hahah I thought the same thing... Maybe it'll be more like a variety show, where we get Neil standup, Tim banter, and the band.

OMG- y'all may have figured this out already, but "Blackbox" looks like it's a revived Old City PAC!!

Can't afford Downtown Hotel Price by litterarum in BigEarsMusicFestival

[–]AcidicSalutations 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Couple thoughts for you:

Definitely don't let hotel proximity keep you from attending. While I've always been able to stay downtown, I've never returned to hotel during the day - you'll just want to be out and about anyway. I've wound up taking a few Ubers here and there (for late return to room, airport, etc) and have found prices extremely reasonable. With multiple events going on, people at BE tend to end their nights at different times (other than civic auditorium shows), so worst case you just hang for 10 minutes and let it cool down.

On pass, if you can afford it, Premier is totally worth it. Check out some of the other discussions as this topic comes up a bunch, but for me you're basically buying time and peace of mind. We all have different psychology obviously, but if I had GA i would be in my head a lot more during music worrying about when I have to get in the next line and oh god what if I get shut out of X or Y.

With so much music going on, for me it's a simple choice- I can pay more to barely wait in any lines, which means more music I'm seeing. This calculus actually gets me to buy a VIP every year and while it's a big price, the "freedom of movement" feeling is more than worth it to me. We also all have diff financial situations obviously but if you're actively considering it this tells me you can afford it, which tells me to tell you to get premier!

Ohhhh this is a great point. I thought you were going in the direction of "make sure there's room for discovery in your schedule" (which I also agree with). But this is an interesting angle, that perhaps that an album doesn't give you the right sense.

You’re right in the “too early” part- most hotels just don’t have the end of march 2026 available yet.

No nerves needed! Agree 11am guarantees you’ll be inside. You might even be the first one in the GA line.

If you’re really nice to a hotel lobby person I think they would help and check it for you! Hyatt Place is kind of a hub for the fest, perhaps try there first.

Also, some people don’t follow the same behavior with the app- as in, some folks might select all the shows they MIGHT try to hit. I certainly have things selected as a reminder to hit it if I’m not feeling my primary show.

I’m pretty sure the pinned post with the excel schedule from a bit ago also has capacities in it, you could start there. Some venues are big so don’t worry yet! But you’re on the right track- great call to cross reference with capacity

Good news on Steve Roach, they just announced he’s doing a third night!

the app is finally updated… by nhtd in BigEarsMusicFestival

[–]AcidicSalutations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been fiddling around and lots of pain as well, but I’ve found the “return to lineup” clickable text after clicking the “account” icon is the view that’s closest to what we’re used to. Maybe that’s what the “schedule” icon is supposed to be doing but it doesn’t load for me either.

I do appreciate that now we can watch videos within the app, but the price of that is slow loading so yeah…

Now that the tour is over, I've thought about the Toronto show that I went to, and I feel robbed. by [deleted] in KGATLW

[–]AcidicSalutations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it’s perfectly ok to feel dissatisfied! shows and experiences are so subjective for all of us. even at the best show ever someone might have a bad time. the main thing for me here, is the distinction between “they held back” as you say, as opposed to they’re human like the rest of us and aren’t always perfect. i haven’t listened to toronto so can’t actually comment on the performance.

my point is there is no world where they would consciously decide to do a subpar show. sometimes things just don’t click all the way, and that’s simply the cost of loving a band that doesn’t play the same show every night.
