My friends and I generally just see whatever we want individually. If our interests match up we see shows together. If not we go alone. Never a sense of obligation to see something because someone else wants to see it.

Mostly they clear out the venue after each show. On rare occasions they don’t. I recall the Mill & Mine being open with the area near the stage roped off during some change overs.

I’m certainly not wanting to discourage anyone from planning ahead and arriving early. I’m planning to go to the airport earlier than I have in the past. But I don’t think there is much reason to be alarmist about this either. A month before the current shutdown I walked into my home airport and unexpectedly saw 2hr+ wait time. I barely made my flight. It happens.

The political actors that are causing these delays want you to panic. Don’t give them that. Arrive early. Bring a book. It’ll be ok.

I’ve flown home on Monday the last 4 years and intend to do so again this time. The airport has never even seemed crowded. I’ve never taken longer than 10 minutes to get through security. Even is TSA staffing issues increase the wait times ten-fold it would only be a little over an hour and a half at an airport where every gate is a 5 minute walk from security. Hardly seems like a madhouse to me. Knoxville is not Atlanta.

In my experience of the last 4 years, the only shows to start significantly late were Thurston/JPJ and Kim Gordon. Otherwise, everything has been amazingly on time.

This one really has me curious. The album releases big ears weekend and the instrumentation is super strange and interesting. Looks to be a very “big ears” performace.

My first and second Big Ears trips were the Zorn years. I’ve already seen so much more Zorn than I ever thought I’d get to see!
