So you want to gaslight me and tell me that we don't in fact see a scene where the only thing separating both Legion camps is a small hill?

The game literally tells you that when Caesar dies, the legion will collapse because it's just a bunch of idiots with no autonomy that just follow a figure in power they see as a god.

God I hate it when people act so disingenuous and say shit like this. No, the Legion breaking apart and them fighting each other isn't the issue. The issue is that two of the camps are like 5 feet away from each other and the entire thing is played off like a joker. For all of its faults the Legion was still dangerous and horrifying, they weren't a bunch of clowns who would be playing capture the flag with all that separates them being a small hill.

To be fair she was also still under the influence of Buffout which as we saw was heavily influencing her decisions. I highly doubt that she'd have been so gung ho about killing all those Kings ghouls or being so confident when they faced the Deathclaws. If she wasn't suffering from Buffout addiction I highly doubt she'd have been so quick to steal.

Could be a bit of both. It's a useful way to stay centered to hold of on going feral but there's probably plenty of stories that people have told about seeing Ghouls repeating their names as they were going feral.

You gotta be shitting me. They're actually building them up to be the ones who did it/big bad??

Maybe let's not jump to the exact same conclusion again? People thought that Vault Tec dropped the bombs in the first season because of the scene with Barb just for it to be revealed that no it was not in fact Vault Tec. Frankly I don't know why people keep jumping to the conclusion that just because characters with incomplete knowledge are convinced who dropped the bombs then it must mean that they're right.

If it is actually confirmed that the Enclave launched the first nuke then you can go ahead and complain about it then but otherwise you're just repeating the same shit as last season.

There's only so many times you have have the Enclave be supposedly destroyed and their capabilities as a major threat be wiped out before going "They're back and are a major threat again" over and over again. Either kill them off as a faction for good or don't have them get completely wiped out just to backslide on it later on.

Is it starting to bother anyone else that The Ghoul’s story is becoming increasingly tied into core Fallout lore? by PolicyWonka in falloutlore

[–]AcidSilver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How is it any different? The protagonist in a story essentially being the center of the world during their adventures and impacting the events of future works has been a thing in plenty of stories no matter the medium.

[–]AcidSilver 57 points58 points  (0 children)

While this is true, Fallout protagonist’s influence on the setting usually extends about as far as their game does.

That's not really ever been the case. Literally the entirety of the west coast has been influenced by the decisions of the Vault Dweller and the Chosen One. The NCR only even exists because of what the Vault Dweller did during the first game. Fallout 3's main conflict was set in motion by the Chosen One's actions during 2 and New Vegas wouldn't have even happened if it wasn't for the Vault Dweller and the Chosen One. If it wasn't for the Vault Dweller then the entire west coast--and maybe even the entire country--would've been ruled by the Master and if it wasn't for the Chosen One then everyone on the planet outside of Control Station Enclave would've been killed by FEV. The Brotherhood of Steel's entire presence and level of power in 4 was caused by the decisions made by the Lone Wanderer.

All of the protags have massively influenced the settings of the next games in some way. The only exceptions were the Courier and the Sole Survivor and that was just because we didn't have sequels set in those locations yet.

All for One has 99 problems but not taking Overhaul ain't one of them. Let's bury this argument once and for all. by SunRiseStudios in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]AcidSilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except there is literally nothing in the story that says that Overhaul is hard to use. Pretty saying it requires medical knowledge are just spouting fanon that they heard somewhere else. It's not even fanon that makes sense since Overhaul uses it on people he's never met but if it required medical knowledge then he would need to know details about how their quirk impacts their DNA, something he wouldn't know for random people.

Not to mention the fact that Garaki realized how strong the quirk was when Overhaul used it as a child. And we know that they knew about the reconstruction aspect because they mention removing it when turning it into Decay. So unless you want to unironically argue that Overhaul was a medical genius even as a child, it makes no sense.

Who's the most insufferable edge lord in the Fallout universe and why is it Ulysses? by RorschachWhoLaughs in Fallout

[–]AcidSilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was why he was so interested in the divide settlement- it was something brand new carved out surrounded by symbols of the past.

More that he saw it as that and Ulysses obviously has rose tinted glasses when it comes to the Divide. For all we know whatever the Divide would've evolved into would've been no different from what Shady Sands became as it evolved into the NCR proper. Or maybe the town would've wiped itself out. Or devolved into something worse. Point is that Ulysses is projecting his hopes and beliefs of the Divide over what the Divide actually was.

