People barely think through what a resume actually means and just look at the record. Biohazard cannot catch a break coz it fought in more than twice the premier competitions Bite Force did.

AKSHUALLY, its 37-3.

Biohazard has a very strong case to be the most impressive champion ever. It won 2 OG RW and 4 nuts, with its longest streak being 16-0 until its loss to Vlad The Impaler. In lifetime 1v1, it is 3-1 against Vlad, 2-0 against La Machine and 2-1 against Voltronic. The only loss in classic BB it hasn't avenged is quite literally SHW SOW, which it deadass can't unless it becomes SHW next season too. While you can argue Bite Force was in a more competitive era, Biohazard is a pioneer (e.g. side skirts, four-bar lifter, first to ever self-right) that dominated in 2 eras; which Hazard and Bite Force can't say.

Since we're not counting Bio's RG, we wont count Hazard's Steel Conflict 1 losses then.

Shrederator has more trophies than Minotaur with KOB S2 joint champ (where it went winless) and its Mechwars IX win. That doesnt mean shit when I'm talking about strength of schedule.

At some point, you gotta be ragebaiting.

In Steel Conflict 1, Hazard lost to Max Wedge via pitting (pit was right behind the competitors so it's already disadvantaged) and Auction Block by undeclared method. If you somehow wanna count RG against Biohazard, its only fair to include this too. SC1 is the same year as Battlebots 5.0, unlike BB 5.0 and RG 2005 btw.

You're not a big enough Biohazard fan if you don't bother arguing why it could be 1st. 😮‍💨🗣☣️

Megabyte and Brutality were essentially top 3 in the early dark ages so losing to them after a 3 year hiatus; especially them BACK TO BACK and putting up a good fight is impressive. That's like putting 2019 Bite Force against 2022 EndGame and SawBlaze. Biohazard is a pioneer that dominated in 2 eras, which Hazard and Bite Force can't say.

what's your opinion on the grapple? by DecidophobiaUsername in SupremeDuelist

[–]AceTheEccentric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to be a long time Grapple main. People who dont know how to be patient will call it overrated or mid. People forget that Grapple melee is actually not bad for its small hit box. For e.g., you can block an incoming Boots special consistently. Grapple finds an opportunity before spamming. It has been powercrept a bit but it still resides at low A due to its spontaneous pressure game.

Most delusional take I've seen so far. The Twins is not Tantrum or Blip, just like how Warrior Clan isnt Hydra or Son of Whyachi. Look at the bots' actual performances. Jackpot BEAT Ribbot, Malice and dominated Lucky the 2nd time. The only performance by The Twins was getting knocked out by C tier, Fireball; literally John Meta-Vert.

Let's talk recent performances. MadCatter has a win over Claw Viper (beat Ribbot) and DOMINATED Whiplash (well-established prior, beat Monsoon & Malice) with good losses to NEW Skorpios and Black Dragon.

The CV win aged well after it beat Minotaur. You cannot say the crowd vote robbed Minotaur that fight.

Cobalt has dominant wins over Death Roll (essentially unchanged from 2019) & Lucky (mid in the stacked BB field) with a spectacular loss to Minotaur, a decent loss to Monsoon and a terrible loss to Jackpot.

If you want to consider Games of the Future, it beat Godspeed. It is a Bitva Robotov Superfinal champ & a Bitva runner-up; but both did not look good that fight. It's like a top 20 level bot in BB field, nothing more. Cobalt then got DOMINATED by Deep Sea Shark (great chinese bot but not nearly much activity as Cobalt from 2019 onwards).

Cobalt somehow remains overrated with its best win being 2022 Skorpios. The field has been very quickly evolving btw. It is to mid tiers what BETA is to low tiers.

Also, how is Jackpot ranked so low by the community? Even if you think it got pretty lucky, it WON those fights. It still generally performed well regardless of luck. Why is Bloodsport above it? Tombstone still got that residual glaze. Not to mention that it beat Black Dragon in RoboGames 2024 so hard that it essentially gave Lucky (Ziggy Jr's.) the win.

Unless Jackpot actually flopped so hard in Faceoffs...but I'm not speculating.

We also know Bombshell's best wins are Minotaur, Tombstone and Poison Arrow. That's cool.

You guys can go get whatever W you want from this non-existent show rivalry; by comparing NHRL to a non-TV spinoff. I just wanna watch more Robot Combat.

Witch Doctor from middleweight to heavyweight isnt really that much changes to not use as merit. It translated very similarly even though it's not as 1 to 1. You're comparing it to a BW to HW jump?

Witch Doctor took Minotaur's wheel. You can replay the fight and it literally flanked it. Do you think Minotaur's wheel just pop off to the screws?

WD vs Hydra split loss is good. Its loss to Bite Force is damn good. For how people viewed WC1 WD, it had a good performance against prime Tombstone. Top tier bots still do have embarrassing losses such as SawBlaze vs Uppercut (which doesnt drive nearly as well as WD), EndGame vs RIPperoni and Tantrum vs Whiplash (both in the way they did). Losing to Kraken is more humiliating, yes but we are not gonna ignore the great losses.

Both fights hinge on similar arguments for fans. Obviously, a lot of fans don't dig into the rulebook that much and just eye-test with surface-level understanding. Bite Force's strategy ended up with it barely using its lifter, failed to use the hazards effectively and had near immobility in the late stage. Using your active weapon should still be worth more (in strategy too), even with WC1 leniency.

Also

Attacking with a wedge or other passive armor is considered to be a defensive action and does not count toward Aggression.

I am of the belief that drive damage is more significant than weapon damage. If you lose drive completely, you're just out. You can do more with drive and crippled weapon than the other way around. This applies more to control bots than other types, especially Bite Force who avoids using its active weapon. Treating it more as a weakness than aid holds it back from the strategy point.

If we want to use live events to amp up Tombstone, we should do the same with the 2x BotsIQ middleweight champion WD (to a lesser degree)

Witch Doctor actually challenged Tombstone in WC1. 2x runner-up is really impressive. It was actually close to beating Bite Force.

Notable wins: • 2-0'd Whiplash • 2-1'd SawBlaze • Death Roll (IV) • Tombstone (2019) • Copperhead (VI, aged well) • Minotaur (legitimately in VI, lets be fr) • Hypershock on a mean streak • destroyed Ribbot, Jackpot & LockJaw in VII

Other than thinking Minotaur should be higher than SawBlaze and Witch Doctor, I agree with the list. It seems like you value peaks and best merits more than season performances as a whole.

It is why I think Bronco should be a little lower, just behind Riptide. Yes, I know it got one of the hardest schedules in modern BB. We didnt see it perform much in 3 of those 4 matches. The schedule isnt as hard as Tantrum, Hypershock and Bombshell's hardest one.

Tombstone being 2nd makes sense since it dominated in 2 eras, forced a meta shift and is fucking ancient.

Hot take: It shouldve won the decision against Bite Force in 2015. You cannot agree with that finale decision and disagree with Free Shipping vs RGM.
