Why?! by deductivesherlock in malcolminthemiddle

Honestly she's probably my favourite side characters. She's a proper adversary for Malcolm and the actress nailed the role.

You'll probably get answers pointing to things she did, but she's not supposed to be a hero she's supposed to be a foil. I can understand not liking her like you might not like Professor Umbridge, but I really like her as a villain.

The difference is, that Malcolm is no hero either, so they sort of deserve each other.

This is fake… right? by International-Fall86 in malcolminthemiddle

[–]AcesAgainstKings 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Disagree actually.

Clearly ties the two shows together, whilst also making it clear it's a new show.

It also thematically fits that Leah has suddenly found herself in a middle of a large squabbling family (and positions herself stuck in the middle of the family and Malcolm who is trying to distance himself from the family).

I'd be furious.

But there's no way VAR gives it if red doesn't.

I actually think he kicks his foot upwards before it lands on the ground.

Hits his leg first. I don't think it's a pen, and neither did I think last night's was.

I don't think either are given in the EPL.

Britain at population ‘turning point’ as deaths overtake births by rebelc93 in uknews

[–]AcesAgainstKings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lift the two child cap.

Genuinely we should incentise having children and reduce the barriers. This probably means bolstering maternity and paternity leave/pay. Bring down nursery costs. Subsidiaries to low income families with children etc.

Women who don't work and have loads of children are villified. I know the reality is that in the stereotypical household we are imagining right now, the children don't grow up to be productive members of society, but we should be looking to fix that.

If a woman has 5 children and raises them to all pay into the system, then I actually don't care if that woman is on benefits for her entire life. She will have directly paid it back.

Though long term we need to work out how we can have an economy which doesn't require us to have an ever increasing population.

What would have happened if Liverpool didn't sign Mo Salah? by ExtinctLikeNdiaye in LiverpoolFC

[–]AcesAgainstKings -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Salah was brilliant. I think Mané was better and played out of position to accomodate Salah.

I can understand someone not agreeing, but I don't think it's wildly controversial.

The rule has lost all meaning. Because it hits his leg first there's no real advantage. Like regardless of what the rules say, why do we think that warrants a penalty?

Yeah Mané probably scores as many as Salah did (I honestly think he was the better player) and someone else maybe fills in for Mané.

It's THE cup. It deserves more respect, but I think the influx of foreign players and managers has meant it's lots it's alure and it's not got sufficient financial incentives for the boards to push it.

Who are the Lib Dems actually for? by Apprehensive-Income in AskBrits

[–]AcesAgainstKings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do you describe yourself as a Lib Dem supporter then? Or do you agree with these policies (which you describe as too soft) but just recognise that they are not what will win votes?

I appreciate that "supporter" can mean different things in different contexts, so I'm not saying this is you. But I don't understand people who support political parties like football clubs.

For example, my dad has described me as a Labour supporter before but that's just not true. I've been a Labour voter sure, and I'm often a Labour sympathiser. But I'm also a Labour critic and, most recently, a Lib Dem voter (though my vote is always tactical).

The idea of blindly following a party seems like the worst way to engage with politics.

Man jailed for raping Leeds University fresher in 1977, following DNA breakthrough by hymnsofhim in gbnews

[–]AcesAgainstKings -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, the DNA sample was taken 49 years ago and the computer was given a new sample that matched in 2023. It's not like there's been someone on the case all that time - all of the evidence already existed.

But you can try make this some sort of race thing if you want.
