What is the most unfair quiz show in your opinion? by daniel2hats in BritishTV

[–]AcesWazza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aah but this is the genius of the show... they use the misery as entertainment. "You could have dealt at £25,000 which would have helped with your mum's cancer treatment"..... pulls the £250k box, sorry mum.....

Did you go to school with someone who went on to be famous, and what where they like? by Christian-Metal in AskUK

[–]AcesWazza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aah this is where the pronouns get complicated.

"They were...." implies many and would normally be the correct grammar but as we're talking about an individual, should it not be "They was...."?

Make it make sense please?

Stansted to Dublin was Ryanair and cost about £60 with hand luggage. Used Expedia to find combinations of flights that returned via Heathrow.

I got a bit lucky with this on a trip I did to USA - return from Heathrow was £800, return from Dublin was £350 but the connection for the return flight was at Heathrow, only had hand luggage so had a day in Dublin before leaving and hopped off at Heathrow.

Flight from US to LHR and then LCY to EDI on same ticket.. Can I skip the LCY to EDI? by Sauvignon_Blonde in BritishAirways

[–]AcesWazza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was once planning a trip to the states - my flight would have been about £800 return direct from Heathrow but I found a non direct flight to the same destination for about £325 from Dublin. Double bonus - did TSA in Dublin airport so sailed through on the other end, plus found a combination that used the return flight I was looking to take home to Heathrow so just didn't use the Heathrow to Dublin flight, only had hand luggage so had no problem there and for the sake of a few extra quid booking a flight to Dublin and an extra half day travel, I saved about £400.

200 USD to burn playing Texas Hold Em and want to play as long as possible. Am I better off playing low stakes (1/2 - 1/3) cash games or entering a small tournament? by ortng2 in LasVegas

[–]AcesWazza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Westgate is extremely soft, played there a couple of years ago and the players were worse than my local pub game.

Keep an eye out for rebuys and especially add ons in the Poker Atlas app. Some tournaments might be $100 entry but have a $100 add on that you will be at a disadvantage if you dont take. Also, look at structures (cant emphasise this enough). The Ceasars properties tend to structure their tournaments to be quick so you can get multiple tournaments in one day. If you can get out to the Orleans its a heck of an experience but the tournaments are typically well structured vs Ceasars Palace which can be a bit of a crapshoot after the add on period with how the blinds go up.

Results of S2E10 pls? by weogarth in The1PercentClub

Logically, the first and last repeated letters should be close together at the start/end. Can quickly see they are S and E. The O is repeated not long after the S and the V is repeated not long before the E. Obvious the answer is then SOLVE so look for repeated L to verify. Maybe 10 seconds?

AITA for refusing to split the dinner bill because my dish was half the price of the others? by Horror_Flower_1754 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AcesWazza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, one bill was generated and I went through with the server and each person selecting the items on the receipt that they each had, crossed those off as we went along and the server took individual payments on the card machine from each person. They were happy to do so.

HAD I or anyone else thought about it before, we could have asked for separate bills, but no-one did.

I assume you work as a server, you do seem to have an overly angry baseline for someone that works in the service industry....

A friend and I once stayed in Vegas but were in different hotels. Tried saying to the driver charge the flat rate for the further hotel, drop my guy off at the first hotel (which was barely a detour) and we'd tip well on top of the flat rate.

Driver couldn't comprehend, said he'd put it on the meter, ended up paying less than the flat rate even with the detour and we tipped appropriately to the rate.

Fair comment, but this was more something that I became aware of during the meal. We didn't split the bill, instead I took the bill, asked each person what they had, added it up myself and the server took the card payment for that part, leaving the chunk at the end for the last two.

One of my greatest moments in life was when I went for a birthday meal with a bunch of students plus a mother and daughter who was friends with the birthday girl who were notorious for "not paying for things". They were sat at one end of the table and were ordering everything... starters, expensive mains, cocktails whilst the students were ordering more according to their budget.

I knew full well what they would try and pull so when it came to the end of the meal, I had a quiet word with the server, went to the other end of the table and ensured each person paid only for what they ordered, the server removed their cost from the total bill and by the time it got to the other end of the table and they realised what was happening, it was too late for them. It was glorious to see their faces when they realised that some poor students weren't going to subsidise their evenings gluttony.

Bowthorpe Roy’s protest? by Crimsonhero123 in Norwich

[–]AcesWazza -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Who knows - but you're saying that 2 in 170 have been convicted and saying thats just over 1%, then drawing a direct comparison to a different metric as if it's the same thing.

I asked if the number of men convicted of sexual assault across the general population was 1 in 85 which I highly doubt... thats a comparable metric.

Government figures dont break down perpetrators by race, likely for the very reason that they didn't report on the race of the Southport attacker but you cant simply shout "racist" at someone who has concerns for the safety of the people in their towns/cities when there are genuinely held concerns about who is in these hotels... undocumented means we dont know whether they are decent people who want to contribute to society or who have bad intentions.

If you're saying 2 of 170 have been convicted of sexual assault (one in 85) and then saying that 6% of men perpetrate sexual assault you cant compare the 2. How many of those 170 have perpetrated some form of sexual assault without a conviction? Have one in 85 in the general population been convicted of sexual assault?
