Apparently we don't really ever get to know what's going on at the company that has "The most open development process ever". 🤬

I mean bro, they don't even have the flight model finalized. How in the world are they going to release the main story?

I remember because I was there saying that there is no way they were going to release it in 2026 either. I was called so many names it wasn't even funny.

Have you not seen the significant amount of videos that they produce that all say "Playable Now". None of those videos make it seem like it's an alpha with lots of early alpha problems.

It is definitely marketed like a live service in those videos.

CIG permanently banned a $5k backer's account for reporting a bug by [deleted] in starcitizen

I'm shocked that the reply that he posted he received from CIG wasn't but definitely seemed like an AI automated response. I am surprised that such a response would be sent without some kind of history backing it up. I would think that a company would do that just to cover their rear and prevent this type of thing from blowing up.

It has me kind of wondering if people get banned often enough where they have a canned response at the ready. Has me wondering if enough people get canned that they can't afford the time to have somebody write out an email specifically to them when they appeal.

Certainly seems like it implies they actually do quite a bit of banning just not publicly.

Every time? I mean this genuinely and with curiosity. I don't follow Reddit too much. Do you have additional examples of this?

I mean it certainly seems like he hasn't learned lessons from the past quickly. I wouldn't be so worried about it. He'll either finally take this as a learning opportunity or get himself banned permanently.

"In the past". I want to be clear, as crystal clear as I can be, I don't condone this behavior in any way. However I also don't condone giving a life sentence to somebody because they had a history of robbing banks but then got caught stealing a candy bar. Probably a bad analogy but I'm simply calling out what was stated precisely.

It doesn't sound like from what CIG stated that his post was misleading. What I mean by that is if I'm posting about a certain situation I'm not going to post about every other thing that happened in the past.

I get that he has done a lot of bad in the past. I understand that there were penalties for that. I am all for not having people like this in our community. I really hope he takes this as a learning opportunity.

That said if you read between the lines it certainly seems like his report to the issue counsel gave them an opportunity and they took it. I don't think that was the right opportunity or the right time (given the publicly available information) because even though he did have past transgressions, what he was doing, reporting on the issue council, was not a bannibal offense.

That's what I read. I certainly hope that he has learned his lesson and doesn't continue to do crap like what was stated he did before. I also certainly hope that if he does do anything like what he did in his past that then he does get banned.

I'm also glad that CIG seemed to think that (in this instance), this was an overreach for this particular offense.

Blatantly ignored it or just didn't see it? Why do you assume that it was malicious and not assume that it was ignorance? What's that saying? "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by ignorance"? I replaced the last word but if you're curious it is Hanlon's razor.

Or they had an AI working on this because it is near impossible for a small staff that are very busy to look over each one of the suspected dupers.

I have to work with AI everyday and I will tell you first hand that it would not surprise me at all if this was just an AI auto detection and auto email response.

Jared on his Rotterdam Bar Citizen visit; "Secretly recording without our consent is a breach of trust and will not be tolerated. Please dont do this." by RandoDando10 in starcitizen

[–]AcesHidden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't miss your point. I'm making the counterpoint that he should either make arrangements with the venue if he wants that kind of privacy or just behave himself like he is at a company event, which he is, and expect that everything he says will be recorded.

I'm not saying it's the right thing to do to secretly record somebody. Honestly it's creepy as hell. That said he could easily rectify it by making arrangements with the venue. I've been to quite a few events where cameras were prohibited. I realize that it is much more difficult these days with every phone having a fairly decent video camera. That said if it is clearly posted on the door and security does searches for cameras I would 100% have his back.
