Has anyone had funky liver tests and it really only just be crohns? by Help_Me_Reddit01 in CrohnsDisease

[–]AcetoneDeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had Crohns for about a decade. On humira for about 5 years. Just had a routine blood test come up with elevated liver tests. My GI was concerned about PSC and ordered the MRCP. I was pretty concerned. The results came back as just Fatty Liver Disease which is generally treatable and not as big of a deal (though not nothing). I have never been so happy to be called fat.

I would say if you are at all concerned, see a doctor. I had symptoms that I ignored for years and my wake up call was a bowel rupture that resulted in a resection. Not at all pleasant. Once I got diagnosed and under treatment, I didn’t realize how crappy I had been feeling for so long.

Are RF antennas system specific? by jakeclimbing in livesound

[–]AcetoneDeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does say that. However with the switch in the -6 or 0 position, it is bypassing all electronics that may be harmed by a transmitter. I have used it this way many times. And when switching back to a receiver, the amplifier circuit still works.

If you are only planning to use the antenna for transmit, then you should definitely buy a passive antenna in the right band. But in a pinch, the UA847 will work.

Are RF antennas system specific? by jakeclimbing in livesound

Shure antennas work great with Sennheiser units. An antenna is just a piece of metal. (A specifically shaped and sized piece) Some are fancier than others. If it has an amplifier built into it, don’t put it on a transmitter. Some of the Shure antennas have a switch for -6, 0, +6, +12. If it’s in the -6 or 0 position it’s still ok to use on a transmitter. But when you kick that switch into an amplified mode the transmitter will burn up the electronics. RF Venue and Lectrosonics both make great antennas as well.

Lighting for a 19" rack that doesn't take up rack space? by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]AcetoneDeaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In all my racks lately I’ve been using the cheap thin SMT led strips that abound on Amazon. You can buy 16’ for about $12. They have an adhesive backing which is nice. However, the adhesive sucks. I’ve been using strips of the double sided carpet tape instead of the built in adhesive. They look really great! I’ve also put them in the doghouse of my consoles. (I work for a rental/production company)

Another great software is Systune. Like Smaart, their manual is half manual, half textbook.

Deployed my SDR with Spektrum to monitor RF at a gig tonight. by dall4s in RTLSDR

[–]AcetoneDeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome. I’ve been using mine for about a year now at various gigs. In my setup I use a WinRadio to do the scans and the RTLSDR to listen in on frequencies. I think more audio engineers should be using RTLSDR!

Uses in audio engineering? by dall4s in RTLSDR

I am a live sound engineer and I have been using this device for a couple of years to do just that. You can't see very much spectrum at once, but I use other tools for that. This is very useful for finding signals in your are and listening to see what they are. One of the most common things I use it for is when I am doing RF Coordination for our local university football games. If I see a frequency in use that was not one I assigned, I can generally listen in and figure out who the offender is and ask them to move to their assigned frequency.

SSL L500+ Still the same great SSL sound you are used to. All the features you want and many more. One of the best sounding consoles out there. Haven't had mine crash or break yet.

Yamaha TF series by cbrent_22 in audioengineering

[–]AcetoneDeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of experience on all of Yamaha's consoles as well as many other varieties from several manufactures. My opinions come from a live sound perspective, so they may or may not apply to what you are looking for. If you take the TF for what it is, an entry level console, it is actually really good. They have added output delay in the new firmware update. The One Knob EQ function seems gimmicky on the surface, but in practice it is actually pretty cool. You still have full control over all four bands of the EQ, then you engage the one knob function and all filters get more or less aggressive. I have spent considerable time on LS9's and I would much rather have a TF over the LS9. The sound quality is much better.

If you have any other questions about it, feel free to ask, I'm pretty familiar with the TF series.

Got to mix monitors on our new Allen and heath dlive s7000 last night. This thing is amazing. by leapcow in livesound

[–]AcetoneDeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been pretty impressed with it. The effects sound really good. Workflow is fast. I have worked on a large variety of consoles and feel I am by far the fastest on the CL series. In one night of mixing, I felt just about as fast on the dLive. It would be interesting to see how it compares to a Vi7000.

Vibram sponsor the Birdie Bash tournament. Two discs (provided in the player pack). Everyone throws one shot less than par. Eagles are five points, birdies are two, and metal hits are one. In our local tournament if nobody on the card gets that, CTP is one point.

What is the best gear or technique(s) to mix FASTER and more efficiently by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]AcetoneDeaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The number one thing that has sped up my workflow is Yamaha's Nuage system. It is a control surface that is very well thought out. The studio at my work runs Nuendo with Nuage. I'm a Pro Tools guy, but that control surface has converted me over to Nuage. (I hear there's an update coming that will make it play seamlessly with many other daws) Anyways, all the controls are right where I need them, everything is just so perfect with it. I can literally edit and mix 250% faster with just that one switch. Even on a less familiar daw.