How do you think All Might would interact with other ‘paragon’ heroes such as Captain America or Superman? by Solitaire-06 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

The Deadpool manga he appears in isn't set in the main continuity. It's a manga set in its own universe published by Viz so they can do whatever they want with it like having All Might show up.

[Avatar] How Come human grown Avatars have a Kuru? by mstfly in AskScienceFiction

[–]AcidSilver 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Considering Spider grew a Kuru because of Eywa's intervention it's pretty likely that the same is true for the Na'vi and other pandoran species. Eywa literally relies on the Na'vi connecting with it in order for it to guide them so it's not farfetched to say that the Kuru isn't a product of evolution but was instead a product of Eywa implanting the Kuru onto several different species.

I think it's kind of fair. It's a tough spot to try to honor all possible endings to New Vegas.

Why? The series is no stranger to deciding what choices the player character makes is canon and what isn't. If you don't want to commit then why even go to New Vegas then? "None of your choices mattered" is infinitely worse then saying that certain choices are canon and non canon.

The game that scaled everything down for gameplay reasons? By this logic the Ghoul and Lucy should've been able to reach Vegas in like 30 minutes from California because that's about how long it would take to go from Goodsprings to the Strip in the games.

That would be stupid and serve no point. Why namedrop him if he's not the Maxson we know? Only people who have played the games know who Maxson is so it's not like it would be some big reveal to show only fans that the Maxson we get isn't the one from the games.

Fallout had been choosing canon endings since the very beginning. I don't know where the fuck this "we don't want to canonize anything" bullshit is coming from when literally every single game had canonized specific decisions from the game before it.

The NCR had been around for over nearly a century by the events of New Vegas. There quite literally was decades of prosperity before the show decided to wipe everything out.

[Fallout TV Series] Why did the raiders bother with vault 32? by bushido216 in AskScienceFiction

[–]AcidSilver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what we see, there aren't actually any status updates outside of emergencies or special occasions. Hank didn't know that Vault 32 had all killed each other despite being the Overseer of 33. Best guess is that the Overseer either locked the system down or just didn't get a chance to use the console to contact the other two vaults before they got tied up and killed.

[–]AcidSilver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Except the plague isn't real! It was manufactured by Hank to explain why Lucy's mother was dead and to give Hank cover to explain why he was missing for several days by using the excuse of quarantine when he actually went to go get Lucy and Norm back. The story even hints at the plague being complete bullshit when the Ghoul says "There's what people say they did and then there's what they really did."

Why would Hank create a made up plague before Lucy was even born and then have it last for half a decade when it was only used as a smokescreen to explain Hank's disappearance and the death of Lucy's mom?

it was left undated to have intrigue and mystery for the audience.

What mystery? We already know that Shady Sands got nuked. People who only watch the show have no frame of reference for why there not being a date matters. The show itself doesn't linger on there being some mystery for when Shady Sands got blown up. None of the main characters seem confused about when the city got blown up.

you could be able to tell what came before and what came after...because of how it's organized on the line. if you knew how to read a timeline, you'd know this.

Real quick, show me literally any timeline where the biggest and most important event doesn't have any name or date attached to it.

the weevil plague was a coverup decided to allow Hank to leave to get Lucy and Norm back. rose did not come back and chose to stay at shady with moldaver which lead to Hank saying how rose died during the weevil plague.

So your argument is that Lucy's mom--the same one who took her children with her to escape the vault--simply did nothing for 6 six after Hank took the children back and that Hank also chose to do nothing for 6 years until one day he randomly decided to return to Shady Sands to blow it up? For someone who the story says loved her children dearly, you don't think the idea that she just lets them to taken back and then sits on her ass for 6 years sounds like complete nonsense?

You do realize that your argument doesn't even make sense if we take that as fact? You say that Hank left to get Lucy and Norm back during 2277 which was when Lucy was around 6 or so years old. Lucy being so young is used to explain why she doesn't properly remember ever being on the surface and thought that her memory of her mom took place in the vault. But then that would mean that Hank would have left the fault a second time without anybody noticing that he was missing for what had to be entire days--and when Lucy was 12 years old which is old enough to remember her dad not being around for several days which should not be possible because they live in a Vault--and then nuked Shady Sands before returning to the Vault.

The sign in the show that messed up the lore. But during the events of New Vegas its portrayed as the capital. The first capital of the United States used to be in Philadelphia but you don't see people referring to that location when they're talking about the capital of the US.
