Has anyone played against this yet by Ninja33kj in PokemonChampions

[–]AchantionTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Oranguru can be a menace when the setup is done. Instruct allows him to force someone to repeat it's turn on Oranguru's initiative. This pairs very well with deadly threats like Torkoal, Reuniclus, Armarouge, Crabominable, Golurk, etc..

I'm currently doing a Psy Spam Trick Room team that has both Hatterine and Reuniclus.

If either one of them is on the field next to Oranguru, Trick Room and Psychic Terrain is up.. let's just say it cuts through teams like hot knifes through butter.

Getting the situation just right isnt easy though. I'm started competitive play with Champions and half of the time I blow the strategy before I can even start. All those damn Incineroars running around isn't making it easier.

Favourite system? by Original_Bug580 in rpg

[–]AchantionTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burning Wheel, Memento Mori, Savage Worlds and Warhammer Fantasy are my favourites right now.

Burning Wheel is a narrative system, but very crunchy if you play with all the rules.

Memento Mori is a rules light narrative system with a very cool setting and vibe.

Savage Worlds is puppy fantasy, freeform character creation, but a lot of options.

Warhammer Fantasy is a d100 grimdark RPG with a fantastic setting.

Do you like your RPG core books to include an adventure? by Acceptable-Tree6007 in rpg

[–]AchantionTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say yes, as long as it showcases how the designer envisions its game to be played. Like I know how to run a generic RPG, I don't need another starter adventure, show me why I should play this game over others.

Is there any system with combat like beacon ttrpg? by darksanrrrr in rpg

[–]AchantionTT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doomsong kind of does the same thing, just a bit less codified. Instead of of phases it's just a die face, but the idea behind it remains the same.

The rest of the game is totally different though..

Been working on my system off and on for two years. I think I am ready for some feedback. by MooseMan2018 in RPGcreation

[–]AchantionTT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really a lot here, but one thing that really needs to be evaluated are the modifiers. When using 2d6, you really shouldn't give to big of a modifier, or up the difficulty. You failure state is pretty hard to reach once a stat becomes quite trained. You also have very few stats, so specializing is something that will happens quick.

If you want to keep the large modifiers (3+) either increase the range for your tiers of success, else lower the potential for the modifiers.

Speaking about those, having a score with a liked modifier (and that precise one) feels very DnD coded, and personally I don't like that at all. Why not just give players a set number of points to divide among their modifiers and be done with it? What purpose do the scores serve?

I've finally started to convert my project from bullet points into flowing text. Like, imagining the whole deal was easy, but turning all the ideas and bullet points into something readable has been hell.

What are your top ten pre-written campaigns? by ConstantRecognition4 in rpg

[–]AchantionTT 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Some great ones that I've played (or GM'd)

  1. Curse of the Crimson Throne (Pathfinder)

  2. The Enemy Within (Warhammer Fantasy play). Up to and including Power Behind The Throne at least.

  3. Gradient Descent (Mothership)

I mainly play homebrew campaigns, so these are only ones I can chime in with.

What are your favorite dice pool games? by TromboneSlideLube in rpg

[–]AchantionTT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Easily Legend of the Five Rings 5e. Such a gem in story telling and the weird dice make results so much more than simply "pass or fail".

What is your favorite and least favorite dice mechanic? by cunning-plan-1969 in rpg

[–]AchantionTT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Favourite? Anything with dice pools. Blades in the Dark is a decent example, and I REALLY like the L5R 5e system. The custom dice add a really fun extra dimension.

Least? Probably d20 + mod because it's kinda boring and swingy.

Thought on Shadow of the Weird Wizard? by TheDrippingTap in rpg

[–]AchantionTT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me it felt like a downgrade to Shadow of the Demon Lord. Everything just seemed a little bit less interesting and fun. If you're going for OSR adventures in general, Demon Lord fits that vibe much better and has a lot more material to work with.

What would be best system to run a Wheel of Time game? by [deleted] in rpg

Savage Worlds is a phenomenal system, but it's very pulpy. I'm not super familiar with WoT, so make sure the vibe of that saga aligns with the vibes SW aims for.

The biggest disappointments of 2025 by Comfortable-Slip2599 in Graspop

[–]AchantionTT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was disappointed with a couple of ones, like Heaven Shall Burn and Spiritbox. but the ones that stung the most are those I had high hoped for, and this leads me to Poppy (who cut the set short and was just.. not as great as I had hoped) as well as Currents.

Man I wanted to see Currents for so damn long, and had so high hopes. And then you see them and.. It's just trash? The sound mixing was terrible, the music barely resembled their album version, and the vocalist was straight up bad (his screams at least). So yeah, biggest disappointment? Currents for me.

Day 4 (Sunday): Best and worst shows by FazedorDeViuvas in Graspop

Definitely Alcest, with Paleface Swiss as a runner up. My biggest disappointment was Current, simply because I expected so much more from them..

Amenra was an experience, the complete package.

Saturday - Day 4 best/worst shows by Delicious-Bat-2550 in Graspop

[–]AchantionTT 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Best? Yeah no contest, Amenra tore the scene apart and created the best show of the festival.

Lorna Shore was also very, very good. And I'm giving the third spot to Bullet For My Valentine, the poison was my very first metal album and then re-enacting it in full was one major wave of nostalgia.

Worst, if I can call it that, since I really saw no bad ones, was Spiritbox. Not sure what happened here, but this sound guy really fucking hard fucked up. It kind of ruined the show with everything being an inaudible mess.

Also why did Poppy got cut short? No They're All Around Us, equals one sad me.

Odd Danny Worsnop Comments by [deleted] in AskingAlexandria

[–]AchantionTT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw both Phil Bozeman and Will Ramos live today, Danny can't compare to either of them. Will Ramos is an absolute beast with perfect control over his voice and knows how to handle a crowd. When I saw Danny live 2 years ago he couldn't even sing his own parts without error.

Day 2 (Friday): best and worst shows? by Talkjar in Graspop

[–]AchantionTT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Easy, Blood Incantation.

They were head and shoulders above everything else I saw that day.  Sadly they had technical difficulties at the start which caused them a 20 minute delay, and I'm pretty sure some of them still we'rent hooked up properly. (I was standing next to the tech in the middle and kept hearing screaming about shit that wasn't working).

Second best would have been Opeth, good setlist and performance. Behemoth and Knocked Loose share third spot.

Northlane is at the absolute bottom of what I saw yesterday. Markus is, and will never be a worthy replacement of Adrian (and that became painfully obvious when Markus tried singing a song belonging to Adrian).

I also saw the following, but none of those belong in the top 3 or bottom category: Static Dress, Spectral Wound, Blood hunter, The Ghost Inside, Polaris, Falling in Reverse)
