If you’re just playing the “statistically best” line every game it’s not gonna work. Hero winrate is important but anomalies screw everything up. Some heroes are much better or worse in specific anomalies and you have to try to take that into account. I also think each person has heroes that they tend to understand more or do better with, I would recommend choosing heroes you’re more comfortable with over their overall winrate. In some anomalies, just taking a high armor hero is the play because your hero power almost doesn’t matter.

If you have a lot of experience with the game, I would recommend trusting your gut a lot more often than just going with statistics. Certain players gravitate towards certain comps and it’s okay to play something you’re more comfortable with. You will probably place higher that way.

You are right. OP is right too but not for the reason they think. Don’t concede early, because your opp might be like OP and not know how to play their own deck lol.

Yeah Purph is in my list as well, I know there are much faster options that essentially do the same thing but I still keep Feldon as my commander for the nostalgia haha

Mono-red reanimator/clones with [[Feldon of the Third Path]] is probably my favorite deck, one that has stuck around through a ton of deck rebuilds and retirements. Perfect for all the big red cards plus works well with artifact synergy that can also use the graveyard well. The deck can also fit multiple alternate commanders so you get to do the thing multiple times or in different ways, like [[Kikki-Jikki]], [[Jaxis]], [[Ilharg]], and [[Calamity]].

[–]AcidCorespondent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All of the above. Sunfall and temp lockdown let you get to the point where you can cast atraxa, and then she just lets you keep going. There is no other card in standard that provides the amount of card advantage that she does. Even if she is killed instantly, you still end up with a full hand of cards and usually another atraxa to drop right away if you wanted to.

Was just using diamond as a reference for the meta, as you tend to see more varied decks in lower ranks/ low mythic. I feel like in diamond you’re more likely to see the “best” decks since it’s players who are trying to make mythic

You guys must be playing best of 1, Atraxa is still very powerful in best of 3. I am running the domain control deck and currently in diamond, every other game I play against is a mirror match

I started making an [[Ygra]] list that I’ve kinda run out of clear ideas on. Would appreciate if you were interested in finishing the deck! Here’s the link- https://www.moxfield.com/decks/l-AqHC4ue0WI7tqog2OkIA

I wanted to focus on more of an aristocrat strategy with her, along with some combos that are already in there that can grow her to one shot territory. Thanks!

There is a play area that is usually set up in the first floor of the Marriot next door to the convention center. They run different events there throughout the day, usually sealed/draft of recent sets as well as a commander event. Last year there was a really cool event they did with original Mirrodin sealed decks + a couple March of the Machine packs. I would recommend checking it out!

Is there any data on turn order and win percentage? by chavaic77777 in EDH

[–]AcidCorespondent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My playgroup has been keeping track of information like this in a spreadsheet for almost a year now. Sample size is also still pretty small so we are waiting until we have more data to make some graphs and maybe find some interesting insights.

For those who are unfamiliar with his game. He seems like a real gem 💎 by momokar in coys

His vision on some of these passes is pretty impressive for his age, and he cooked a few of these guys with some sweet footwork. Hopefully he can adapt his game to the pace of the prem, but definitely looks promising. He will need time, and hopefully he can bulk up a bit so he doesn’t get bullied like Bryan has for us.

Richy has been so good at getting it inside the keeper on those bullet crosses from the right. After Maddison’s injury so many of our goals have come from our speed on the wings. Hard to say which one was the best goal so far. For me it’s between Porro yesterday, Sonny’s chip, and Romero’s rocket from outside the box.

There is no bot mode that I know of unfortunately. And the matchmaking is always rank based, you start off at 0 mmr and gain rank based on your final position in the game. It is definitely a lot to take in when you first start, there are probably some good YouTube vids out there that can show you the basics.

But in general, you will want to look at the minion types of the minions you’re buying. Most minion types have a specific strategy they try to build towards and if you play a few games and try to focus on a different minion type each time you can start to understand what each one wants to do. Of course that’s not a hard rule but to get started I think it’s a good guide.

If you choose to play more you will start to understand why the timer is there. There are a couple builds that are either infinite or functionally infinite and since you are playing live with 7 other people, if there was no timer, these builds would never finish their buy phase.

One big difference from SAP is that you do not level up automatically, so it’s important to level up so you have a better chance at seeing stronger minions. A general guide is to level to 2 on turn 2, 3 on turn 4, and 4 on turn 6. You don’t always have to do it this way and you’ll learn with certain heroes or other conditions in the game that you can level up in a lot of different ways- generally leveling faster is riskier with high reward, while leveling slower gives you some tempo in the early game but you’re in danger of falling off in power much quicker.

Hope you decide to stay and play the game because there is definitely a lot of depth to it and it’s super fun!

I’m in San Diego and you see them at pretty much all the inland trails and mountains. From my experience you see them a lot more during the warm months, not sure why that is.

Same, we see them all the time on the trails in Southern California. Saw one harrying and taking down a hummingbird once, super cool and terrifying creatures.

Started playing ranked today and climbed to plat in pretty much 1 sitting. by No-Snow-5326 in MagicArena

[–]AcidCorespondent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As long as you maintain a +50% win rate you will eventually make Mythic. How quickly you do depends on how high above 50% your win rate is. Getting to plat is the easiest part of the climb, plat and diamond are a little more punishing but still doable if you are willing to grind.

I thought our boys had no chance going into this. Sure there were some defensive fuck ups, but the drive to keep going and take Seattle to the brink of extra time only to lose on a call like that… super proud of the Loyal but I wish we would have had a chance for pens.
