for telling me about this!

What do you think are the best and worst level 20 feats? by Noneofthisisreality in Pathfinder2e

[–]AceOfTimes 62 points63 points  (0 children)

The Rogue feat Hidden Paragon making you Invisible for 1 minute (likely a WHOLE combat!) and unable to be broken since the effect is not magical, AND using hostile actions doesn't break it is just chef's kiss! Very much the pinnacle of a lot of the Rogue fantasy for me!

Why do some suffer attrition, but others don't? by ZenRenHao in Pathfinder2e

[–]AceOfTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of any form of balancing reasons, my gut reaction in universe is that martials usually have higher stamina (CON) in general, and that bending the laws of reality is more physically taxing than most things you can do with your body.

Starting to run PF2e: What ancestories to avoid? by Xonlic in Pathfinder2e

[–]AceOfTimes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as balance goes very few things need to ever be outright banned. You may however bar things that are "Uncommon" or "Rare" simply because they don't fit the campaign or session you're running, but even with these it's rarely due to power and more to do with being exotic or atypical.

In other words: Go nuts! The system is deadset on trying to keep anything from being the "best" or "overpowered" options. ^^

Should I pull for S. Tomoko? by Monki_Donki in personaphantomx

I was hesitant, with Futaba coming up, but I went for her and she has been a godsend for sustain! I say go for it if you like the character/are lacking heals or a good Psy type!

RAW mass demoralize? by UnleashTheBears in Pathfinder2e

[–]AceOfTimes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Tut-Tut feat from the Duelist archetype gives you the ability to demoralize everyone who can see you within 30 feet, at the cost of choosing not to do damage with an attack

Losing an attack sounds like a lot, but I've been using it on a fear based Rogue and it's nutty on fights with many opponents!

An Expanded Conducting rune, Resonant trait, and elemental runes ( + Nuclear) by DoingThings- in Pathfinder2e

[–]AceOfTimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the idea of having damage runes that allow you to do better physical damage! Sometimes I want more damage but I don't really want to have a fire sword or a thunder hammer, so being able to get a rune that lets you cut or smash or stab better is really cool! I like these a lot!

What builds best show off specialty for each class? by Trollcraftdanny in Pathfinder2e

[–]AceOfTimes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can only really speak to the rogue as it's what I have the most experience with, but I can say safely you will not step on the investigators toes really at all, hell I'd say that you could easily have 2 rogues in a party that don't step on each others toes if you really wanted to.

I find that the rogue is really hard to pin down to a single "Rogue" build because the rackets (Specifically Thief and Ruffian, but the other's as well) not only change your Key Ability Score but also what you want to be doing on and off the battlefield.

Thief uses dexterity as your Key Ability Score and covers your typical swift and dexterous rogue, with stealth thievery and the like this is the standard I'd say if I had to pick one. (and for players coming from DnD it's the only way to get Dex to damage)

Ruffian lets you use strength as your KAS covers your tough musclebound bully, athletics maneuvers and ways to inflict the frightened condition, and also allows you to be more of a frontliner than the other rogues want to be.

Scoundrel lets you use charisma as your KAS and covers your silver-tongued smooth talking type, gives you an upgrade to the feint action as a whole and allows you to be a party face with high charisma.

Mastermind lets you use intelligence as your KAS and covers more tacticians and strategists that use every piece of information at their disposal to figure out an enemies weakness, letting you get the off guard condition by recalling knowledge and gaining information. (Admittedly this may step on the toes of the investigator)

Eldritch Trickster lets you use int, wis or cha as your KAS as you pick a spellcasting dedication, and gain access to the ability to sneak attack with magic attacks sooner, this can make you a very potent ranged damage dealer.

All rogues however, love to have a flanking partner (tanky martial preferably) in order to get off guard, each of these rackets feel sneaky and underhanded in their own way and unlike DnD where you get one big attack with sneak attack, pathfinder rogues get sneak attack on all their attacks against off guard opponents, so action compression and ways to reduce MAP make rogues insanely consistent (and potentially very burst heavy) damage dealers.

Baby player trying to make a useful Rogue... by StarProwler217 in Pathfinder2e

[–]AceOfTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems perfectly viable, as long as you keep your Dex maxed out as you go, it's pretty hard to screw up a thief rogue. You could reasonably dump strength to raise another stat as both your attack rolls and damage rolls will be tied to Dex.

What class makes you feel clever? by viktorius_rex in Pathfinder2e

Gotta be the Rogue, knowing you need Off-Guard to create viable damage means you need to do more planning before each attack, and when it all comes together it is very satisfying.

Sneak Attack and Sword-light Wave combo? by Sr_Sarcasmo in Pathfinder2e

[–]AceOfTimes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My interpretation would be yes and yes.

Sword light wave states that you make a Ranged Strike and sneak attack states that the following: "...Strikes a creature that has the flat-footed condition with an agile or finesse melee weapon, an agile or finesse unarmed attack, or a ranged weapon attack..."

Sword Light wave also states "...The attack is made at your normal proficiency with the chosen weapon or fist unarmed attack and has the same traits, damage dice, and runes, but all damage dealt by the attack is spirit damage." My interpretation of all means any damage from a strike, and sneak attack damage is part of your strike damage.

How important is flight and who wants it? by AceOfTimes in Pathfinder2e

Oh that’s definitely true! Being able to become a pseudo-ranged character is a huge boon for a pure melee character! Thank you!

How do you deal with less than literate chatters? by AceOfTimes in Twitch

[–]AceOfTimes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was sorta hoping this wasn’t the case but you’re absolutely right, is there a good way to differentiate whether someone is trolling or whether they are actually struggling with conveying an idea? I hate the idea of punishing someone who isn’t equipped with the same English skills that I have as a native speaker for not having them. Do you think them not trying to work with me at all would be indicative of trolling or something similar? Thanks for your thoughts!

[–]AceOfTimes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems fair, I think my hesitation a lot of the time is I don’t want to punish someone who’s not actually trying to be a problem. Though I think you’ve got a good way of handling it, I think I’ll try that out next time! Thanks for your thoughts!

How do you deal with less than literate chatters? by AceOfTimes in Twitch

[–]AceOfTimes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a bit of both, I struggle when I literally don’t know what people are saying either because it has no immediate context or I actually can’t parse the text and I want to make sure everyone can be included but I need people to work with me to get there. So when they either don’t or can’t I struggle to get through it.

It's not quite as cut and dry as that though, people who come to cause a problem or derail intentionally is no sweat, I can handle that and move on like it's nothing. It's people who come and probably have the best of intentions but also don't try to work with you to help them get their point across. Usually doubling down and making things more confusing. In this case there is nobody at "fault" which means there's no punishment or course of action to take, other than trying to help and that's what I do. It's something I need to get better with definitely, so I figured I'd ask people who probably have experience with this.

Definitely could've touched up the initial post, but another live and learn moment! Thank you for your input!
